- The Honda CR-V has long been a popular seller for Honda and within its segment in the crossover SUV market. A full redesign has come for 2023 but one thing that has not changed is the fact that buyers still have a choice between multiple trim levels in addition to hybrid or non-hybrid models. In today’s Vehicle Visionary video, we pair up the EX-L non-hybrid CR-V alongside the Hybrid Sport to see what the differences and similarities are between the two models.

We have on order a 2023 CR-V Hybrid Sport due any day now. We chose the Hybrid Sport over the Touring because my wife didn't want leather seats and I didn't want the 19" tires and wheels. We did add on a couple extras that the Touring has. We also chose the hybrid over the gas only model because I wanted to jump into the hybrid market and try it out and reap the benefits of the added power and higher MPGs, The battery warranty is 8 years/100K miles. If they last that long or hopefully longer maybe the cost of battery replacements will be warranted. Honda does have one of the highest resale values. Good review!
the blacked out rims give the look of this car the extra oomph and sleek look. The EXL rims make it look like any old soccer mom car imo.
I love the roof rails. I bought the EXL but I'm gonna add them to my vehicle.
Thanks for the comparison video. 1)I wish they offered the silver wheels on all trims. 2) I wonder if the AWD systems perform different and which one might work better in snow? 3) I wonder which one will be mechanically more reliable in the long run. Turbo engines have their issues. But, the longevity of having a battery might be an issue as well. 4) I've heard the hybrid has better off the line excelleration. I'm not sure if this is true or not? 5) I prefer having a spare tire. 6) I don't really like the silver air dams in the front of the Touring trim.
Yes.! you can lift the floor trunk of the hybrid trim to access the lithium battery.
We have a 2024 Sport Hybrid touring due any day. Although we are leaving our much beloved 2008 BMW X3, I think the hybrid makes sense, especially in the resale market in a few years with the declining gas vehicles produced. I liked the feel of both cars, but the Hybrid was a bit quicker. Lastly, I hope it's as reliable as Hondas past CRV's.
I have the hybrid sport in urban grey love it ❤
Twins! It’s a beauty
I like your comparisons. Thanks!
Thank you!
I have the exact same hybrid sport color on the right
I got the same EXL color and interior , people say hybrids are the best and that 1.5L will burn out but if you maintain a chill speed and good maintenance your non hybrid will outlive your hybrid 100% just watch
Hybrid looks and drives Awesome!
Thanks for the comparison! I've been waiting for someone to do this--and it helps a lot with decisions. My only question to you is that I've heard the real-world gas milage on the Hybrid CRV is not very spectacular. In fact, if you spend most of your time on the highway, would there be much of a difference between the two? If not, then why spend the extra money on the Hybrid, especially, when there is a big battery bill waiting to happen after 6-7 (or whatever) years. I would love to hear your opinion on this real world gas milage issue...thanks again for your comparison. I will now subscribe! :)
The hybrid has 210 ponies
Did you test drive fwd or awd?
I went ahead and got the hybrid sport model. The hybrid is basically a boost system is not technically a full Hybrid. The 1.5 L with turbo will eventually burn out over time for such vehicle. I expect that the hybrid system is pretty much like Toyota very reliable. I think that the hybrid system will give you 150-200k miles before replacement is required.
I hate the black wheels. They should have a silver wheel option.
For my wife it came down to a few things. She wanted a light interior but the light interior in the sport trims had oddly trimmed seats which she was not a fan of. She also didn’t care about the BOSE, or the hybrid since we won’t drive it enough to make the money back. The Sport Touring is the overall better car, IMO, but not for everyone. She went with an EX-L
I’m getting the EXL for the same reason!
The sales man told me that the hybrid will drive smoother.. any comments on that? Did you find that to be the case?
Awesome Video Tom
Thank you, Sunjib! I appreciate you for watching my videos.

For some reason, i’ve always hated those silver rims… so i convinced my family to buy the hybrid sport in the dark grey metallic color.. didnt want the touring because of the leather seats and the exhausts in the front lol.
I thought I was the only one that Didn't like leather seats lol. I'm in Florida and it gets HOT🥵. The seats will definitely burn your Butt 😂. but it has a remote start so that was a definite plus.
@@tinker2217 same for me, burns my booty… the remote start is 🔥 tho
So for mostly highway driving, what would you choose?
EX-L because it has a lower price. That way you spend less money since you will be doing more HWY driving and use the gas engine more. Just my opinion.
So the s drive is sport mode, i didn't know that
❤❤❤❤ ❤. This video is exactly what I need. thanks for sharing. Looks like EXL has more features vs Hybrid just save a few $ on gas
You're welcome, Joe! Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
I don't like the fact that you give up a spare tire with the hybrid. Also good luck getting 40 mpg average
The Ex-L is the one to get
Bellos ❤
Would guess most people dtive in the city not the country
5:55 😂😂
Which is quieter?
Yes
If it wasn't the shitty the 1.5T engine, I would say the EXL is better.
Cx5 anyday
I had a CX-5 traded it in for my 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport and would take the Hybrid Sport over the CX-5 anyday .
Cx5 old design
