    An investment that will help with your wireless issues is getting an antenna combiner from either Shure, Sennheiser, or RF Venue. You can then run mics and IEM closer with paddle antenna that are more directed signals for your stage area. Just a suggestion. Love your vids.

    • @thesoundcouple

      Yep...it's all been laid out on the table since this gig!

    • @dustinthiessen
      @dustinthiessen ปีที่แล้ว +2

      still gotta keep those antennas a good 6-8' apart if possible... can definitely rack the stuff up together though. Also using coordination software like wireless workbench is imperative. best practice as well is to keep IEM's and RF mics as far away from each other in the spectrum as well, not just physically. in addition, wireless body packs for instrument wireless/lav mics should be kept as far apart as possible on the body from IEM packs.

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's great when the singers hold the wireless mic in one hand while using those finger to adjust the IEM belt pack volume being held in their other hand.😔@@dustinthiessen

      Australian slang for towers,on another note your legs if you had them in a cross shape,you could use 2 subs side by side facing the Punters would do the job the back half you could possibly put cases ect stacked up to keep the band,punters from accessing that area,or close to wall’s ect,just to keep it to a minimum.
      There’s not much you can do other than that,keep up the tumultuous efforts you and Stacy put in nice to see you going and investing in tech ,yes Mac is so nice I have 3 Mac’s love the way they integrate so well with Presonus I don’t think I would go back to IBM after the fantastic job Mac does.
      I love the pecron that is a bit of mastery Bart,such a great idea,would never have thought of that,how long can you run a show with it? Can you run the pa and lights for the whole show?,im sorry if I missed that part.
      Looking forward to the next show that pops up on TH-cam,see you guys then!☮️🤘🤘🤘

    Old knowledge by now, I’m sure, as this looked like a Christmas party, but cut some 3/4 plywood squares about 12”x12”, or whatever will fit in a milk crate (for ease of transport) and use them as bases under your crank up feet. You can set up on any ground and the stands will be stable. Also, lightly grease the crank threads. It will make it much easier, and if you’re careful, not much greasier.

    Good deal on the investment in new equipment. On the speaker stands, looking quickly at it, think about black 5 gallon buckets, inverted, and cut to fit over the corners where the traffic cones were. Additionally, see if they make black snow fence as a "skirt" between the cranks, or use webbing similar to cargo planes and car trunks. I am looking forward to the next one!

    Instead of using separate adapters for the mac I would recommend getting a multiport dongle like a 5 in 1 or 7 in 1 which has all the ports but it’s only one dongle rather than multiple. Great video guys loving the new gear!!

    You will not regret the speaker stands. Great choice, too. I got a version from the same place, but mine are generally for a truss. Two of my CDLs will fit using the pole mount on the CDL. But, I cannot put three on that way, as you know. Mine, however, have 4 equal length legs that work very well on non-flat ground. Sometimes the wheels are a few inches or more off the ground. You’ve had them several months now, so I would expect that you’re more familiar with them and they probably get used now more than you thought they would. If I had your type, I would be using them for all but short rooms and definitely outside all the time.

    Hey Bart Stacy this is Joseph from Los Angeles California on making the purchase to enhance your you also give me good ideas on doing my gear 😊 this is the first time that I saw the PreSonus 64 s in action love the new gear hope you have much much success with it this is how you do your business you have to reinvest in your business to go far and the sound couple is a good example of how to reinvest in yourself once again congratulations always 😊❤❤❤

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Joseph for your comment. Audio production has an interesting perspective and unique pressures for reinvestment...we struggle with it because it doesn't seem to link to a direct return on that investment and charging more...in more ways, it's to stay relevant as more services and gear evolve into commodities. I remember charging extra for wireless mics, now people just expect them...and now do you really expect them to reimburse you for the battery? No, so we "invested" in rechargeable ones so we could stop buying 9 volts. Now we provide them to make our jobs easier and it's not about them....they can think that and that's ok.

    I work conventions, and one of our venues closes the parking garage 11PM-8AM. This is the only free parking option for event staff; the hotel is valet and local parking lots all charge. We have to be careful to access everything we need from our cars (and do anything we need our cars for). We check-in on Thursday and leave Sunday or Monday (it's a Fri-Sun event in a convention center attached to a hotel). A few of us have been locked-in or out from time to time! Since you now have a decent size constant curve array, with 3 cabinets, there's probably some options in the control software for your speakers to get the most out of them, usually a high shelf on the top speaker, and a bit of a high shelf down on the lowest speaker. Why? Because the most top speaker is the furthest away from the crowd, thus needing to throw farther, since high frequency's having the most trouble going far, a highshelf does usually help. And this yields for the bottom speaker aswell, but the exact opposite. Its the most close to the crowd, and the high will be really overwhelming.
    Worth a shot to play around with, if there's any possibility's software wise. Also try playing around with lowshelfing (as the 3 speakers coupled together creates alot of low(mid) build up. Can help, can destroy)
    Have a good day!

    Stacking antennas creates interference. You can try pointing the bottom antennas down and the might just fix your problem. Best thing to do is to get a antenna combiner. You might make it work with a passive combiner since iems only have a single antenna.

    • @thesoundcouple

    Hey Bart and Stacy! Do you use shure wireless work bench, to coordinate your wireless freqs? I would highly suggest it if you don't use it. I would also strongly recommend getting crosby brand shackles for your rigging, do not put your trust in the "rigging" hardware from a bigbox store or hardware store. The quick link that is connected to your presonus rigging bar isn't rated for overhead lifting and should not be used in that situation. It would be better to link shackles "Crosby shackle" if you need length in the chain.

      Thank you for your suggestion. Bottom line, there are more considerations we need to account for. We have a trailer, but it's expensive to pull and these out of town gigs really push what we can do with the production budgets we are working with. Sometimes we need to sacrifice a little more effort at the gig to even make the gig worth our effort.

      We learned that we need to be careful with those and ensure they are going straight down so better to brace the leg with your free arm...so no, we would say this is a process to take your time as less is more. • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A: We are really happy that we got the Pecron. Adds some piece of mind for some gigs. B: We use our "eyesite" as a reference to judge how high we need to go. With a point source array...pointing them in the direction you need to go is about as scientific as you can get. We use the power/line cables in back to guide them.

    I thought if you connect the computer to the board via usb and run uc surface on the computer it no longer lets you use it on the iPad?

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  ปีที่แล้ว

      No...USB allows your computer to use the mixer as a sound interface. Also, UC Surface control from the computer will switch to USB from Ethernet (so from the computer to mixer, you don't need the computer connected to the network to control the mixer). The network portion is completely separate and all of your other devices connected to the network can still control the mixer!

    Not sure if anyone has asked about the person power unit. I was curious what items were you running off the unit? How long did you actually use it that night and how much charge was available at the end? I have a show coming up in a few weeks and may try to rent one to tryout instead of my louder 13KW generator. Which is very much over kill with my system.

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question as I thought I we included that info, but we missed it. We can piece it back together and share more info.
      For the gig, we were powering the 64s/router/computer. It was on for approx 9 hours and was at 75% when done. At the next gig, we used it to power our rack mixer gear and 1sub/main. It was on for approx 7 hours and we started off at 75% and it was at 46% at the end of the night.
      We have used it to power backline/lights, and partial PA. In total, we use it for at least half if not more of our gigs in some capacity. It quickly and naturally became an important piece of gear for us in both piece of mind and utility....we would never NOT have one again for the type of gigs we do. For us, we really didn't know if this was tech hype or real...it's real. Good luck!

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  ปีที่แล้ว

      For us, it's in the category of "how did never not have this"! At a minimum, we bring it to every outdoor show. We use it for supplemental power, ceremonies, end of night lighting, etc. Stay tuned for our next video where we test to gain more faith in it. At this point, we don't have any concerns about using it with our equipment and you will see it more in future videos!

    How far do you travel for your shows?

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The biggest consideration for us is the budget. If the budget supports the time/travel, we will venture from our home state of MN, to WI, ND, SD and IA. For a gig to be considered typical with standard rates, it needs to be under two hours of travel.

    Hello Sound Couple.,here Jan from the Netherlands,i watch your video,s . Its a pitty that only the mixingdesk are avalible in Holland . The PA systems not . From a sound engineer to another ! You a very nice flightcase for your St/Li desk and you took it out of the case when you used it , your wife made a very nice drape for your rack why not for the deskflightcase so no one sees the cables. And second why not a trusssystem with backdrop to cover that nasty looking overhead door. And you can hang your backlights in it. And third make your own Iem rack

      You need to go back to and watch our Total Performance video....if we get truss, Stacy will quit! Seriously though, we are at our absolute limit with what two people can do with the time, budgets, and space. We would need a third person amongst other needs to support any more production.
