Self Hosted Bitwarden with an off-site rasberry pi Bitwarden backup sync the two Bitwarden Servers via syncthing If something happens to my main Bitwarden Server - say a fire destroys it. I'll have a backup of everything ready to go.
Nice Video. Was curious about other PassWord Managers... I currently use Keepass and it works very well. Im just always sketched about extensions accessing it, but it has to be able to get it from somewhere. Maybe I am just over thinking how it could be vulnerable. But KeepassXc works very well.
The downside of that is that you have to manually enter the password which could be intercepted by a keylogger. A pw manager lets you login with 1 click or copy/paste
Great Video. If I lose access to the vault and only have the master password left, how are all my saved passwords restored? Are they stored in a hashed way on the, for example, Bitwarden server, which I can gain access to this way? What happens if the company takes their servers offline for any reason? I saw, that 1Password gives you an emergency kit PDF, which can overrule the master password. Is this safer?
I think that having a strong password is good but we don't need a password manager for that. I can generate a good password myself however I am a big fan of two factor authentication. Btw Great Video 💖
I used to use myki. It was an amazing password manager but they got sold to another company so now I am searching for a new manager and I think I gonna go with keepass. But one feature I will definitely miss is that I was able to integrate 2FAs of different websites like PayPal into my myki app. I am not sure if that is possible with keepass.
I feel like this guy isnt paid enough to respond to comments which is a shame cuz like 90% of comments are in the first few days of a video and it shouldn't take much time but yeah. He barely gets 20k avg viewers on each video while he spends a ton of time and effort into those. A bit sad but oh well, he deserves the money but sadly not many people watch, we should be grateful he still does this for little monetary gain
How do I handle passwords, you ask. I have bitwarden on my phone but I forgot its password, so the only way I can access to it at the moment is with my fingerprint. I think I'll soon go back to good old pen and paper (and a password generator for creating new, overly complicated passwords I'll never be able to remember).
Idk how is it like in germany or whether ur bank has this but my bank gives me virtual visa which I use instead of my real one, i never keep any money in it (i only add before paying) this way ur real card will never get leaked or scammed for more money (since the virtual visa is kept empty and it's a debit card, cannot charge from it if there's nothing, like u can from a credit card). Ask ur bank for a virtual visa and look around
Another honourable mention: Self-made password manager. I coded my own, super simple, saves passwords with very basic encryption/ciphertext on a txt file, but I plan on expanding it. It doesn't have any syncing, so I manually back it up. Obviously not practical for everyone, but it works for me, and is another option for those interested and/or able to.
I would LOVE to see a video about the best phone service providers :P To maybe buy a subscription and then you get a temporary number. Want to be able to for example to bypass a phone verifying step without getting blocked because i try to use the "free" ones. I don't mind paying. Just want to stay anonymous, y'know! Do ping if it's a good idea! ^^ Hugs from Sweden!
Some input forms don't allow pasting text. The solution is to use the Ctrl-V option of KeePass as it generates individual keystrokes. And if you only need the password without the username put {PASSWORD} in the notes field.
@@RobMoerland thanks for your help. I tried the CTL V, as usual, but it didn't work, on a bank website, Gmail, and another site. So I think it is a Firefox update.
I used LastPass before they changed to one decide then changed to bitwarden and never came back. Simple to use and works on my phone apps too. Good thing to know I am in good hands
Not the logo but the fact that is locked to the apple ecosystem (thus is not an option for everyone), if you have only (or mostly) apple devices is a great option, but if you have an iPhone and a windows you won’t be able to sync your passwords and will make it less convenient…
From a security standpoint it seems good. Maybe it's because your giving more data about yourself to apple and that could be bad from a privacy perspective?
0:04 it dosent matter if password is weak. when full databases is leaked lol. all data on fields NOT encrypted just passwords WHAT? and all data should ecrypt multiple time not just one md5() or sha256(). when is combine them md5(sha256(sha512())) and between those reverse result split in middle. it comes too many variants HACKER cant know. end result looks like md5 but its actually plaintext of LONG HASH it mean long password impossible brute force in 100 year. i had many years challenge my password is "1" figureout encrypthing. nobody havent still crack it. its that easy. simple password is ok if it encrypted way that hacker cant know means its just not one md5() hacker allready had hash for 1 even its not nessessary hold hashes it takes milliseconds generate it LOL
Use pen and paper please. Password managers are digital and anything digital can be virtually hacked and gives the hacker access to all your passwords. Paper can’t be hacked. Write your passwords in a book and hide it somewhere safe.
@Tuscan417 if you have a virus it can keylog all u type regardless if u look at a password manager or a textbook, it will (can) be keylogged when u enter it, so it's all the same really. That said if u only have 5-10 passwords it's not that bad of an idea, tho if u have kids that find it or u come back from work and ur wife is like "hey hunny I did some cleaning, I threw that old notebook away and got u a brand new one :D" then gg
1:13 its not matter what password is. browser allready nagging its weak password its allways ask SAVE to us. what no way save. google allready know all password you ever type. nothing is saved ofcourse yeah yeah. what bout year after password no longer exist just ITS ME. nothing is spyed LOL databases still get leaked its not password its all other content that not encrypted OPSY! still. you not even need password to hack in database that is open lol just push thru until it fails
Password managers are unnecessarily hyped apps in my opinion. Default browser based password managers are so convenient and secure. Google, Firefox, Safari offer strong password suggestion these days.. and more over you can use your browser as an Autofill manager across platforms too. Ex: you can use FireFox or Chrome as a password manager in your iPhone. I don't think a dedicated password manager is essential in 2022
What point is it to just see 5 names with no explanations? He's doing good for u cuz if all u care about is the name without actually watching to understand the reason u're doin yourself a disservice
Because? Bitwarden does not store your key (which is used to decrypt your passwords) on its server, so if someone managed to gain access they could not do anything, unless your device is compromised by a virus it is impossible for them to steal your account and more if you have 2FA
@@ninorata9711 well more like they send police at your door, arrest u and then demand access. Sure u can claim u forgot ur pass but idk... They will beat u in the prison cell so prob ure gonna get fucked anyhow

for the important stuff I use pen and paper
