Excellant video, love your approach to this subject. So many come off as somewhat bossy and turn me off quickly. As one who is a senior and needs to downsize within next couple of years I'm going to use your attitude, just love it. Going to reverse the days and start at 30 days and work backward, somehow it appeals to me. I'm recovering from cancer and there can be "no move" days so start at 30 days on the good days will make feel great. On the slow days will just pick a light day and can cover all 30 days during the challenge. On the travel days for treatment will bring bag of paperwork to sort thru. Everything from my incredibly large collection of loose recipes to store reciepts. That can be done in chair/bed. Thank you for this video. it has given me motivation to get started! Subscribed.

Hello. Thank you. Good luck decluttering. You can declutter anything. Even photos from your phone. Or things that have collected in your hand bag.

Well done, you did a great job! And I really appreciated what you said about what happens after decluttering. You're right, not many people talk about how you actually move the items out of your space. It's not always possible to avoid putting things into land fill all together. But we should try our best to declutter responsibly. On a side note, I was internally singing the 12 days of Christmas for each day you decluttered your items 🤣

I really enjoyed this video, thank you. I love that you've used things up and not just throwing it out. I am so inspired by this video. ❤

I did the Minimalism Game about 3 years ago during a 31 day month; it was amazing how easily I was able to find and dispose of items - magazines, books, pens (not working), clothing, unopened toiletries (donated), odds and ends. Donated, recycled, or given away (other than trash). I will probably do the challenge again during 2024

It’s amazing how much we accumulate. Good luck for 2024 🙂

Not sure if you’ll see this comment but can you please tell me the name of the organisation that donates to the women’s shelters? I’d love to do that as an alternative to the usual op-shops.

Hello. This was the link I used. This organisation can’t accept items, but under each of the tabs they list organisations that can - www.dvconnect.org/donate/donate-items/

Wow I have a hard time letting go of things so I do not think I could do a 30 day declutter but maybe I could start out smaller and eventually work up to it. Great video

Thank you. No need to go over the top if that doesn’t work for you. Maybe a 1 week challenge?

    Hi!
I love wathching what other ppl declutter in the 30 day challange, it gives me ideas and energy.
About prices in second hand stores.. it´s the same here in Sweden, some of them just go higher and higher and are stupid expensive now. I have some favourites that I still donate to, that have a good pricepoint. I also drop some stuff at a local consignment store and sometimes I fill up my car and sell stuff at a local fleemarket or car boot sale. I also sell stuff online. Great that you consider the environmenatal aspects and just not bin everything, many ppl tend to oversee that important part when decluttering. When doing this type of challanges ones decluttering muscles will grow, it gets easier and easier. It´s like an onion, peel it layer by layer ☺
About the rules to the 30day challange 😉 Your challange, your rules. If someone is doing it one way and that doesn´t suit you, tweek it to be better for you. It should be challanging tho not to hard to overcome, some people need more than a month to finish it.
Some people count digital items, some don´t, some count socks as one pair and others as two items. A pile of paper can be one and the number of papers aso. For people struggleing with visual clutterr it might be important to get every item out of the home that day and prevent piles to form and for some that part comes naturally. I choose to se every day as a new "part challange". Even if I decluttered 86 items on day 11 I would count them as 11 items + 75 in bonus. On day 12 it´s a new day for me and I start new. 😊.
I have done the challenge and others like it many times, the last 10-15 ish years, with different approaches. Some times I write all numbers down and do them in scramble order and x-ed the number I come up with every day, sometimes I do it in order and sometimes backwards. I am tinking of starting a new round soon, not waiting for a new month. I can either use the date of the day or do a scramble. That will then be my third round for this year and I think I would let it be in play until new year tho try to end it as soon as possible.
Btw, I am not someone who have looooads of stuff, there is two of us here but I only declutter my own things and if my partner want to, we ca ndeclutter his together. I think I have less stuff tham most people and I have purged in layers and got rid of alot of given things, hobby items, stuff I am done with aso.

Hi. I was wondering if op shops in other countries were doing the same thing as ours. Thanks for letting me know! I agree with all your points 😊

@@onesimplegoal Yes, unfortunately they do... All of those shops are owned by help organizations in Sweden and they don´t need to pay taxes. Most of their employes are payed by the state, they can get trainees for free (the state gives them a small salary) and they have other ways to reduce what and how they need to pay for themselves. They exist to HELP people but.... People higher up in their organiztions have huge paychecks and the store manages are really well payed. Since they started to increase the prices on clothes, furniture and other things alot of people with small income or no income) no longer can afford to get their needed stuff from those stores, it´s often cheaper to buy new kids clother on sale now than to support the circular market and buy used in good condition. So the stores/organizations no longer help those people. And the % av what the organization earns that goes to help people also shrink. The top of them, the boards, bosses aso still get raised salaries and good benefits tho... The whole system within "all" of the big organizations are ROTTEN.
The only one I trust in my town is Amnesty Internationals shop. It´s freestanding, everyone who work there are volontairs and they are soooo trasparent with what they do AND they are really really cheap. They are only open every secondsaturday and most things on the shelves is "new" every time. In the end of an open saturday nearly everything is gone, and it´s the same every time.
We have a tiny free store in our town to, those are goooood. My friend used to manage one to, and I helped here sometimes. Free stores are such a good thing and a blessing for everyone and our planet.

With the shampoo and other products being pushed on you just tell them they’re just not going to fit into your budget at the moment.
