I find creating orchestral covers and mockups to be a great way to explore how I can use my current instrument libraries. This will help me compose my own game's soundtracks more effectively.

Lewyn when he starts talking about philosophical stuff to a teenager...

Lewyn still doesn't spit the cold, hard facts like August does. I truly believe Leif is a better protagonist (NOT unit lol) because he has to confront his hotheadedness, naiveté, and lack of self-worth. August doesn't coddle him or sugarcoat, he tells things as they are and sets Leif straight when necessary. In 2nd Gen, Lewyn is either a cheerleader or reminiscing about history. Meanwhile, as a character, Seliph is just... there. lol

But Lewyn does spit cold hard facts. Multiple times.
Either to tell Seliph to get it together and to acknowledge the realities of war or to "run back to Tirnanog", that people (despite being a product of their environment) are still people, and to resent the hate within us all.
Honestly, I enjoy all three Jugdral Lords. Sigurd being the well-intentioned and lovable idiot, Seliph being shouldered with the sins of the past to where he's absolutely terrified of it, and Leif being a person that messes up and struggles a lot to overcome whatever is in his way.
In regards to August... Let's be frank, he only really assists Leif initially because his benefactor, Lewyn, gave him such an objective. He's a realist and cynical, and it's only because he journeyed and witnesses Leif's struggles and acknowledges that honour and loyalty isn't all bad (RIP Dryas) is when he starts to change.

For what it's worth, I think this is the point. Seliph is a hero of prophecy, whereas Leif's struggle, outside of the context of itself, doesn't matter, to the point the entirety of what is Thracia's plot gets summed up in Genealogy as "we lost our final gambit please save us."
Jugdral doesn't need Leif, but it does need Seliph, and he has a lot of powerful people basically manipulating things to go his way. The wide majority of Seliph's liberation army are heirs to the 12 crusaders. Even Arvis basically surrenders victory to him. The game is literally named "Genealogy of the Holy War"; there's no chance for Seliph to lose because, well, he's not meant to.
Leif, meanwhile, is an upstart rebel leading a ragtag band of deserters, peasants, and criminals, fighting to liberate their one kingdom from their one enemy.
There's a lot more at play and at stake in Genealogy's conflict, whereas Thracia is intentionally a lot more straightforward. Of course, you're free to dislike Seliph, but it's unfair to say he's just kinda there.
