With USPS Ive had packages show up in tracking as arriving in my city. Later it shows it has departed my city and gone to a different city. Then at some point it arrives back in my city and "eventually" shows up 2-3 days late!!!!! Dont know if this is a tracking flaw or my packages gets put on the wrong truck!!!! And it happens more often than not with USPS!
Nice video. I have two Amiga 1000's, neither work. They both come on and the screen goes through color changes but never ask for boot disks. All kinds of ideas about which chips to check but I dont have spare chips to swap out other than between the two. I always have a heck of a time getting the chips back in. Seems like there is always one leg that wants to not go in or bend.
You should complain to your local postmaster the next time you have to drive to the post office. If the postal worker doesn't want to walk to your door to obtain a signature, which I presume someone has paid for, then they probably shouldn't work for USPS.
Good video! Could you share where you got the rejuvinator? I have one but it’s original. I’d like to get a spare and or store my original. Thanks for sharing.
Probably a postman with the same contract/salary that's also afraid to loose money if he spends too much time on a single package. At least that's what ruined the postal service over here in Germany, where we went from a federal service paying the delivery personal liveable wages per hour, to a fully commercial delivery market giving the delivery "contractors" just a tiny payment per package, no matter how long it takes them to deliver it.
@@fradd182Me neither. Obviously with small amounts of RAM and the slow FDD, the whole system hobbled performance wise. A hard drive requires increasing the amount of RAM used for buffers by the OS, to take advantage of the extra speed. Which isn't great if you have low amounts of RAM to start with. But the Amiga custom chips can only access the chip ram, whilst the CPU can access fast ram too. Without fast ram, the CPU and custom chips have to alternate access to chip ram, effectively halving the CPUs performance.
@@another3997 It's only an issue if you are doing something that demands a lot of the Chip RAM, most of the time the 68000 isn't having to wait its turn. I never had Fast RAM on the A500 and didn't have a problem; some 3D games were very slow but with a 7Mhz 68000 adding memory isn't going to provide a big boost, you need a much higher clock speed and ideally a more advanced CPU like the 68020. The 68000 only accesses memory on every second clock cycle, so the Amiga was designed for the Chip RAM to be accessed by the chipset on the 'odd' cycle. The '020 CPU and upward access memory on EVERY clock cycle, so if the chipset is using ALL the Chip RAM then the CPU is slowed down a lot. That was an issue with the A1200, because even modestly taxing games (by the standards of the early 90s) could make it rather sluggish, and having a bit of Fast RAM becomes very desirable in that case. The 'Slow RAM' of the A1000 and A500 is essentially Fast RAM in that it serves the CPU exclusively but it shares the same address space on the memory bus as Chip RAM (some of my language might not be totally correct here, but the gist is right), so it wasn't as effective as true Fast RAM. However, memory expansions for both machines connected to the side expansion port was true Fast RAM.
Wow, this is a really weird board. Why didn't the designer split the board into 2 and use ribbon in the middle? Also, have you thought about adding Pi Storm?
It definitely is. It was designed in the early 1990's and this is a replica of that board design. My guess is the designer was going for a kind of replacement for the daughterboard (which is also a bit weird) found in the NTSC version of the Amiga 1000. Regarding the PiStorm, I did try it out in this same Amiga and have a video on the experience. Worked great previously. I've tinkered with putting it back in now, but there seems to be some conflict with the new RAM board and the PiStorm. There is a video in the works on this. I just broke one of the primary components and have some parts ordered to fix it (waiting for shipping from Europe to the US)
I have family that works for USPS, some delivery people. They'd all say the same thing, report that a--hole. He's giving them all a bad name, and they work too hard for that sh-t.
I have talked to the office a few times about this already. My guess is that they are so over-worked and short staffed, there isn't anything they can do. From my side, I have asked anyone shipping anything to remove the need for a signature.

I have twice. I was simply told it would be fixed...it hasn't been.
Build it also with a 2MB Agnus 8375 , but was tricky to get to work ❤
My issue was finding an appropriate Agnus was pricey and the board itself was already pricey...maybe in the future :)

There is a thread on Amibay with at least one person building them in Germany.
I had the same thing happen to me today, re: USPS. I wonder if we have the same postman? lol

Did the A1000 originally come with 256k of chip ram or 512k of chip ram with the 256k front expansion?
512kb with the front expansion. Without it you only had 256kb. With this upgrade, and the right fat agnus, you can upgrade all the way to 2mb.
@@powerofvintage9442 thanks it’s been a long time since I owned an A1000
So, no fast RAM on this Amiga? As much as i know, the lack of it seriously cripples Amiga.
Without a hard drive, it's just fine. However, I have some plans....
@@powerofvintage9442 Hmmm, i dont see a connection between HDD and fast RAM but then, i know so little about the system...
