  • The pool we used amzn.to/34naWgO We just completed a DIY Do It Yourself above-ground inground pool retreat. It is our little piece of Heaven. We dug a pit and dropped the pool over 4ft. The pool is an Intex Ultra XTR Frame 16ft x 32ft x 52-inch saltwater above-ground pool. Check out our video as we discuss the process of turning it into an inground pool. It is the least expensive way to get a quality inground pool on a budget. Part 2 of this series is a detailed time-lapse. • Above Ground Pool Inst...

    I am impressed! This is an ingenious setup and yet quite economical too! You have access to the utilities, but yet they are hidden and soundproofed if you wish. They won't overheat and won't get ruined by the sun. Then the Intex pool is a great product. We had the 18' round in the past and they can last a long time. As you said, when the liner is too old, you simply put a new pool in. You want lights? Easy! You want to fix the pergola? Easy! This setup comes really handy and makes sense! Double thumbs up Tanja and Tony!

    WOW!!!!!! Well Tony & Tanya, this is your biggest and best project yet!! Some comments, It was nice to see your black cat in the beginning of the video lounging on the deck too. Then of course what a fabulous picture of you two many years ago. You two can be so proud to have each other for so long - CONGRATULATIONS!!
    Now on to your project, this was truly an amazing undertaking. All the equipment you have accumulated over the last couple of years certainly paid off HUGE here. Amazing to see you guys dig this huge hole and it seems at the end you lost all that dirt around the pool in landscaping too. Brilliant. The thought that went into the "service tunnel to have all your utilities in a place you can work on them is a great idea. Also I was a little confused where you were building this at first as I thought it may go at your new property but then in the last 1/3 of the video you filmed toward your home and I recognised that. So this is a trememdous addition to your already beautiful place. Your deck and surrounding area there have so much future potential and between you and Tanya I expect to see this home in the "Better Homes and Garden" magazine soon.
    Anyway my friends, MAJOR CONTRATULATIONS again to you and Tanya on your most amazing project yet. What a beautiful job and the two of you can be so very proud of your accomplishments.
    Best regards,
    Lisa

    I like being able to watch a husband and wife working together like you guys did. From what I saw Tanya definitely did her share of the work. The pool looks fantastic !!!! Make sure you take some time now to relax and enjoy the results of all that hard work. But not so much that you stop making videos for us . HaHa. Looking forward to part 2 . Have a great weekend.

    Very nice! I just finished my on ground pool half in half out deck all around and a pool house! Did all the work myself used my Kioti CK2510 for all the work! 7000 screws, 80 carriage bolts, 125 bags of concrete mix and I lost track of individual boards but I will say in on my 6th trip to the massage therapist! So I know how much work you did GREAT JOB!

    This idea looks FANTASTIC!! We have a sloped backyard with a long deck and it is asking for a pool this long but so am I!! Any updates on the loo now it has been 3yrs? Yard around it? What do you use as a pool cover for summer and winter. Husband and I are from Ohio so similar weather. Did you get little bugs bitting you while around the pool or in the pool? We had a pool a few yrs ago and did!! It was miserable to say the least. How do you get rid of them? What plants to not make them come around? Thank you 😊🤗

    I’m going to do something like this... when I bought my tractor, I got the version with the backhoe. I do need to get a set of forks for it, though... Having a pool would not only be nice for swimming, but good for fire protection - if a wildfire comes through here (I’m in California, out where it’s just wet enough for trees and brush to grow, but dry enough that it then promptly turns into fuel) I can use it as a source of water for keeping the house wet. I’d need to rig up a non-electrical pump (perhaps propane-powered - that way I don’t have to worry about fuel stability); and I think I’d probably want to rig up some sort of smart control system so that it would come on automatically when a fire was approaching (that way it would work even if I had to evacuate). Perhaps a combination of thermal switches down the hill, and infrared detectors.

Man, working that project in the hottest time of the day just drains you of energy but you guys did it. Now, are you guys ready to do this as a business? Don't answer that, I'm sure it's the furthest thing from your minds (LoL). Yes, I would be willing to do a job like this but that's not possible here b/c of our water level. Enjoyed a full watch and I'm still trying to recover from all YOUR hard work (smile). Excellent job, great video, and very good advice. Have a fine weekend, guys. Tony is great yo see what you do.. we love it and we are motivated to do it ourselves as well. I have a few questions though: My pool will be 18x32 and we want to do the same thing you did in your place but my question is how did you get the measurements? How many more inches or feet from the actual pool size to accommodate the retaining wall? How deep did you go down when you were putting the main wooden columns? I noticed you put them with concrete into the hole,,, what dis you do to make sure the wood will stay firm and leveled with the concrete inside the hole? Thanks for the info and the encouragement.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rubita, Thank you for the kind words. I dug the hole much bigger than it needed to be. I built the outside wall and leveled the ground inside. We built the pool in the hole and then built the deck around the pool. There are at least three videos about my pool build on my channel. I hope you enjoy building the pool as much as we did.

  • @BradMyers

    I heard you say that you are about 30 miles from Murray Kentucky, which is getting closer to my neck of the woods. I just assumed you were further south. We are in Southern Illinois, about 30 minutes outside of St. Louis, MO.
    My wife and I talked about it and no, we would not try it. Just because we both work and it would take up to many of our weekends. Tying up that many weekends, we would fall to far behind on other items. Just keeping up at the farm is a challenge trying to get that all straightened out. Maybe someday when we are retired, we might consider it.

    good idea - same idea i have - but not a wise design... water will get into the side of the hole that you dug, the legs will rot very fast. you should have used wood through the top of the liners instead on the steel. if you had built a tighter retaining wall, you wouldn't need the legs just the wood through the top and screw it to the deck frame. that way the pool would last much longer
