      That REALLY changed the perception of how I thought n felt about him. To admit he allowed society to dictate how he thought, how he felt, n how he acted was a sign he knew he needed help n sought it out. Dealing with it taught him how to compartmentalize n move forward bcoz that cockiness is still there

    I was also cocky as could be in my youth because I thought I was something, until injuries hit and I could never be the same again. The experience humbled me and helped me learn what it was like to be on the other side. Without injuries, I would have been and stayed a rude, condescending individual. Be humble and empathetic when God gives you something great because it can easily be taken away.

      Same man I played tennis and was so cocky I think I pushed people away. Got a bad knee injury and every step to get back on the court humbled me more amd more. I gave up the pro dream but have grown so much I want to teach the next generation. Injuries suck but keeping a good mentality it can create an even better opportunity

      Yeah I agree. I've never heard this level of detail about the aftermath of this situation. He'd just casually joke about it. And talk about how he finessed the league with the contract he signed. I remembered someone in the comments saw through all the jokes. Turns out whoever noticed it first was right on the money. The gun issues and the injuries broke his spirit. And for the longest he used humour to manage it.

      Those incidents stemmed from different emotions tho. He was young, stupid & didn’t take the process seriously. Fast forward, now he’s injured, unable to play how he used to play & now he’s doubting his abilities, plus being concerned about outside opinions. Hell the man still has a mouth on him.
