    Cody, thank you very much for the informative information that you share regarding the Bernina machines. I'm a new Bernina owner and your videos have been invaluable to me. What brands of thread would you consider "Good" thread? I'm currently using Gutermann and Aurifil. I used to use Coates and Clark until I was told it's bad for the machines. By the way, I love Pete, he's so cute!

    I am loving your videos. You are a great instructor and clearly communicate with your audience. I had watched several and was convinced you had a squeaky chair and each time you moved, it squeaked! Well, I was surprised to see Pete in this video and now it all makes sense. I was about ready to start a collection to get you a new chair!! :)

    Cody, I love how organized and well-spoken you are. Well done. This hit the nail on the head for a number of issues I have had. Thanks for the clarity and keep up the good work. I also loved the video showing your beautiful goats and the lovely quilt you made to show binding. Lovely colors and workmanship. Very inspiring. I can't say enough good things. Somebody stop me! Take care and be happy.

    Thank you for all the Bernina information. I bought my Bernina 570 QE in May 2021. The folks who sell you the machine don’t always tell you these little tips. For instance I never knew it was good to oil your machine every 8 to 10 hours of use. I do that now! Thanks for mentioning about the thread cutter going dull, I use that a lot

    Instead of telling customers how to prevent “top issues” maybe Bernini could actually design a machine that doesn’t HAVE the issues……. Solve before selling machines

    Thank you for the great info. You hit all the problems I've had. One FYI, my Bernina instructor said to be careful when transporting your machine. The buttons on the front of the machine are fragile and can be knocked off if you bump them. I can't wait to go to in person classes again.

      I go my dealership to get together with some of the ladies to sew and fellowship. The technician made knob stabilizers by using the foam from the box. He cut holes to match the knobs. I just use painters tape to keep it in place when transporting to and from classes

    Thankyou so much, Cody. Today was my first day home alone with my Bernina 770 and I had many of the issues you have mentioned. I put it down to a learning curve and was as gentle as I could be in removing my birds nests from underneath my fabric. I have taken all your valuable knowledge on board and will start afresh tomorrow with less problems I'm sure.

    My wife's Q20 quilting machine has had problems with skipped stitches since Day One. Repeated service calls at $175 each have failed to find a permanent solution. There's no "official" Bernina service center within a hundred miles, and even if there were, you can't just dismantle a $20,000 setup and haul it to the shop. The machine itself is so poorly engineered as to defy belief. There's absolutely no justifiable reason for the wildly complex path that the thread is forced to follow from bobbin to needle. Every loop and part that it comes into contact with is a potential source of friction and binding and fraying, and there are many. I would never recommend the Q20 to anyone, ever, under any circumstances unless they're insanely wealthy and live next door to a repair facility that can make frequent visits to sort out recurring problems.

    My 4D foot won’t work. On the screen the line of straight stitch is red! And the 570 won’t budge. When I change to a 1C or 1D I get the green line of straight stitching again. But making cording requires the needle to be very close to the cord so I use the 4D zipper foot. What am I doing wrong?

    It is so very nice to meet you Pete! Guilty as charged 🙋🏻‍♀️for calling my Bernina dealer in a panic only to learn my bobbin winder was engaged. 😂. All great tips and a comment. Manual bobbin thread cutter inside bobbin case on my 350 was razor sharp. It’s dull and crappy on my new 475. Such a tiny thing to be bummed out about but it’s an important one and disappointing for a new machine of this caliber and expense. Keep up the great work Cody. We appreciate you! ❤️🌵🇺🇸

    I have a new Bernina 335. I am using it for free machine embroidery using the special darning foot, material tight in a hoop. I have done a few samples successfully. Suddenly the bobbin thread started to show too much - eyelashing. I rethread both the top and bottom threads. I changed both threads. I decreased the top tension - Going as far as zero. I cleaned the bottom bobbin area. I tested on normal calico material with normal straight stitch and its like it is doing light gathering. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Could you suggest what else I could try?

    Regarding skipped stitches, also check the presser foot for damage, especially the 34d clear sole foot. Thread wears into the clear foot sole after extensive sewing and causes skipped stitches. Perhaps this problem is exacerbated from gutterman or metallic thread. Fortunately, the foot soles are easily replaceable.

    And yet another issue…… really big rats nest of top thread on the backside. Let me ask this also, I’ve had tension issues. Is it weird to have to set top tension back to 1.75? That seems to be where I’m not getting bobbin thread showing on the top. But I wonder if it’s a little too loose and possibly causing the nesting catastrophe on the back. Thank you very much. BTW I have a deco 70 machine just purchased 1/22.

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This can be tricky to diagnose without having g the machine in front of me but it could be a couple of things.
      1 something is wrong with the upper tension and it’s not release and is too tight so it’s pulling up the bobbin thread. Butttt you mentioned you decreased the top thread tension and still is the same so that most likely isn’t the issue but still a small possibility.
      2 the bobbin case isn’t getting thread just right so not getting enough tension. We see this to be the case 8/10 times with customers with this and similar machines.
      3. The bobbin case’s tensioner is broken so it’s able to apply the correct tension.
      Okay he only case where nothing is technically wrong is when we see customers decrease a small design so small that the bobbin thread is too thick to just stay on the bottom and is forced to show itself on the top. We see this a lot with thin fonts. So the only way to fix the issue if that’s the case is to use a very thin bobbin thread like “decobob” by Wonderfil threads.
      Hope this helps

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes all current model bernina machines can have the screen calibrated. Before you turn on the machine hold down both needle position buttons "located under the stitch width and length knobs" then turn the machine on.. Make sure you are still holding down needle position buttons and when the machine boots up and the screen turns solid white, then you can let go. Now you will see a little circle appear use your stylus and click the center of the circle, it will then appear two more times in two different locations. Now your screen has been recalibrated. :)
