I was wrong about doublers being resolving. I've updated this deck by replacing the doublers with more enchantments and auras. The outcome is virtually the same and sligthly more consistent :) www.moxfield.com/decks/RdCHfPl8nkK8YUZqa8qpsw
I’m not 100% on this but I’m pretty sure damage increasers like Fiery Emancipation and Tobran won’t apply after Ojer because the player being attacked/controller of creature being pinged gets to decided which effects take place first. And unless they want to die, they’ll have fiery emancipation trigger first, then Ojer. Making it still 4 damage at base power. Again I’m not certain but it’s worth looking into because it can make a big difference.
I looked into this as well. As it was explained to me, The affected player (The people you will be burning) get to choose the order of things. So If we have the CMDR out and say Fiery Emancipation AND deal 1 Non Combat damage, the player is going to choose 1 x 3 = 3, Commander changes it to 4 (Or whatever his power is) So I think keeping 1 or 2 would be good but going deep into a buffing strategy AND having so many multipliers will not be ideal.
Yeah I guess that’s how it works. I realized this after. Huge bummer, but replacing those doublers with equipments or other power buffs would be more ideal.
@@garrettchenoweth It’s a bummer. Makes me second guess using any of those doublers/triplers now. Seems way more situational then I realized. Power buffs would be best
@@MTGAlpha it is a bummer buuuut it makes the deck cheaper :). I just finished building my own Ojer deck and I’m excited to give it a shot. Great video btw!
I think Rising of the Day from LOTR would be an upgrade over fervor since it also gives the commander 1 more power. Valakut would also be awesome. I enjoyed the deck tech though! Glad to see some early brews for this card
The damage Ojer deals is "to an opponent" so it wouldn't buff damage to a creature. Any spells that say "any target" has to target the player not a creature. Once it is out they should have a ruling on this, but I think they worded it that way on purpose.
For sure! Right, it doesn't buff damage dealt to creatures or planeswalkers, only opponents. But, there are other cards that would buff the damage dealt to other sources like Torbran and Solphim
@@MTGAlpha Yes, but with the caveat that doublelers are put on the stack in the order that the person receiving the damage. So they can apply the doubler before Ojer effect on the stack. That is my understanding. So effects like Torbran and or Mechanized Warfare would be more consistent. I'm building mine without having to use tap effects to push through damage.
Yeah, the doublers won't be effective with Ojer dealing damage to opponents, they would just be for doubling damage to creatures which Ojer doesn't trigger for. If that's what you'd want in your deck, to gain more value from targetting creatures.@@drpepper998
thank you! I'm not sure Goblin Sharpshooter would work well in this specific deck. Basilisk Collar might be nice to guarantee destroying a unit an opponent controls. There's a handful of creautres that deal 1 to any target or target creature. Also found out that Ancient Copper Dragon and Dockside Extortionist are not necessary in this deck.
You want something like a cedh version of this? I’m not sure it’s possible. But if I were going to try it the first thing would be to get rid of all the 3 mana pingers. I’d use the one and two mana versions (like reckless fireweaver and firebrand archer) I’d run a lot of draw and impulse draw like wheels and I would use a lot of rituals and play cards like Birgi and storm kiln artisan then I’d add the cards that let us reuse the graveyard like underworld breach and friends (the one w flash back and the one, mizzex’s mastery) and I’d play a bunch of ultra efficient burn spells like end the festivities that have additional value. Also delayed blast fireball seems great. Maybe a few ways to pump the commander but I don’t think we need to go crazy w that. I think the main hope the deck has is to storm off and cast the hands down best card for this deck. GRAPESHOT! Grapeshot is the best win con here. If you can boost your commander to 7 and build a storm count, let it rip then play it again from the yard? Busted. Oh and obv play fast mana and the deck prob wants a low land count maybe like 26
I do like that actually. Then you can gain more value from the synergy when dealing damage to your opponent's creatures...otherwise they're simply just dealt damage
It's actually a great card in Ojer wym?? Pay 2, Ojer and any other creature that couldn't previously tap to deal 1+ damage to any target, can. Plus you can sacrifice it any time to deal 1+ damage to a player? That is what Ojer does.. turns 1 point of damage into 10+ and sacrice the whip to get another 10 to the face all for two...
@@MTGAlpha honestly fire whip is a pathetic card. You really are banking on 1 damage doing 10 arent you? First off....fire whip is a enchant creature. Enchant creatures are the worst permenents in magic. You have to pay and use a card to get the advantage then you lose twice as many cards when the creature with the enchant dies.....It's just a very bad card and it doesnt even deal the damage to all opponents....I see this card doing 4 damage then another 4 sometimes. Theres just dozens of other cards twice as powerful and have no risk like a creature enchant. Also Id add any random 2 mana creature like firebrand archer will output 10 times the damage of a fire whip, easily.

Cool deck tech looks fun. Very different from the direction I went but that's what's great about this commander!
I'm looking forward to seeing how others build this deck! :) Thanks for watching
Great video! Added a bunch of these to my deck list
Thank you for checking it out!!
Claws of valakut and granit grip. Both give +1 power per mountain. Also the land that makes a god indestructible.
I'll have to check out the land that makes gods indestructible. Claws is in + Granite grip keeps getting swapped in and out
@@MTGAlpha tyrite sanctum is the land.
I'll definitely have to grab that@@valanthedark4958
Nettle Drone actually won’t get an increase from Ojer since it is not red, it’s colorless.

Nettle drone is colorless
Your commander has power 4? O Nagi natta is power 3 or less right?
O Naginatta is power 3 or greater
Quick question: What do you think about the inclusion of Repercussion in this deck?

Furnace of wrath doesnt work?
Dictate doesnt work as well damage doublers/ triplers
Gotta throw in Valakut!
Ah yeah for sure! I have a copy too haha
Valukut is a land which is colorless so won't benefit just an fyi
In commander it has a red color identity
