    Talk about 'late to the party' - I made my first jumpsuit this summer -The Deer and Doe Sirocco jumpsuit, and I love it!! I had all the doubts about wearing one - mainly the bathroom issue BUT it is so comfortable, and I feel great in it. ( my age? - 75 )

    wow you have me really inspired with all of your amazing makes. i'm ready to sew a jumpsuit! for fabric picks, i vote for the first geometric dot print. the style of the pattern is very mod to me and i feel like the floral is too romantic and the african wax print won't hold that notched neckline very well. i can see it flopping over even if you use IF or clear elastic.

    • @LostMyThread

      Thanks, Sara! What a nice comment! I think you have nailed it with the style/fabric choice. I think the geometric is my first choice. If I fall in love with the jumpsuit, I might just have to get a little experimental with the next one. 😉

    The floral is so beautiful! It would make a beautiful dress up jumpsuit for going out. All are great but the style of the first one would be my first choice for trying it out and fun everyday or work wear. The third fabric is so pretty! It would be a great swingy dress. You would need to be very careful with the pattern placement in the crotch area if you used it for a jumpsuit. (See Marcy Harriell’s video on making shorts for her hubby - they were fun but the print placement was very ROFL)

    Oh Theresa I love all these fabrics! That floral is gorgeous and will look amazing on you. If I have to choose I think the black and white geometric is the least like any of your previous jumpsuits. Plus it will look so ‘cool’ with some sunglasses.😎Also, I think it will make the pattern features really stand out. 😊Which ever one you choose will look beautiful!

    You sure do rock the jumpsuit! I watch all your videos and still hadn't noticed how many jumpsuit patterns you've made. This was an excellent roundup. I love the geometric black and white jersey fabric for the style of pattern you are going to use. The centre seam and darts on the bodice might cut the floral design up a bit too noticeably. That potential issue won't apply to the smaller scale geometric design.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Nancy! I was surprised, myself, to see how many jumpsuits I've made over the last few years. I really do reach for them in my wardrobe, though, so I'm not stopping now!

    LOVED your inspirations, OMG I didn't notice how many jumpsuits you've already made, LOVE them, and your stripe play always makes me happy! I need to catch up, I'm still sitting at 0/0 in the jumpsuit department lol but know that this challenge will set me up for success. I think the floral or the black geometric fabric would suit this design because of how busy and smaller the prints are the darts and center seem wouldn't be as obvious as it would in that beautiful teal/blue African print knit, although, honestly that would look awesome too! You can't go wrong!

    All your jumpsuits look amazing. Thanks for sharing such great details for each. I have the Valley pattern but didn’t realize it only has three pieces. Now I am rearranging my sew list 😊. The Alice and Co jumpsuit is darling with that neckline. Adding that to my list for sure. All three of the fabrics would look great so I’ll vote for the #1. Thanks so much Theresa for participating in the challenge. Can’t wait to see your make!

    • @LostMyThread

      The Valley is such a bizarre pattern, and the instructions are similarly strange. They send you over to TH-cam for part of them and a blog post for another. The result is great, though! I did size down a lot with it, so check the finished garment requirements.

    Great video, as always! My #1 choice is the geometric - I think it's unlike your other jumpsuits and suits the lines of the pattern very well. The Farris jumpsuit and the Zadie with Lady McElroy fabric look wonderful on you! I haven’t made a jumpsuit yet, but I always wear onesies to bed🤣 so I know I would like one. The Farris appeals to me because of the bust options (I am petite, but often need the FBA). I think I have hesitated because of the amount of fabric needed, and being petite I imagine the crotch being down by my knees! 💕

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you absolutely need to make a jumpsuit!! The Farris would be a good one for you to start with. Jennifer Lauren gives tons of finished garment measurements in her instructions, including length from shoulder to waist and front/back crotch lengths (and inseam, of course). She makes it so easy to make the right adjustments. And no FBA needed. The fabric requirements aren't too different from a dress, especially if you get wide fabric (2-3 meters/yards depending on your size). I think you'll love it-It's a great pattern. Now I'm thinking that I need to make another!

    I vote for the floral fabric!
    I only wear jumpsuits that don't require undoing buttons or ties to take off as it genuinely annoys me so much every time I need to use the loo. Even the Sallie jumpsuit with that one tie bugs me. I've pretty much sworn off wearing even my relatively easy to don and doff jumpsuits because I find it so irritating. I still think they can look great, though, so if you have the patience for them, fair play to you!

    Hold off on the African knit, I’ve tried lightweight jerseys in compromising ways, and ended up not only interfacing it, but starching the heck out of it. Was a nightmare, actually. I like the floral, but you can’t go wrong with either the geometric or the floral. Speaking of nightmares, unfortunately this long torso of mine (typically adding 2” to most pattern bodices) was stuffed into jumpsuits in the 70’s to yes, wedgies. I still remember how uncomfortable they were. If/when I get past my past history with jumpsuits, I could jump on board. But, sew much to sew, sew many things I want to accomplish, sometimes not sure all these challenges fit in. I try to participate when I can. And I know intellectually as a sewist I have 100% control over the torso length of any garment. Do take care.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear you about the lightweight jersey. It's hard to get past that original vision, but sometimes it isn't too realistic!
      I'm sorry to hear about your history! Not good. Not good. 🙈 If you're ever wanting to try one, and you like the style of it, the Farris Jumpsuit by Jennifer Lauren Handmade comes with loads of finished garment measurements. She gives measurements for the shoulder to waist and front/back crotch curves, so it's a great one to try if you want to know it will fit your torso.
      I hear you though, so many challenges and so many things to sew. I say take part if something excites you and pass if it doesn't. This one just happens to be close to my heart.
