C'mon Brad. If you keep making these fire tutorials, there's gonna be nothing left for the rest of us. Haha great work my dude! I might have to check those headphones out 👀
This is the best way to get smooth results. For fun I tried a different method shooting continuous video with my BlackMagic in RAW making thousands of individual digital negatives. Move the object, pull my hand out of view, then move the object again, and so forth. I pulled the entire raw directory into a new event as proxies, then using a 64” 4k monitor for my browser I selected the first clip and hit shortcut “E” , then sped the process up selecting multiple clips holding down the command key then “E”. Shooting the movie was much faster though shot selection did get tedious and required lots of resources but my M1 didn’t break a sweat. Your way is the right way to teach people, I just like to inject some crazy into my explanations!
Thanks for sharing! 😊👍🏼 Yeah that is definitely another way to do it. I’ve used that method before too and I feel like it makes the shooting process a little easier but it makes the editing process so much longer 😂 Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
I have a long way to go lol I made a fun stop motion video with my children using my iPhone. It’s very shaky. I’m still going to put it out because they’re proud of it but I’m glad I watched this video! Thank you
Cheers Brad, great info so just subscribed. Started making a few little stop start movies movies and really enjoying it. Currently coming to the end of my FCP free 90 days. Was looking at Adobe but your film has persuaded me to stay with Apple. Keep up the good work 😇
Awesome to hear that, thank you! I might be biased but I gave Premiere a good try years ago and I just didn't enjoy editing with it. I think you will be happy with your choice to stick with FCP 😄
@@Brad_West really like your channel and trying to master the basics but this one caught my eye and found it fascinating and empowering since Im hoping to do pro editing and would hope to have a large and varied tool belt.
Going to make some more elaborate stop motion kids videos. This is a great basic starting point, as I am just upgrading to Final Cut Pro X. I am looking at plugins for FCP X and open to suggestions!
@@Brad_West Ok, just bought a small lot of "test" plugins from Pixel Studios. ProPuppet, Pro Gun 2, Pro Book Pop Up, The Sorcerers Academy, FCPX Territory, Hand Drawn Elements Mega Pack, FCPX Cartoon Mega Pack, FCPX HUD Mega Pack, FCCPX Disintegrate, FCPX Brush glow, and FCPX Title Mega Pack. I will have to run through and see if you have tutorials. If not who else might. I figure get me a good basic plug in set to do some stop motion. Any other recommendations?
That’s a lot of plugins! Nice 😊👍🏼 In terms of a plugin for stop motion, there isn’t anything that I’m aware of that will help you to make elaborate stop motion videos. It’s all in the shooting of the stop motion stills. There is, however, a frame rate changer plugin from FCPeffects.com (currently running a giveaway on the channel for their plugins) and the frame rate changer plugin lets you drop a certain number of frames on footage giving the clips a stop motion feel but it’s not true stop motion. 😊
Hi, Brad & Donna - I’m about to start releasing more content on my work (narrative design and video editing) and you guys are incredibly innovative and fresh. Do you get yours sound effects from Artlist too? I swear I’ve heard that little sound when the subscribe CTA happens towards the end. :D anyway - amazing work and love it! :D
Thanks Danyal! Appreciate that so much 😊🙌🏼 I actually have a custom SFX library that I’ve built up over the years. If I’m not mistaken, one of the effects for the subscribe CTA are from MacOS 😂 Thanks for watching! 😊🙏🏼
@@Brad_West haha - I was wondering where I heard that sound effect haha :) I’ll keep following the channel and hope that my own content can stand by itself and improve too :)
Yes the M1 will be compatible with titles that are created in Motion, like most of the title bundles you can buy online. It’s more for coded plugins that you have to worry about compatibility. Is there a specific title you’re currently considering? 😊
@@Brad_WestThanks for answer. 1 Toko graphics pack final cut-pro x apple motion 26669402 2 LenoFX - Text Presets 3.0 for Final Cut Pro 3 Funny cartoon titles final cut pro 24280143
Yeah all of these should be compatible with the M1 chip and will run smoothly. Btw, if you use the coupon code BRAD5 with LenoFX you’ll get 5% discount. Enjoy your new titles 😊👍🏼

Dude pls tell me what model tripods manfrotto
You can check out the tripod and tripod head I use on my gear page: bradwestmedia.com/my-gear 😄👊🏼
@@Brad_West thanks, that's what I thought head and leds separate.
Yeah, it’s a great combo!
is there a shortcut to change the order of the photos on the timeline? my photos are ordered from 10-1 i want them 1-10 ??
You could rearrange the files by name in the browser window and drag them back onto the timeline.
Have you tried adding a zoom in? I can't seem to find a good way to do this because the zoom goes across all 24 frames.
What do you mean adding a zoom in? Do you want to gradually zoom in a little bit at a time for each frame?
I usually turn all the frames into a composite clip and then add a kens burn to that composite clip. So its a gradual zoom in
Yeah the Ken Burns method or making a compound clip and keyframing the scale will achieve that zoom in 😄👍🏼

Anyone else triggered by the 2% battery at 2:39 ? 😉
I had anxiety while filming it don't worry 🤣
why is my animation lagging so much😭
there is nothing wrong with my pc
If the resolution of your image files is really high it might slow things down. Try rendering before playback to see if that helps?
Pretty cool - until you get into the notes stop motion stuff .... You definitely lost me there LOL
Is there anything I can clarify to help you out? What are you struggling with? 😊
