The methodological pacing, the build up, and the pay off. Henk Poort is like Fed Ex because he dropped off the goods! BTW - This show rocks, you should watch more of them! They gather famous musicians together and having a fun competition of sorts where they sing songs they normally don't do and even collab with each other in unique ways. Worthy! - เพลง

In the show every week the episode is dedicated to one of the singers, that singer then sits in the middle sofa with the host and gets interviewd about their life/career etc. The other singers then sing covers of that artist songs or songs that has meaning to that singer like Henk did in this episode that was Floors episode, he sang a cover of Distubed's cover of Sound of silence that is more of Floors type of music.
The way I'd explain the show is that it's a celebration of music in all of it's different styles. It gives the singers the opportunity to explore styles and genres that they might not normally ever consider. The 'winner' of each episode is really just the song that touched the person being sung to the most. There are no losers on a show like this.
I really, really wish we'd have a show like this in the US instead of all these crap competitions.

actually it isn't a competition but rather a tribute show,the original idea was if the artist being in the center of todays show ,would get ill and needed a replacement ,who would he or her choose to fill their empty spot,in that way it is more of an audition show. But as said that's the original idea many seasons ago now it is more singing out of respect for the artist. It shows how much they are as an artist instead of being a commercialy viable star and the joy it brings to themselves as a person. Why it creates this atmosphere of intimacy and of being connected.
I love how Floor transforms into a fangirl around Henk! I hadnt heard of Henk either before this, he is amazing.
Floor admired Henk growing up, and yeah she really is "Fangirling" him. They have mutual admiration for sure. Thank you for reacting to this.
I think the main difference with other shows is that this is more about having fun together making music, celebrating music with collegues from different genres and ages. It is going back to being musicians in stead of the commercial part.

Welcome to your first "Henkgasm" or "Poortgasm" hehehe
The show itself, its not a competition, it can give that idea due to the honoree of the evening, picking a favorite performance at the end, but it isnt about winning or competing.
As i mentioned Honoree, that is the core of the show in itself, each season 7 singers get invited to the show, and each will get one episode dedicated to them as the honoree for that particular evening.
The remaining 6 singers will then honor the spotlighted singer, by doing versions of the honoree's songs or versions of songs that mean a lot to said honoree.
Usually this means that 3 singers will do a original song by the honoree, and the other 3 will do cover songs with meaning to the honoree. (can be anything really, just aslong as it has meaning to the one in the spotlight)
The evening this is from, was Floor's evening to be the honoree, and Henk sang this for her as this song has special meaning to Floor.
All in all, it isnt a competition like i said already, you best look at it as a "celebration of the love for music and singing" all wrapped up in a neat packaged, intimate show where the viewers get to know the artists from a much more personal perspective, you get to see more of their everyday personas, and.. they get to sing songs they normally wouldnt be able to sing (in their daily profession).
So Opera singer Henk, got to sing with distortion for Floor, Floor sang a metal version of an Operetta song for Henk, Rolf sang a Latin inspired version of Hotel California for Floor etc etc.
So with 7 singers, that makes for 7 dedicated episodes + 1 episode for the duets at the end.
The duets are their "free-for-all" and they can pretty much sing any of the duets they always wanted to sing.

He sang this song for Floor. Each of the singer gets one night where they sit in the 'hot spot' and everyone sings songs to them, that is personal to the person in the 'hot spot'. This was Floor's night, and Henk Poort sang this song to her. Not a competition, just music appreciation.

Nooo no competition!! there are 7 beste zangers *best singers* and each episode is dedicated to 1 of the singers, so the other 6 are singing for that 1 that the episode is for.
it can be a song from that singer her/himself or a song that he/she loves etc.

No competition to the show, no winners chosen. People tend to get confused because one video is titled "Floor Jansen - Winner" so they assume she won. Actually, that video is her singing a song titled "Winner".

Beste zangers is actually like in a begin of a letter. So actually Dear singers, you as professional performers,Who would you like to perform your material in case of you being stick or otherwise incapacitated to perform it by yourself . The original format of this show. The other artists do like an audition for the highlighted artist per show . But it became more like tribute to eachother. Hence the outstanding high quality of the perfomances. They enjoy to be in eachother's presence.
How is he doing that sitting like that? It makes me think of a meditation practice. It's called 'sitting like a mountain'! And that is exactly what he does. In this performance he went out of his comfort zone for the first time singing with this distorted voice. He did this in honor of Floor to whom he's singing. She is actually a fan of Henk since her childhood. He was one of the people that inspired her to choose her career. A powerful voice he has and this song fits him like a glove.

The thing about Henks performance is this. In the roles he always played, distortion in the voice is a disqualified. He did this strictly for Floor in tribute to her style of music. And don’t forget the huge grin she gave after he did it in Phantom also. Really outside of his comfort range, and he nailed it.
This is a cover of a cover. Originally this is performed by Simon and Garfunkel, but the cover that Hank is doing is a cover of the cover that Disturbed does with the singer David Draiman does. That one is one you should react to. It's amazing!

The competition for these pro singers is to go outside of their comfort zone and see how they perform. So it's only a competition with yourself as a pro, to drive you to new heights.
All whilst us Dutchies can enjoy it at home on the couch on television.
The Netherlands produces more talent (on more things than just music) per the amount of inhabitants than any other country.
I personally believe this is because we are a down to earth, logical and straight forward people that say how it is, this to the point of foreigners finding us blunt and rude. It does however take away guesswork and helps us in achieving at much higher levels quicker.
The saying "If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much" might sound arrogant to a foreigner but like I said, a Dutch person won't say that unless they are sure that it's honestly the case.
I think this video is definitely a reason to not arrogantly but proudly say that.
Henk definitely stole that one from Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and made it his own.
I believe I hear those two are going to be launched into space soon via a Russian rocket... because just packing their bags did not suffice. Well... sometimes you hear things, but it's definitely plausible. 😆
The first time I heard this I thought they did it with computers, but this guy is real, it's live, it's a very powerfull song sung in a very powerfull way.

Yep, our Dutch Windmill Floor learned Henk to use a grunt and he nailed it!!!
Floor did not teach him... this song was a surprise to her so how the f- could she teach him. He was taught by his own singing coach...
Peter Schoemaker So, you didn’t know that during the recordings Henk asked Floor how she could combine the fairytale style singing with the growl and grunt and switching styles so fast? Floor showed him and explained it and yes, Henk required some coaching and it was his coach helping/teaching him. And please leave the F-word behind, it doesn’t bring any extra...
Basically the show is about sharing the love for music. Each episode one of the singers sits in the center of attention while the others sing songs of his/her reportoire to hounour the singer. In this case it was not a song from Floor’s reportoire, but a song that she likes very much and has an important meaning to her. The last episode is the duet episode when every singer chooses a duet partner and a song to sing. The Phantom was Floor’s choice.

It's a Dutch tv show where experienced singers compete to be the best. Some did musicals, others were in bands or did pop music. Floor and Henk were the absolute best with flying colors. I mean, how do you compete with that?!

I strongly recommend you consider Floor Jansen's performance of 'About love I don't know a thing' in this same show for a reaction; it shows her singing in yet another style!

This is a version done by Disturbed and you need to listen to that one if you really want to hear how this version was done. Not to say Henk did not do it well but it's missing the power and emotion of the Disturbed version.
I'm not a Nightwish fan I think they are really good. I don't listen to them but watch them on you tube because they are amazing live!

in its full and just pause it 'cause the Nightwish army don't like the chopped up reactions and I've seen alot reactions on that video and they don't seem to get taken down. And don't pause in the middle of something amazing.

@@marcelschellekens6386 No, normally it is a 6 years study but because Henk already had jobs in different musicals/opera's etc he was offered to graduate a year earlier, so he did in 5 years instead of 6.

There is still a moderate number of views because it is a Dutch show and our country only has about 14 million residents. I guess if this show was broadcasted in the USA the numbers would be much higher. It is good that there is TH-cam and the reaction channels to put this out to the world.
There are already more than 17 million people living in the Netherlands..
It is definitely not a game show my dears, it is a tribute to music and each others music. It is not a competition either, but the one who is sang to expresses which singer touched her/him the most. The singers also get a chance to get out of their comfort zone for one another.
Henk Poort is a genuine nice person, who mingles after his shows with the public, made my mum glow when they hugged and kissed as he lifted her on a stool.
(ps: in the Netherlands we have less than 18 million inhabitants)

It's not a competion. There is no winner. Floor's last name is pronounce Yan-son. Her band is Nightwish. Not Nightwing. You come across as a know-it-all so it's not really surprizing that you know so little.
it's an intimite song off, almost like a karaoke. But make the songs your own. Other songs make your own in your onw interpertation. Th3y sing songs of each other , try to improve. In a friendly way. < Dutch.

Henk is a good singer. But there are hundreds of opera-singers like him. Floors voice is unbelievable good. There are lot of vocal coach videos on yt. Some of them couldn t believe, Floors different vocal styles are even possible. You should hear her performances in this TV Show. And then you should hear live performances of nightwish with Floor. By the way the Phantom of the opera version from nightwish with their First singer is even better than the floor-henk-version you reacted to.
Thats all a matter of personal taste and opinion.
Tarja is really good, no doupt in there. But I have to say that Henk is Also beast on his own!

Musical is always a matter of pesonal taste. But some of the Vocal Coaches on YT said that Floor now after listening to a few nightwish Songs is one of their favourite singer. Carl Franz for example said while reacting to a nightwish song: It must be really different for a Band to find such a singer. And Henk is perhaps the Best Opera singer of the Netherlands, but their are dozens of countries, that have great Opera singers. Bigger countries have more than one singer on the same Level as Henk.
