I’ve copied and pasted this from my journal. I had to post it.
When she mentioned what her mindset was in college in regard to wanting to be off the market and being married, I had to start journaling.
As I’m watching the Dear Future Wifey podcast with Brian + Stephanie Carter I realized that singleness with a strong desire to be married is not always about desperation, void fillers, & just needing somebody, it’s about women trying to survive in a world while being uncovered. So many of us don’t have a physical covering & when we are out here uncovered, we fall prey to the struggles of being abused, cheated on, and being taken advantage of in many ways. Women are tired and want to bypass the heartbreaks, the counterfeits, the unwanted pregnancies, and the falling in love with somebody just to be left & abandoned. God I pray you cover us women, the weaker vessel 🙏🙏🙏

Very true! Even before I was of marrying age, as a child when my father was no longer in the house, I felt unprotected. NEVER did I feel unsafe with him in our home. But the moment he was gone, I felt exposed and vulnerable. He was my hero. I remember staring out my bedroom window, looking at the sky crying "daddy, please come back home" I begged through tears for him to come home though he couldn't hear me. He never did come back home as he died in prison after 25 years. I developed feelings of abandonment over the years and sought boys and men to fill the void up until and even after I was introduced to Christ. Overtime and eventually through discipleship I learned to trust that my heavenly Father would not leave or forsake me. For now and always He is my covering. Even if I eventually marry, my husband may depart from this life before me and God will still cover me until He brings me home. This life is a trip... May we all know that our Protector and Defender is the Lord who is strong and mighty to save.

"It's the struggle that seals you together." I pray that my future husband and I will bring this understanding into our marriage. It's so easy to run away when pressure is applied to relationships, but with time, pressure creates diamonds.

Feeling safe to be human with a man is so essential. Every person has regrets in life and being able to be your whole self makes a huge difference. The person who allows you to be strong and vulnerable, a boss and needing to be led, fierce and failing is someone who doesn't expect perfection, but rather expects your best in each moment is a person who is intellectually, emotionally and spiritually mature.

Each podcast I’ve listened to, they’ve gotten better and better with me thinking “Yeah, this is the best one.” AND then I listen to another one. Everything about this one was everything! Is the 90 Day Marriage Challenge Elite to Concord Members Only or is it offered to members of other churches as well as virtually? The transparency of the Carter’s was everything that we as a community needed. For the two to agree on, be active in, and share with others the Annual Marriage Goals was very profound and something I pray others begin to do.
Again, thank you Laterras for your continued consistency with having great guest and keeping the conversations LIT. Laterras, when you release your book, it would be of great service for you to release an audio version as well. I’m sure you know, that one can be a great podcast host but not a great reader out loud. However, as you read your letters at the end of each podcast and listening to you read passages from the Carter’s book, you’ve proven to be both. Keep up the great work.❤

Brother Whitfield, another excellent episode. My husband and I have been married for 36 years and we just moved in the area and we had to leave our old church because of the distance and it broke my heart. We have been visiting different churches and Concord church is amazing. We met Pastor Bryant briefly and I love his teachings. Many pastors preach but they do not teach. The praise team is amazing as well. If we had more people in the world like Brother Whitfield and Pastor Carter, this world would be a better place to live in. Thank you both for serving God and his kingdom!! My husband and I have made our decision to join Concord!!

I can honestly say I was a proud member of Concord when I lived there and I did GROW… that church really grows people. First Lady Carter is just like this in person. She would step into small groups and keep it all the way real all while exuding class and ethics and integrity. Pastor Carter teaches the Bible he breaks it down it’s relative to current times…

Thank you First Lady Carter for sharing that experience regarding the card declining and how you dealt with the situation such that your husband walked away feeling supported and not demeaned. You have given me quite a number of tools to equip me to be a better wife and I appreciate your sharing your experiences without reservation.

There is 6 degrees of separation between us! Don't know how to explain it without it sounding weird. Our lives and timelines are so very similar. From the inner family adoptions, to life experiences, marriages, children, especially our desires for our future spouses!

So grateful for this couple's transparency. I found myself in a situation dating a pastor of a small church who had the intentions of courtship and marriage. When peeling back the layers I found that I was being vetted to support what he was doing rather than us making plans and compromises to grow together. I'm grateful that God kept my eyes open and asking the tough questions. Know and be known by a suitor no matter what his vocation.

    4. Even if they didn’t know what it would entail they track they were on wasn’t a surprise.
    5. They had the same belief system
    6. They went to premarital counseling

Yes to keeping it real! Premarital sex happens! It doesn’t necessarily mean God won’t bless your relationship

This was absolutely awesome, the struggle and advice on marriage would have been great if available while I was married. I will certainly utilize this if God has marriage in store for me. Thank you for having individuals who are relatable. Much apppreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to bring these down to earth couples and singles onto the podcast , To teach us and give us knowledge into what we need for ourselves. I watched your programs to learn and to be a much better person into who God has called me to be, and I thank you Laterras for answering the call of God. What I have learned from this podcast is that, There is no trust without consistency, As human beings, we like predictability, it makes us feel safe and able to relax. i am here,

Great conversation. Beautiful to see love, and God throughout their marriage. Love the gem of the Annual GoalS !!! What a great idea to incorporate into a marriage. Love, the Love check-ins on the awareness of where we are going and how we will accomplish the goals.
