Driver and passenger swap driving duties at toll bridge plaza.

Interstate 680 at Benicia-Martinez Bridge Toll Plaza
Info: The driver stops before the toll plaza and slides into the passenger seat, while the passenger steps out of the car and gets into the driver's seat. The reason for the switch is unknown, but a number of possible factors include driver fatigue, the driver is not familiar with the tolls, or does not have cash ready to pay the toll. In my opinion, this is one of the most random things I've seen so far at a toll bridge plaza.

Are there no pull-off areas before or after the tolls? Bad place to make a switch, but I understand it if there's no place to pull off.

+Bad Drivers Find Me There is an exit before the the toll bridge plaza, a shoulder to pull off after the toll, and a parking lot at the toll booths. I am not sure why they chose to stop there to switch drivers. I guess the driver and passenger in the blue Subaru thought there is enough time to switch before the line moves again. Even thought it only took seconds to pull off it's just rude to take up the time of other people when not necessary.

Absolutely. It's best to make a driver switch before or after the toll in an area away from traffic, rather than holding everyone up and causing a bigger traffic jam. Thanks for watching :)
