Oh, to be on a flow level low enough for a concentrator like that! My level is 10LPM or above. When I travel, I travel with my normal home concentrators. When I was diagnosed with my interstitial lung disease I decided I was way to young to just sit home and waste away. We do what we have to do to have an active life! Blessings to you as you go forward.
You are a marvel!!! That you have worked so diligently to manage and control what could be a nightmare for many of us, but obviously not for you. I would assume you consider each day just another mountain you must climb to keep one step ahead in your journey to health. I admire and respect you for the endless strength and tenacity you must put forth…each and every day. May God watch over you and bless you with his abundance of grace, to your heart, your soul and beautiful spirit. 🫶🙏
Nice! I didn't order directly through Inogen. Mine did come with a over the shoulder carrier, but since my purse is also over the shoulder, it didn't really work for me.
Thank you so much. Today is day one for my O2Concepts Portable Concentrator and I already realize numerous design shortcomings. (1) It's too heavy. I am 72 yrs old with severe osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, not to mention bursitis in my shoulders ! Carrying anything this heavy on my shoulder is impossible! (2) There are no extra accessories pockets in which I could put my cell, or small wallet or credit cards eliminating having to also carry a purse. (3) There is only one long shoulder strap that is too long to shorten to use as a handle (see #1). I've only had this unit for 2-3 hours. There are things I like about it but the things I mentioned make it very inconvenient. I'm really hoping I find ways to resolve these as it's been three months since I've been able to be independent and not need help lugging around numerous tanks and the other equipment involved. It has seemed easier to just stay home.
Depending on the size of the unit, you could try the backpack I linked above. It's not specific to any unit. At least then you won't have it over one shoulder. I don't know why they have those one shoulder bags in the first place. Like you said, there's no extra pockets so you still need a purse. It's just too much!! I totally agree with you on the tanks! I think I lasted with them a couple months before I asked for an order so I could buy my own portable. Not to mention, my muscles burn/fatigue while dragging the tanks AND I have a flight of stairs to get in to my house so it wasn't helpful when carrying groceries or whatnot as I couldn't carry the tank and the groceries. I hope the backpack can work for you!
I know exactly what you mean ..i just went out today first time and it's so heavy to have on the shoulders and no pockets for the tube ..it all seemed like more stress adding to how I feel ...hard to do any bit of shopping with such a heavy weight ..all I have done is try to work around it and find the best way and it's only my first day ..I do hope it gets better .
Hello jus wanna say thankyou for the informative words. Everything takes a minute to get used to it. But don’t give up - jus take a little time for all this to grow on you. Safe travels!!
Thank you for your suggestions. They were just what I was looking for. Question to you: how do you keep your cannula tied up nice and neat when you were not using it?
I just bought a back pack like your small bag off Amazon because I found the bag way too heavy on y shoulder...i dont understand why there isn't any pockets tuo hold the tube,so I use mine out when needed but have to take another small bag for the tube ..not easy when older and slower.
Hi I have muscular dystrophy with an average 95% o2, my doctor told me I can't travel and I need oxygen; do you feel your POC maintains your O2 levels steady while flying? does the cabin pressure affect you? Also last question, I am traveling a long-haul (US to Europe), do you have any experiences for long flights with a POC? I'm very scared because I have never used a POC, but I am willing to buy one for air travel. Thanks for sharing your experience!
There is a test they can do to see if you need oxygen while flying. It's called a High-Altitude Simulations Test (HAST). I do maintain my oxygen while flying with my POC. I have not taken a long flight, but you will need a lot of batteries for it. In the US they require at least 1.5 times the amount of hours of the flight. So a 5 hour flight would need 7.5 hours of batteries. I hope that helps.
When I buy my tickets, there's an option that I choose that let's them know I'm traveling with my own portable oxygen concentrator. When I get there, they ask how many hours of battery I have. I've never needed a doctor note, but I do have one just in case.
We are flying United and yes they require your printout a form and takg it to your doc who has tofill it out an d write a prescription authorizing you to bring oxygen on board. also they requ you bring extra batteries and have double time for the flight so if you flight is 1.5 hrs you need to have enough battery time for 3 hrs for example. Check your airlines for specifics the TSA requiries this
Yes. I don't think links work in comments anymore, but search for O2TOTES Ultra Lightweight Backpack For Inogen One G3 Unit (Patented Design) (black) Lightweight at under 14 ounces
Would that back work for all portable concentrators. Mine is about 6 inches tall.i looked on amazon a few months ago, but the ones were made for the taller concentrators or specific makes of POC'S.
The dimensions are stated to be 9.5"x4.5"x10.7"(Front Compartment) 9.5"x7"x15"(Whole Bag) There is velcro inside the front compartment to secure the POC in place, so it seems like it should work. If not, you could return it.
Thank you for the dimensions of the backpack. I'm going to order one the end of December. I will adjust the backpack straps to hang on my manual wheelchair
I still do not know why my oxygen drops at times. I know that I have very mild pulmonary hypertension and impaired oxygen extraction. I'm having another test in April to see if I have a cardiac or pulmonary shunt of some kind causing my oxygen to drop.
@@gins8781 Doctors only recently started to believe my oxygen falls after yet another one of their tests showed it dropping. Other doctors are still saying the pulse ox is just wrong. 🤷♀🤦♀

I do have a home machine I use all the time. I only use the portable when out and about. The reason they say pulse isn't suitable for sleeping is that people naturally breath more shallow at night and it may not trigger the machine to deliver oxygen.
