    I can’t thank you enough for this video. I have had my 770QE for over five years and have never figured out the perfect way to chain piece until watching you and your explanation. I look forward to learning more you. Right now I’m heading to my machine to do some chain piecing.👏

    It's the little things that you miss, that really make a difference in your sewing experience. I am not new to sewing, but am new to Bernina. I learned so much from your video. Thank you so much for posting these helpful tips. It's so great to know about the differences in the first three piecing stitches, abd how to access that info with the "i" button. I had a lot of good reasons to switch to Bernina. I am finding more reasons every day. 🥰

    Thank you so much. I bought my 770QE when my local dealer was going out of business and it sat unused for 2 years because I had no training. Lately I’ve been getting my training on TH-cam and started a quilt. I just found your TH-cam channel and this episode was so well done and in-depth. I subscribed and am looking forward to watching more.

    The stitch I am using is 1324 in my b770. Sorry if I said the wrong stitch. If you are using a different Bernina, make sure you press on the quilting icon to the right of the screen. Look for the stitch which has tiny stitches at the beginning and at the end.

    Thank you "sew" much for the great video. Your camera work was so nice and close. I use that stitch quite a lot but I didn't know about pressing the triangle with the line to go to the beginning of stitch, I just usually hit the 1324. Again, thank you!!

    • @getquiltsdone8595

      I use the Bernina machine oil. That way I know it is the correct type. You have a high end machine and you want to use high end products to keep it in good condition.

    FYI ….until you are able to add the upgrade to the 770+ you still need to tell the machine which foot you are using. It will not change on the basic 770 screen but the machine still needs this information and it is a safety feature also. Thank you for your take on chain piecing!

    • @getquiltsdone8595
      @getquiltsdone8595  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got the upgrade to my 770+ but I still have to tell the machine what foot I have on the machine. In fact, when I change feet, it won’t sew till I tell it what foot I have on it.

  • @Carol_Sews

    Wonderful tips. I just bought a new 570 QE and am looking forward to using the 1324 stitch. I plan to save the stitch length to 2.0 also. I’m wondering how the machine knows not to put those small securing stitches in the middle of my piece when I stop sewing to readjust the fabric. Does it have to do with pushing the reverse button? I love the knee lift, so I’m not sure how the hover would help me. Maybe sometime I’ll find it useful.

    • @getquiltsdone8595
      @getquiltsdone8595  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your welcome ☺️ Enjoy your new Bernina!. It is the reverse button that tells the machine to complete the stitching with tiny stitches.

    I just got the BERNINA 770QE Plus. If this is a quilting machine, I am wondering why BERNINA didn’t include the piecing foot?
    Also, how are you able to use that guide when, if sewing 1/4” seam, it lands right on the feed dogs?

    At the risk of asking a stupid question I’ll ask. I am new to sewing. Are you pressing the pattern begin between each piece (the start of sewing two new pieces). I hope to master this machine one day…I appreciate your time in making content.

    • @mehere779
      @mehere779 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you press the reverse to sew the short stitches at the end of a piece, the machine "re-sets" so it will start over again with the short stitches when you start to sew.

    • @getquiltsdone8595
      @getquiltsdone8595  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Practice on a scrap piece of fabric. Sew then press the reverse button then let the machine finish and then begin again. That way you can get a feel for what the machine is doing. Once you get use to it, it will flow.

  • @SewWhittle

    I recently got the 770QE Plus. I am trying to get the perfect 1/4” seam allowance. I noticed you took that guide and placed it right on top of the feed dogs. Does this harm the machine in any way? TIA

    • @ShemeshRuth
      @ShemeshRuth 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hope to do a video just on that subject. In the meantime I will explain. If you turn over the seam gauge you will see a cut out line. When you turn it over and put it on the machine notice it goes directly over the feed dogs. In other words Bernina created a space directly over the feed dogs and they will move without touching the gauge. I hope this helps.

      I think when the camera turns on I seem to make mistakes which I don't normally make, LOL. The stitch is 1324 on my b770. However if it is not the same on every machine, Here is how you find it. Go to the right side of the screen and press on the icon which represents the quilting section. Find the stitch which is tiny little stitches at the beginning and at the end. That should be the same stitch. share.icloud.com/photos/043tvXB6AIAvkyJbAdzdEfMgA
