@@MrParkerman6 He’s talking about Val Kilmer the actor. He got throat cancer and can barely even speak now his voice is completely damaged and he has to talk by pushing this button that’s attached to his throat.
On some parts of the movie it was Jim's actual voice. Val on making of the movie when singing the doors songs had himself in one ear, and Jim Morrison in the other, but he was absolutely immense as Jim i've loved the doors since i was age eleven and i am in my early forty's and Val was amazing as Jim a brilliant actor.
I heard when they were casting for Jim Morrison, Val Kilmer was singing in a doors tribute band and sent the producers a recording of the band and that's how he got the part. At least that's what I've always heard
2:39 “people want to fight of fvck” - Val Kilmer asks Stephen Dorff which of these two he wants to do as soon as he steps into a cell with him in the movie Felon
I remember the movie audience laughing pretty hard at Ray’s reaction. I went to see this with my friends. We were 19 yo, so we were there for Val Kilmer, but there were a lot of early 40 somethings in there that were there for the story.
I never had a bad trip on except once and me and my best friend my my bro well, he is one of my best friends Maddie ice. It was a double dipped motherfucking trip of a lifetime.
I knew Ray and he was just a common guy in public. Very unpretentious and very accomodating. When I met him I could hardly believe it was him because he was just so nice. You'd never know he was famous.
Val Kilmer is an incredible actor, but Oliver Stone gave him a character to play that bordered between fictitious and a caricature. Also, Val and Kyle were in their 30's when they played Jim and Ray. Jim was 21 at the scene that's recreated here. Not that Val looked like he was Jim when he was younger. Cary Elwes did though. Too bad a different director didn't do a Doors movie with Cary around the time of Princess Bride.
No he isnt. He is perfectly on key. I agree though that they don't sound exactly alike like people make them out to be. Really easy to hear the difference.
Actually, when Jim first started singing he sounded a lot like this. You can hear it on the Doors demo album. It was only with a lot of practice that his voice developed into what we know now. Kilmer was able to do both voices very well.
Val Kilmer should've got an award for his portrayal of Jim Morrison
The academy screwed him out of two awards.
Val is the perfect choice for Jim Morisson. I’m sure if Jim were alive today he’d love Val Kilmers movies just like we all do. Well done Val.
A young val…so dreamy 😍
Kilmer nailed it
Val played this part so good!!! He sunk himself! Love it ❤️
An Oscar for him
It’s so sad that he will never sing again
:(
Except he will, dumbass.
@@MrParkerman6 how dummy?

Was it Val Kilmer or Woody Harrelson that was in True Detective. Not sure.
Val Kilmer sang these songs and the surviving members of the Doors thought Jim Morrison was singing
Cuz they a stupid. Easy to tell the two apart.
@@MrParkerman6 yeah the remaining members have done lost their minds
@@MrParkerman6 imagine thinking fans know more about the band mates mannerisms, than the band mates.

Love each character in this movie. One of the hest bands if not the best bands ever
The hest ever for sure.
Always loved the line "We gotta make the myths!" - made a GIF of it
What does that really mean? At least to you?
Val kilmer méritait un oscar
Absolutely. Il etait uncroyable dans ce film
I heard when they were casting for Jim Morrison, Val Kilmer was singing in a doors tribute band and sent the producers a recording of the band and that's how he got the part. At least that's what I've always heard
Lol I never heard that - Val was already an established pretty well-known actor at the time.
Maybe but the lost boys was a huge movie
Love this so much ugh
Val kilmer did his own singing in the film doors
they were all great in their own rite together they were /are a unique rock band super extra-ordinair
somebody called it purple carnival-blues
Awesome
One of my son favorite song
Adoro essa cena momento da concepção dos doors, além da letra e melodia maravilhosa , Ray também deve ter amado a voz de jim morrison
The legend begins
Oliver Stone tried to get Ian Astbury to play Jim. Ian turned him down as he’s not an actor. But did a superb job in the Doors of the 21st Century
2:39 “people want to fight of fvck” - Val Kilmer asks Stephen Dorff which of these two he wants to do as soon as he steps into a cell with him in the movie Felon
And Boom! Lives were changed
Ray was like holy shit

The bass was taking away from his vocals. - Dirk
You got the poweeer - yeah!!
“Doors of perception....ACID!”
Funny how Kilmer just transformed into Jim. He actually looked not much like Jim at all irl but the transformation was amazing!
This fucking film man turned me on to so much the truth & the love the lies
Everything man including the truth
Van Kilmer had so much potential youngest too graduate juliarts
I never had a bad trip on except once and me and my best friend my my bro well, he is one of my best friends Maddie ice. It was a double dipped motherfucking trip of a lifetime.
ray: "cam you sing smoke on the water?"
Val Kilmer looks good in the doors so that's his friend from Brenda
Tom Cruise was originally cast as JIm Morrison. Would have loved to have seen that movie.
I can't imagine that.
Surely you jest! Jason Patric maybe or Aidan Turner..
The guy playing Ray Manzarek comes off like a cross between Peter Fonda and Jim Carey! He sure doesn't have any of Ray's gestures or mannerisms.
Yeah, Kyle Maclachlan was not a great choice. Great actor, but poor choice
I knew Ray and he was just a common guy in public. Very unpretentious and very accomodating. When I met him I could hardly believe it was him because he was just so nice. You'd never know he was famous.
Always thought character in this looked goofy asf, thought it was even supposed to be comedic.
Wait is that goose? Goose and iceman
Or any real depth
What's the name of the song in the beginning playing over head?

What does he said Ive stuck on a ?
"Tricks rooftop"? You mean Dennis Jacob's roof top.
Exactly... That's where Jim spent a good part of the summer of 1965. And he wrote some of The Doors' first songs.
What he Said after Ive stuck...?
☄️

i thought val looked a hell of a lot like jim
Max Yaekle facially there is little similiarity
Cary Elwes looks like Morrison?
Put photos of them next to each other and it's not even close.
Nah man, early 2000 Eric Bana back then would have been perfection, i'm telling you.
É il momento giunto, io ho un nome per questa nuova band Ray, the doors Ray the doors.. ®️🎩🎼🎼🇺🇲🇮🇹 By Raffa....
Val has a decent voice but he's no Jim Morrison.
0:31 ... Thank me later
Se me tio un sanoedro jajaja
Val was great terrible wig
😴
I heard that Val Kilmer was a shite actor, then I watched this film.
I'm sorry, but these guys are like one-dimensional cartoon characters trying too hard.
this is like a lifetime movie about the doors
Know you just know it. Caise he started it after he really was like this came follower hippie but jim was a poetic naturaly like plus the heroin
kilmer is tone deaf. morrison was a good singer.
No he isnt. He is perfectly on key. I agree though that they don't sound exactly alike like people make them out to be. Really easy to hear the difference.
Julliard doesn’t produce tone deaf musicians.
