May I suggest you take white or cream-coloured linen to the desert island? That way you could dye your fabric with leaves or vegetation and you will be able to get a variety of colours with that one fabric! Also, swap out buttons for covered buttons and then you will be able to coordinate them. You could even paint them! What a fun question!
Well, I just wouldn’t want you to have only one colour to choose from on that desert island! Somehow I think having a unicolour wardrobe would be the last of your concerns if caught in that situation. LOL
I made a mustard/school bus yellow jumper in high school. I did a beautiful, careful job sewing it. When I wore it to school, every single teacher called me up to tell me that it was OK to stay home when I was sick. That is my least favorite color to wear. But I did learn that if I don’t want to do something, just wear that color and no one will expect me to attend!

You made me chuckle talking about the temperatures... I've lived in the US 30 years but my brain still operates in Celsius. Living in South Florida I know 90something F is hot, but whether it's 33 or 34 or ... C... Who knows?
Hahaha! So clearly this is a universal thing that's hard to shift. I feel like the Celsius temperatures are just so close together. I have a harder time knowing when it tips over from going into hot or cold. It must be something that we learn at such a young age that's so inbuilt. Fortunately, with modern technology, we don't really need to know. We can just check our phones with the temperature measurement of choice. 😉
As a Scot of course I would say that you really “must “ visit Scotland. Radiohead is one of my favorite bands. Rush were fantastic. ELO- great band from my youth. Did you ever hear any OMD?
OMD is new to me, but I am excited to find a new band to check out. Thanks for the recommendation! I know, I need to, need to go to Scotland! It's been on my list, forever. If I go to Scotland for the first time for a mini break or maybe a week, what's your top recommendation for someone who likes beautiful walks (ideally no cliffs for my husband's fear of heights) and good food?
It's kind of funny,, but I feel like I know the vloggers who do vlogmas a lot better than the ones who don't as there seems to be a lot more general life content during vlogmas. Your take on the UK weather was really enlightening. I do watch several sewing vloggers from the UK and they are always commenting on the weather, so I had assumed that the weather there was extreme because of that. I guess when your weather is more constant small changes become important. I can't imagine a more rewarding job than being a midwife. How interesting that it was in the UK that you were exposed to the profession. Thank you for sharing with us. This was a fun video.
I definitely think that your opinion on the weather will be heavily influenced on your past experiences. We can have some weather changes from week to week, or even throughout the day, where I live in the UK. It's still nothing like the Chicago weather that I've experienced though, with everyone sweating from the heat one week and snow the next. I just have a different relative comparison. And for sure, when people are complaining about how hot and cold it is here, having grown up with -0F° temps in the winter and 100° temps in the summer, it's hard not to roll my eyes. It's rarely below freezing or above 80° here. 🙄😬
What a wonderful video. So interesting. You are one of my favourite You Tubers. So interesting what you say about moving to the UK. My son met his American partner of nearly 5 years in DC. We are from the UK and now they are having to work out depending on jobs where they will live. The weather is one thing my son doesn’t look forward to returning to. They are also hoping that they can work in both the US & UK. I bet you are an amazing midwife. I’m trained as an RGN and the idea of private healthcare really difficult. We are so lucky to have the NHS. Also love Cornwall and the Lake District.o
I think the world is better set up for international working these days. Even just being able to work from home, really helps. I hope they can find the right balance for them. These decisions are never easy, especially when you're leaving family behind, wherever you are!
My husband has a math brain and knows the formula for Celsius so he converts for me sometimes. I have no clue. I can do some other metric conversions but I have to write them out. 😜
A late question, maybe for another Q&A, have you been to Australia? If not would you like to? If you have, where did you visit and what did you think? PS. I’d love to show you around Tasmania!
I bought a denim jacket with the plan to swap out the fabric on the back central panel for a patchwork design. What is stopping me, is not being able to choose the fabrics. I almost wish I could make panels that are interchangeable, so I don’t have to limit myself to just one palette. I want to be able to swap them out. Any ideas?
That's a fun idea! The only way I could think to do that would be to use snaps... I'm not sure if they might end up getting unsnapped at the wrong time, though. I love to hear if you go for it!
Snaps! I hadn’t thought of that. That actually might work really well and depending on fabric choice, may be somewhat inconspicuous. Now you’ve got me thinking…. I can just see these being marketed on Etsy. Blue Jean jackets or vests that come with interchangeable back panels!
I used midwives for my kids. They delivered in the hospital. Would not do home deliveries due to insurance concerns. Maybe different now since covid, but I know they also have a birthing center they work out of now so maybe they don't do the hospital.
I will say that even in different parts of the UK, there are different options. The hospital that I work in has both a birth center and a more obstetric led unit, across the hall from each other. That means that it's easy for quick transfers or a change of mind for epidurals, but it allows women to have the home from home feel and midwife-led ethos on the birth center. I hope you had a good experience with the midwives! I do think they have become more popular in the states.
@@LostMyThread I did! I had excellent experiences for both pregnancies as far as the midwives went(went through a breakup and move during the second that wasnt so great). I have come to realize since then that apparently my birth experience was vastly different than that of quite a few other people I knew or have known since that went to either of the local hospitals. And the only difference I can figure out there truly was to start with was the care choice. There were differences after the fact some places that may have necessitated bring doctors in (1 was in labor for like 10 days and they just kept sending her home, and one of the babies was found to not have a hip socket on one side after she was born, but both started on the Dr side and felt the care was very cold and uncaring and couldn't imagine using midwives..... a shock to me about the one because she was very hippie or flowerchild type mindset. )
@@GoingGreenMom my family in the US who have chosen midwives also reported a really positive experience. I'm sure there are great OBGYN doctors in the US, but I think we are trained differently and therefore approach pregnancy/birth differently. Sorry to hear about your friends' experiences, but I'm happy that you had positive ones (despite some pretty negative stuff going on, too!).
@@LostMyThread Thanks! And I definitely agree. My mindset was that women have been doing this for Millenia and the body naturally knows what to do. The midwives definitely fit well with that mindset.

I’m moving to Buckeye, Arizona. Does anyone have a favorite store there other than JoAnns?
I’m sorry, I just can’t believe you are 42. The older I get, the younger everyone else seems. I would’ve sworn you were early 30s
I work with a lot of people younger than me, so I definitely do feel as old as I am. 😉
OMG can‘t believe I am a winner! I am such a lucky girl! Thanks so much will contact you via email! 🎉😊
Woohoo! Congratulations!!
