- This is an overview of the Longher Ray 5 10W Laser Engraver. I am by no means an expert in this field, however I thought I would make a video to document my experience with the machine in case you are looking for a laser engraver for your shop..
This machine will truly do what I need it to do, and at a really good price considering the feature set. I wish it had end stops, but then again I am glad it has the touch screen and built in Wi-Fi. Both of which are more important to me.

You need to check a few settings to make sure you have Lightburn setup for this machine. Ie MM/sc vs MM/MM c02 vs Diode.
Yours appears to to be set for C02.
Also line 32 make sure Spindle Speed is set at 1000. Your burns look a little light. 😁🛫

help!! My longer just stops after framing / patrolling. It did one perfect engraving and now this. its brand new!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I like the ability to be able to bring this to a project. As I'm just diving in to laser stuff for research, I'm assuming this model wouldn't be the best for cutting out small templates due to it's wattage?
It can cut up to 3/4" material. Just takes a looooong time. I don't plan on using it to cut anything other that 1/8" ply and do engraving.

There is nothing I can see in the specifications that tells me the life of the laser.

A CNC and this laser engraver are two different animals alltogether. Find out what you are going to make with the machine, and buy accordingly is the best advice I can give.
