'Vienna' was created in medieval Latin as a translation of the German name 'Wien'. In the local dialects, it is called 'Wean'. The Roman name was 'Vindobona'. 'Wien is also the name of the river that flows from the 'Wienerwald' (Vienna Wood) through the 'Wiental' (Vienna Valley). Some Americans spend a week in Vienna without finding out what 'Wien' means and pronounce it like 'wine'. Sadly the French writing of several locations in Europe was introduced into the English language and falsified the local names like 'Cologne' for 'Köln'. Scientists are still uncertain why Vienna is called 'Becs' in Hungarian and a few Slavic languages.

@@WyattandReykai think the "Donau Insel" is the bigest "Park" in a city Worldwide. The Prater is huge and there are many other parks all over Vienna. And it is the only capital city worldwide with agriculture in metropoltan area.
Actually the ornates inside St. Stephans are foremost baroque style ornates..so to speak "the church/building was built in gothic style but "the whole interior in it is foremost baroque style" (=the altars, pictures, basically everything which is made out of wood, the organ, and many of the sculptures, not all of them there are gothic style sculptures as well obviously) That what you pointed at and called "that is the Hofburg palace" was not the main building but just an extension building, but I admit it is due to its position in front of the open square "the huge eye catcher" of the whole complex.. but it is the by far "the youngest building" of the whole Hofburg complex and was built in the middle of the 19th century, to give you perspective the oldest parts of the Hofburg complex are from the 13th century.. And about nature within the city there is a 6 square kilometer natural Park named "Prater" (= more than double as big than NY Central Park) with woods, meadows and waters + a 25 km long island on the River Danube cutting through the whole city from the west end to the east end + several other huge natural parks with several square kilometers but not as that big as the Prater besides over 2000 small parks sprinkeled in every Viennese district. And everything is called "Wiener" because the German name of Vienna is "Wien" and "Wiener" means just "Viennese"...when you are thinking of a certain kind of sausage (which I guess you do) that´s because that sort of sausage is originally from Vienna (but it is named "Frankfurter" in Austria) and that sausage got also exported to Germany and as consequence German butchers copied it and renamed it into "Wiener" based on its point of origin for their local market because they had also "their own sort of Frankfurter sausage which looked exactly the same but was a totally different tasting sausage due to different meat for the filling" so they had to rename it, and "that into "Wiener" renamed German copy" was brought by German immigrants to the USA. Although the "Viennese original" tastes way better than the "German copy", and the "German copy" tastes way better than the "American copy" ...no contest at all..
The Sausage was invented by a butcher from Frankfurt --> Frankfurter He produced them in Vienna, because in Germany it was not allowed to mix beef and pork --> Wiener
Haha... you guys have to be American^^ "It's so funny how PPL here call everything Wiener" xD You know, this city is called "Wien" (what means little rome to dumb it down) and since English isn't the universal language, why should we call stuff "Viennese", lol? Of course we call it Wiener, like the PPL living here also are called Wiener (you were a wiener too, btw^^) and it's a Very old city, so... I'd rather say you calling a Viennese sausage "wiener" is wierd, not the opposite. I will simply call a hairy naked arse "a New Yorker" from now on, maybe it becomes famous ;)
@@WyattandReyka ... the word WIENER. (not "Weiner" - this would be a man crying ... 😇). Weinen = to cry. Wien = Vienna. Wiener = Viennese. Wein = wine. Very confusing, unfortunately ...
We never add the state to place names, so no “Vienna, Austria”, but just “Vienna” or rather “Wien”. Anyway, Vienna is a city state so it would coorrectly be referred to saying “Vienna, Vienna”, like “New York, New York”… or would you say “New York, USA”?
The Habsburgs (with a "b", not "p") were an imperial family ... The "Volksgarten" is pronounced with an "f", like "folk" in English (basically the same word with the same meaning) ...
"Vienna is not green", not much trees they said. Lol! Half of Vienna is green! trees, parks, gardens... They are a joke. IN French we say : they are "ploucs"!
Next time, in any country, please ask one lokal guy how to pronounce all the places. Some have english names like Vienna and Saint Stevens, that's ok, but most are german, and pronouncing them just anyhow sounds really horrible.

Thanks for the feedback!! Honestly means a lot. When one person says it usually means 100 are thinking it. A few responses. Please don’t take them as rude. We’re trying to improve. How can we be less disrespectful? In our eyes, we are highlighting how beautiful Vienna is, and sharing some about the history and culture and what a trip there could look like. Is it the mistakes we make that are the disrespectful part? Also, speaking of mistakes, this is definitely something we need to improve on. We accept that. Research has never been our strong suit. In general we just love traveling and filming. At the beginning of travel vlogging we didn’t know researching was part of the job too haha. We try to look up and double check everything we say before we post. But sometimes mistakes sneak through. It’s tough because we’d argue that 95% of what we say is right. But folks focus in on the mistakes. Not making excuses. That’s okay to focus on mistakes and keep us on honest. It’s just tough when what we get right isn’t given equal exposure. We will start triple checking everything though! Thank you for pushing us this way! Also, if you think we make a lot of money from this, think again haha. We are barely scraping by. But the experiences are more valuable right now than money for us. Anyways, take care. Wishing you well. ❤️

That what you pointed at and called "that is the Hofburg palace" was not the main building but just an extension building, but I admit it is due to its position in front of the open square "the huge eye catcher" of the whole complex.. but it is the by far "the youngest building" of the whole Hofburg complex and was built in the middle of the 19th century, to give you perspective the oldest parts of the Hofburg complex are from the 13th century..
Wow thanks for helping us out with all that! Interesting stuff! Cheers 👍
The Sausage was invented by a butcher from Frankfurt --> Frankfurter
He produced them in Vienna, because in Germany it was not allowed to mix beef and pork --> Wiener
11:11 Winter residence is not entirely wrong. But the term "main residence" would be better. Schönbrunn was the summer residence.
Thank you for clarifying that haha we found mixed opinions on the internet
Haha... you guys have to be American^^ "It's so funny how PPL here call everything Wiener" xD You know, this city is called "Wien" (what means little rome to dumb it down) and since English isn't the universal language, why should we call stuff "Viennese", lol? Of course we call it Wiener, like the PPL living here also are called Wiener (you were a wiener too, btw^^) and it's a Very old city, so... I'd rather say you calling a Viennese sausage "wiener" is wierd, not the opposite. I will simply call a hairy naked arse "a New Yorker" from now on, maybe it becomes famous ;)
Haha give it your best shot! That would be hilarious! 🤣
Interesting about the grammar and use of the word Weiner. Cheers!
@@WyattandReyka ... the word WIENER. (not "Weiner" - this would be a man crying ... 😇). Weinen = to cry. Wien = Vienna. Wiener = Viennese. Wein = wine. Very confusing, unfortunately ...
@@WyattandReyka 😄
The AI Voice is disgusting. Please just talk in english. Everyone in Austria will understand you.
What is the AI voice? Is it an auto translate? We spoke in English we thought haha

So epic! Thanks for sharing! ☺️
Budapest is worth a visit and you both need a carriage ride if they still offer those in Vienna.
We want to visit Budapest!! And a carriage ride in Vienna seems amazing hahaha
We never add the state to place names, so no “Vienna, Austria”, but just “Vienna” or rather “Wien”. Anyway, Vienna is a city state so it would coorrectly be referred to saying “Vienna, Vienna”, like “New York, New York”… or would you say “New York, USA”?
"New York, USA" wäre vergleichbar mit "Vienna, EU"
We often say New York USA. Love Vienna tho and wanted to make sure people know where Vienna is - Austria 🥰
Zoofurz... lebe schon immer in Wien; das hab i aber no nie gesehn xD
Hahaha glad we showed you some thing new!
The Habsburgs (with a "b", not "p") were an imperial family ...
The "Volksgarten" is pronounced with an "f", like "folk" in English (basically the same word with the same meaning) ...
Thank you!! 🙏☺️
Are Austrians really friendly people?
Yes!! Great people 🥰
"Vienna is not green", not much trees they said. Lol! Half of Vienna is green! trees, parks, gardens... They are a joke. IN French we say : they are "ploucs"!
Ploucs means “awesome people”? lol. We were probably just in the wrong part of the city
hahaha!
They eat almost exclusively Arabic food :)
It’s one of our favorite kinds of food
Hahaha
the voice over is greepy andoften absolutincorrect
Haha the voiceover is creepy?
Where are my fellow citizens from Vienna?
(I live in Vienna)😂
Wo sind meine Mitbürger aus Wien?
(Ich wohne in wien)😂
Here I am, da bin ich doch😂😂
There are lots!!! 😂☺️👍
Next time, in any country, please ask one lokal guy how to pronounce all the places.
Some have english names like Vienna and Saint Stevens, that's ok, but most are german, and pronouncing them just anyhow sounds really horrible.
It will take you just 5 minutes, record them to know them.
Oops haha we will ask next time! Sometimes we don’t have enough time but we’ll try to research beforehand lol
You are visiting Vienna an eat an Kebab?? Kebab is turkish!
The austrian cuisine is so diverse and realy fantastic and you eat oriental foods??
The water isnt "salty"
You know nothing about austria
lol sometimes u gotta just eat what u want. We love falafel. Eventually had a LOT of Austrian food it was super good. Your country has awesome food.
And of course we know nothing that’s why we travel - to learn 🥰
Legend says that the swans in Vienna are still terrified when they hear people speaking Romanian language.
Haha did Romania invade Austria at some point??
@@WyattandReykaNo - it was founded as vindoboba by Romans.
The word Romania comes from Roman, the language is near to latin
i´m from Vienna👍🩷
It’s an amazing city!! 🇦🇹
@@WyattandReyka ❤❤
You go to Vienna and eat a Kebab?? WTF
Haha it was delicious I promise

You should travel to other countries in Central Europe;
- Czech Republic 🇨🇿
- Slovakia 🇸🇰
- Hungary 🇭🇺
We want to!! There are so many places to visit in Europe haha we would love to dedicate a year to exploring the whole thing!
Richtiges wienerichesch haben sie nicht gegessen.
We eventually did 🥰
Dont say germany to austria 😡🤬😡
Da geht's nur um die Sprache, also alles ok.
In german - auf deutsch
