Yes, emotional trauma, but he explains he was trans and pan before he was abused. It’s probably why he was targeted, like many gay/trans boys. Abusers feel like they can more easily groom, abuse and get away with it easier if their victim is genuinely sexually interested.

Straight black men struggle with this, they have been taught to be emotionally detached and insensitive to everything and anything black. If he was interviewing a white woman he would’ve been more gentle and sensitive in his thought processes.
I agree. His tone and questioning showed very little empathy. It was almost as if he was trying to catch him in a loop hole. However, Shae was faith bound and consistent in his answers.
God Bless You Shae. My nephew has a similar story. Sexually abused by my cousins (two brothers) beginning around the age of 5. We didn’t find out until he was 15 or 16. He’s 26 now and in jail as we speak for aggravated crimes and things of that nature. To make it worse he also battles bipolar disorder. He has never been able to shake the sexual trauma. So my heart truly goes out to you. I hope God blesses you and transforms your life. ❣️

I think if he could put together a lecture he could do some real talk on this. There may be a for him. He could have his own blog and make some money. He has personality. As a survivor of sexual abuse, these stories are more common than we realize. Our men need just as much compassion and support as we do. Its much more difficult for them to open up. You are completely accurate that guys frequently demand more compassion and that number is higher when it comes to men of colour who have a greater likelihood to be neglected when it comes to sexual assault, incest, and sex trafficking. Men, of all ethnicities more often than not than often require a higher amount of compassion than most would think. Although we may be unfamiliar to one another, I genuinely convey heartfelt sentiments of affection and healing, recognizing and acknowledging you and many others deserve the nature of love and blessings throughout the entirety of your existence.

This is a true example of someone who is really tapped in, spiritually to their inner self, their capabilities, and overall strength of mind. Because what I got the most out of this interview is that he is so aware of what his trauma did to him how it affected his self perception. He kept talking about dysphoria, which is such a big thing in the trans community but it’s like he was completely aware of how it affects peoples mind. You have to admire such level of intelligence. This is a guy that is not easily pressured into things and his experiences made him this way. He is highly intelligent and I admire his strength and resilience. This happened to me but at the age of 6 by my two older brothers and I’ve fought that homosexual spirit my entire life while trying to recover and heal my inner child from the trauma I endured as well as protect my child from it ever happening to him
God bless you for being so mentally strong however everyone is not blessed with the strength or like myself didn't know or still don't know how to cope with a traumatic past. He's strong for not falling into addiction and that's where my issues lie. Yes God gave us free will but God is so loving and forgiving, he knows not a one of us is perfect and knows that we are all sinners and no sin is greater than the next, he wants his children to humble themselves and show empathy and not judgement bc in the end he is the final judge. If God expected us to be 100% without sin and flawless, we would all fall extremely short of his grace.
I’d laugh for days with him but can tell he’s been through a lot. He is eccentrically awesome! I hope he stays authentic, well & free. The silenced stories are so essential to understanding & combating the general trauma within our communities.

newsflash when I came up nearly all households were single parent as males had several households with several sets of Children by Different Women…were given a pass to run the street and pretty much wherever they laid their hat was for that night their home and We Survived. If we being honest, as kids, sometimes in the black community and in lower income communities where kids are unsupervised, your kids can be fast and influential on kids that may not be as advanced and want to introduce your kids to what they know. Shit like that happens all the time and I experienced it within my family as being influenced and being influential and the shit was wrong as shouldn’t have ever happened and I thank god he covered and protected me from being harmed or harming anyone that experienced that ill behavior even tho we were only kids and didn’t know the harm and consequences that comes with doing what we did especially in the future, potentially shaping your ideals on who your are, So Watch Your Kids Closely! I was molested by my female cousin since the age of 6 all the way until I kicked her ass at 13. I am female too. Thank God I still grew up to be successful, a great mom of successful children a great wife and even though I was in foster homes, groups home and even juvenile facilities for severe anger. I made a choice not to let my past dictate my future. No excuse. And I had a dad who was in prison from the day I was born and my mom had me on her 15th bday very abusive woman. Still look at me today educated and dont smoke or drink have my own office too within a very successful company. I have no criminal record. You have a choice no excuses. So for me, its hard to feel bad for anyone because I had no one but God and I made the choice. He gave us free will.
You should be ashamed of yourself for not having empathy. Life is not like that. Everybody is not the same. You of all people should have feelings for sexually abused victims with no judgement. You had the strength and energy to become you. Feel blessed. But common sense, you should know everybody won't turn out the same. Yeah but you're strong .Their are alot of people that are mentally weak not making excuses for them but its reality. They don't know how to fight those demons off of them. He definitely has the gift of gab! I just hope for his own betterment he will use it for positivity at some point. When he broke down his point of view on gender dysphoria it was refreshing. He nailed it!!! To each their own as far as I'm concerned. He still has a bit of youth on his side to make that transition to betterment in life. It's up to him and only him.

Wow. It feels like someone told this brother what happened to me as a child when I read the title. Expressing his pain while also expressing mine. I was raised in a one parent household however my mom and dad had no beef and I spent every weekend and holiday with him and his family. It felt normal and I’m very close with them. Reading some of these comments make me understand why some people don’t tell their stories. Just because you haven’t gone through, can’t relate to it, you don’t understand it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen to the person telling their story. You cannot tell him what he felt at a young age and if it traumatized him or not! You just have to respect his story and only try to put yourself in the situation without judging him

It may seem off putting but I can tell you after almost years of mental health work, it typically comes down to that to explain promiscuity, drug use, stunted emotional IQ etc.
One thing that struck me about Shae is that her level of empathy is out of this world. She sees the humanity in every person - even those who did her wrong. That level of compassion can't be taught. You either have it or you don't. Amazing individual! I wish her all the best 🥰

God Bless You Shae. My nephew has a similar story. Sexually abused by my cousins (two brothers) beginning around the age of 5. We didn’t find out until he was 15 or 16. He’s 26 now and in jail as we speak for aggravated crimes and things of that nature. To make it worse he also battles bipolar disorder. He has never been able to shake the sexual trauma. So my heart truly goes out to you. I hope God blesses you and transforms your life. ❣️

You are completely accurate that guys frequently demand more compassion and that number is higher when it comes to men of colour who have a greater likelihood to be neglected when it comes to sexual assault, incest, and sex trafficking. Men, of all ethnicities more often than not than often require a higher amount of compassion than most would think.

This is a true example of someone who is really tapped in, spiritually to their inner self, their capabilities, and overall strength of mind. Because what I got the most out of this interview is that he is so aware of what his trauma did to him how it affected his self perception. He kept talking about dysphoria, which is such a big thing in the trans community but it’s like he was completely aware of how it affects peoples mind. You have to admire such level of intelligence. He's strong for not falling into addiction and that's where my issues lie. I was molested by my female cousin since the age of 6 all the way until I kicked her ass at 13. I am female too. Thank God I still grew up to be successful, a great mom of successful children a great wife and even though I was in foster homes, groups home and even juvenile facilities for severe anger. I made a choice not to let my past dictate my future. No excuse. And I had a dad who was in prison from the day I was born and my mom had me on her 15th bday very abusive woman. Still look at me today educated and dont smoke or drink have my own office too within a very successful company. I have no criminal record. You have a choice no excuses. So for me, its hard to feel bad for anyone because I had no one but God and I made the choice. He gave us free will.
We should all show empathy toward one another.God gives us grace when we dont deserve it.
You should be ashamed of yourself for not having empathy. Life is not like that. Everybody is not the same. You of all people should have feelings for sexually abused victims with no judgement. You had the strength and energy to become you. Feel blessed. But common sense, you should know everybody won't turn out the same. Use your experiences to help others but leave your judgement at the door.

I agree with you as a person with a abusive mother I’ve seen firsthand ppl with two parents screw them self up. Like they literally have rich parents and everything spoon fed to them and they still manage to mess up their lives.

Reading some of these comments make me understand why some people don’t tell their stories. Just because you haven’t gone through, can’t relate to it, you don’t understand it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen to the person telling their story. You cannot tell him what he felt at a young age and if it traumatized him or not! You just have to respect his story and only try to put yourself in the situation without judging him
