Just binge watched all your videos James, great to see a narrow boat being fitted out from the start. Love your positivity! Can't wait to see the transformation....just subscribed! Keep up the good work!
Crikey, James, just watched all 10 vlogs, you don’t hang about, such a transformation in a short time. Don’t burn yourself out though & try to eat something better that pot noodles👍
Gary Bevan hi Gary, well I took your advice and tonight ventured out to get some slightly better dinner. I don’t really have time to hang about so more transforming to do
Gary is right. If you don’t fuel yourself properly you won’t have the mental energy to think and work at your best! Even if it’s cheese ( not processed) and apple! It’s all very impressive!
Howard Twigg I’m saw your earlier comment and glad you carried watching to see the survey !! Thanks for the encouragement I really do need and appreciate it !!
We are in our 6th lockdown here in Melbourne, this time over 7 weeks so far. So binge watch going on. Batterns/frame work looks great. Keith & Helen Melbourne Auzz
Hi James. Yours is the first video or article I’ve ever come across that makes sense about how to go about fitting out a boat. This video is especially helpful. I have two questions: 1. What is the pole clamp called that you used to fix the batons to the wall before attaching them? 2. What screws did you use to attach the baton to the wall?
Great work James, looking forward to seeing how you progress and the finished boat! Looks a huge amount of work but you're obviously not daunted and enjoy a challenge!
Great progress, can I ask, how are you ensuring everything is 'true', I'm guessing you can't use a spirit level unless the boat is levelled, so what other methods do you use.
Leona Devon you’re right, no spirit level. I’m using square angles where I can off lines I “know” are true but it’s a bit of a guess. Other than that, my eye
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt ad long as it looks good, that’s pretty much all that matters, given that all the cabinetry and furniture will be custom made to match anyway. If you’re not putting big straight things in, it’s a lot less important whether the lines they go against are straight or not. I mean, to an extent, anyway. You’d like to be able to put a book on a bookshelf without trimming it to 88 degree corners. Those welded-shut holes in between the windows are pretty interesting. Suggests the boat has had a previous major refit which enlarged and moved all the openings.
Chris Shore what bit for ? I struggled with the self drilling ones - you got to be on them for ages - I’ll never finish the boat. I’ve turned to self tapping with a pilot
With a pocket screws you should be able screw the vertical studs into the horizontal (opposite way round to what you are doing). Look up Kreg pocket hole Jigs, I think it will help you as you can predrill all the vertical stud

Glad you had her tested and she passed. You are a hard worker and we wish you best of luck. Don’t give up

Peter Hall thanks Peter although I’m really trying not to be daunted by certain elements because that’s when I just stop and worry !!
Brilliant job you’ve done so far James, I’d love to be able to do this one day or even to just buy a narrow boat lol..
Good progress thanks for sharing

Jasper Janssen yes I agree, during her 50 years she’s definitely had the windows moved and had the extension to the bow.
James did you fix those water leaks?
👍👌🇨🇦❤,,
Hi James where did you buy the boat
Have thought about using pocket screws?
