It's amazing how the babies' black beaks turn orange in few weeks. I have got a breeding pair who have raised 5 beautiful chicks and another 3 are hatched about to leave their nest. My pair is very dedicated and good parents. Yes when the babies hatch please give them ground seeds which is easier for parents to regurgitate into the babies mouths. These finches are so tame. Mine are the same but they dont come and sit on me, maybe I should try and spend more time in my aviary than they might too.
This is really a fun video to watch again and again because of the excellent closeup shots of your zebra finches. Also, the babies look so cute snuggling on your hand next to their Mom whilst she is busy eating millet. Their loud chirping is so adorable!! At one time when I was playing this video late at night, Pepe woke up and responded to the babies chirping (towards the end of the video) by chirping himself!
Funny and cute! The baby birds and the mommy are so cute! I love them and I want to touch them!They are fluffy and cute but the mom is not that fluffy but anyway the mom is cute just like the baby birds and I love birds! I have one little zebra finch in my house and this is fun to watch again and again because this is kind of funny and cute and I love how fluffy the birds are and how cute they are! I like watching this video!
What a beautiful video . Now I used to have birds myself many years ago when I was a teenager . And that was two budgies. And they were tame . And I built a nesting box for them . And I experienced them having babies many many times. Because in the Wild birds have babies . So allowed them to mate and have babies . Now just like any other animals . The babies copy and observe their patents ... And because both patents were tame and use to humans . Then the babies thinks thats normal and are also almost born tame . Also when were old enough to taking away from their patents . it made them easy to handle , when I had to move them to another cage . I simply just let them sit on finger and coud move them into a new cage . I aleays sold them ... I had an agreement with the my local . They bought the babies from me and found new homes for them . And since they were tame and use to humans . They were always sold off to new wonderfull homes . But sadly my wonderfull Birds got old . And then they became ill and died . And since then . I simply dont have the time to have birds again ...
I just recently adopted them bought more zebra finches. They love to respond to this video. Do you breed? I would love for this type of interaction with mines.

izabeau1953 i suggest taking the eggs or taking hatchings and hand rearing them. There are online tutorials on how to make liquid food for the babies. Maybe try to get her to stop breeding with fake eggs.
izabeau1953 The babies can't just eat seeds. They need softer food, like crushed up carrots, bananas, and boiled eggs. They might be malnutritioned and not doing well, I think if that is true, then the parents might kind of stop trying to care for them, because they might think they could be dying anyway. I could be wrong. Read a finch manual.

Baby birds are cute, but I can see how bird parents could easily get enough of them.

maybe if I were to put birdseed on my hand and withheld any other meal source , then it might work.

This is beautiful. I grow a Pair of finches myself. They only lay eggs, even if hatched, they throw the hatcjlings away. 😦😦
