- If Giuseppe Scionti has his way, the steaks on our plates will soon come from a 3D printer. The Italian inventor and engineer has printed the first 100% vegetarian steak at his Spanish startup. And it’s said to not only look and taste like the real thing - it also has the same consistency when chewed.

I'm vegan and I've said this multiple times: taste over texture. If the taste isn't right, even the most "realistic" vegan meat won't convince anyone.
The taste is quite accurate from what I gather.

There are Amazing Mushrooms out there that Taste incredibly like Chicken and other kinds of meat. Id love to try those (even as a non-vegan)
Is no one gonna ask if it actually tastes good? I remember trying an impossible burger, (The burger that’s vegan but mimics the smell taste and texture of a normal burger.) and it tasted like a mixture of rotten tofu and soy beans covered in oil. And no, it wasn’t past the expiration date. My point is if that tasted terrible is there even hope that this will taste any better?
I feel the same way. Like it's not even close. I think vegans and vegetarians forget what real beef burgers taste like because they've gone so long without it. Or maybe some people just have more taste buds than others 😂. Who knows but yea we're def not there quite yet.

And if it was about the taste! But first of all the food is about its nutritional value. They can pump it with synthetic vitamins but they won't fool the body on a long term.
I have many chickens, ducks and a goose. The thought of hurting a single one has never entered my mind.

@@BiasN lol we are not at the top of the food chain at all… In nature, in your natural state with natural weapons like a spear, a predator of any type will have you. Wolves/wild dogs, big cats, snakes and reptiles, sharks, other primates… We are not at the top, those animals could easily kill us

Idk why people seem shocked. We can't even identify all the ingredients in all that we consume already.
Then you should stop putting trash in your mouth. A chef worth their salt could identify most ingredients in someone's recipe from taste alone. But if you are talking about all the 37 syllable worded ingredients found in processed foods, then you have a point. But I live by the rule of, if I can't pronounce it, then I can't eat it.

There are a few companies who are trying to do with, but what I want to see is an Alexa enabled food printer that sits on the counter next to the coffee maker and kettle. This way I can walk up to it and say, "Alexa, Earl Grey hot.

guys, u should visit Taiwan and check out their vegetarian options! There's no need for 3d printers at all! Prices are affordable and available for decades.. Vegetarian spam, ham, burgers, etc..

@@DWFood Most of vegetarian meat products are either made of soy protein or gluten-based and flavors are added to mimic the taste of meat. I have to say some of them don't taste but have the texture of real ham. At the moment, it looks like the printer is still very much in the scientific/research world 🌎 but perhaps we'll all be printing our own ham soon!
The world is dying from global warming, pollution is increasing and population is increasing, these people are like at least they’ll die vegan. At the end of the day we are ignoring all the bigger problems and finding solace by doing stupid things.
ty, not to mention a lot of vegans are that way to "save animals" and "stop ranching" but it won't. we will just raise the animals to be fertilizer. blood meal and bone meal are two well known fertilizers now. And lets say we don't do that. we still will just slaughter all of them, you can't release domestic animals into the wild, they won't survive. and those species will be extinct, damaging wild species that rely on the domestic animals. not to mention we would still raise them for pet foods. it's just silly imo.

Trouble is most people are missing the point and pick taste over their own children's future. It is the younger generation that will suffer the consequences of global warming and the one place the general public/parents can really make a difference is to eat a plant based diet and start to protect the future for their children. The question isn't does it taste like steak but is steak more important to you than your children. Personally my taste buds are second to my family, I want my legacy to be their happiness so I choose a plant based diet to do my bit to help protect them.

I am sorry to tell you but animals have a place in food production. they contribute greatly to a mixed cropping/arable farm that produces seeds, vegetables and wheat/barley. You cannot stop climate change, only mitigate the effects of it.

Enjoy vegan protein for what it is instead of trying to recreate meat with it. I couldn’t stand tofu until I stopped trying to make it ground beef. Once I saw it as a crumbled protein packed bean block, cooked and flavored it as such, it started to get enjoyable.
