I'm just getting into his music and I'm 65. It's funny because I'm remembering many of these melodies from my childhood, and they're coming back to me now. His music is truly remarkable and memorable.

A few years ago, I attended a high school performance of Fiddle Faddle performed in San Antonio, TX, by the Plano West Orchestra at the TMEA String Honor Orchestra concert. The performance was incredible, and the reaction from the audience comprised mostly of Texas orchestra teachers was enthusiastic just as with the Novosibirsk orchestra. L. Anderson's music is always well-received and is always a show stopper.

A piece of music played very well, brings as much joy to the player as it does to the listener. It is wonderful to share the joy of music. well done, all of you.

Audience participation is expected in high-energy novelty pieces of this kind, and are the ultimate audience appreciation.

Yes, you have a good memory. This was the theme on the original season (1952) of "I've Got a Secret," hosted by Garry Moore. Original panelists were: Bill Cullen, Henry Morgan, Faye Emerson and Jayne Meadows (Steve Allen's wife). The announcer/sidekick was Durward Kirby, not Johnny Olson . Olson didn't join Goodson-Todman until 1958, but had announced for other, earlier game shows (Break the Bank, Name That Tune).

Has anyone ever heard the Bluegrass version of this composition (Fiddle Faddle)? It was complete with lyrics and vocals. The last line sang in the tune was, "They spent their honeymoon in Arthur Fiedler's....Fiddle Section"The recording was on an RCA 45 RPM record, from the very early 1950's.I'd love to hear that version and possibly have it on file.Thx,DDZZ55

Jacob Wojnar It really does! Anderson was such a clever composer that he could adopt the feel of others' compositions without venturing so far as to commit plagiarism. Listening to his "Irish Suite", I hear what sounds like the influence of Max Steiner and Tchaikovsky at different points.

This is a joke, of course. Conducting is not easy. The picture here is a result of a HUGE job before the concert! The normal conductor usually conducts thinking about the rhytm. But many famous conductors are working with orchestra so "impactful", that on the concert the musicians are playing without "rhytm assistance". But conductor shows the musical things such as dynamic, emotional fillings, and phrasing, of course.
