Dave Meniketti has been a favorite of mine from back in the early to mid 80’s. I was in Germany and a buddy turned me on to Y&T. Forever was the first song I heard and from there I was all in. I learned a bunch of Y&T songs back then along with The Scorpions, Thin Litzy, Gary Moore, Saxon, Ozzy, The Who, Night Ranger, Bon Jovi, Mountain, Nazareth, Rush, Grand Funk, Pat Travers, Led Zeplin, Bad Co. 38 Special, Lover Boy, Sammy Hagar, Montroes, Hendrix, Van Halen, The Cars, The Eagles, Joan Jet, Pat Benetar, Foreiner, Molly Hachet, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Atlantic Rhythm Section, Judis Priest, Dio, Black Sabath, Golden Ear Ring, Robin Trower, Def Lepard, Motley Crew, The Tubes, Pink Floyd, and on and on. It’s hard to learn that many songs and I’m sure there was more than that. I played in several bands over there and toured the Army and Air Force clubs scattered through out Germany. We played everywhere and when I wasn’t playing in a rock band that weekend I was playing in a country band. It was fun, I was young, and loved every minute of it. I would give anything to do it all over again, without the DUI’s though. I drank a lot back then. lol…
That's an awesome list, I still listen to all but 6 or 8 on your list. Y&T actually played in a small pool hall last year. I saw them in 1983 I was 19, I got tickets at last minute. My memory escapes me but we ended up hitchhiking. Poor Stevie Ray Vaughn was booed a little we weren't to familiar but it was also sprinkling then clouds would part, then sprinkles. Y&T came on and they removed the plastic covers from speaker stacks and Open Fire! Dave's friend Sammy was pretty good too!
Love Y&T. Forever, Rescue Me, Mean Streak, Dont Be Afraid Of The Dark, Midnight In Tokyo, Dirty Girl, Black Tiger,...and their catalog goes on. This band is great. Dave's voice is still strong as well. Nice interview

Have been a fan since the 80’s thanks for all the wonderful music to get laid by,,,lol Your music has been my guitar riffs from forever to black Tiger. And so many others. This was my take when mean streak came out it was 4.99 i bought it ( great album) there was some radio airplay klos kmet ( LA) i cant speak for the rest of the us was disappointed with summertime girls ( looking for the hit single) A&M MCA RCA these labels didn't know to market? Rock n roll metal bands in general !
This guy I worked with gave Dave a Les Paul in Sacramento in the 90s I believe it was a expensive guitar that Don just gave him it was trippy, Dave is the coolest.
Sad that Joey, Leonard and Phil are no longer here. Classic lineup. That said, Summertime Girls was their commercial high water mark and they just didn’t craft other songs along that pop/rock vein. As a heavier band, they didn’t fully grasp the pop element that many bands need to have in order to really break. Dave even admits his reluctance to Summertime Girls, when it’s the catalyst that put them on MTV and the radio.
Y&T is CRIMINALLY underrated but their influence, peer respect & 5+ decade career is musical redemption...Get well soon BIG man Dave!

Dave Men8ketti was a huge influence on me as a guitar player. Massively underrated.
