- The pool we used amzn.to/34naWgO We just completed a DIY Do It Yourself above-ground inground pool retreat. It is our little piece of Heaven. We dug a pit and dropped the pool over 4ft. The pool is an Intex Ultra XTR Frame 16ft x 32ft x 52-inch saltwater above-ground pool. Check out our video as we discuss the process of turning it into an inground pool. It is the least expensive way to get a quality inground pool on a budget. Part 2 of this series is a detailed time-lapse. • Above Ground Pool Inst...

I am impressed! This is an ingenious setup and yet quite economical too! You have access to the utilities, but yet they are hidden and soundproofed if you wish. They won't overheat and won't get ruined by the sun. Then the Intex pool is a great product. We had the 18' round in the past and they can last a long time. As you said, when the liner is too old, you simply put a new pool in. You want lights? Easy! You want to fix the pergola? Easy! This setup comes really handy and makes sense! Double thumbs up Tanja and Tony!
WOW!!!!!! Well Tony & Tanya, this is your biggest and best project yet!! Some comments, It was nice to see your black cat in the beginning of the video lounging on the deck too. Then of course what a fabulous picture of you two many years ago. You two can be so proud to have each other for so long - CONGRATULATIONS!!
Now on to your project, this was truly an amazing undertaking. All the equipment you have accumulated over the last couple of years certainly paid off HUGE here. Amazing to see you guys dig this huge hole and it seems at the end you lost all that dirt around the pool in landscaping too. Brilliant. The thought that went into the "service tunnel to have all your utilities in a place you can work on them is a great idea. Also I was a little confused where you were building this at first as I thought it may go at your new property but then in the last 1/3 of the video you filmed toward your home and I recognised that. So this is a trememdous addition to your already beautiful place. Your deck and surrounding area there have so much future potential and between you and Tanya I expect to see this home in the "Better Homes and Garden" magazine soon.
Anyway my friends, MAJOR CONTRATULATIONS again to you and Tanya on your most amazing project yet. What a beautiful job and the two of you can be so very proud of your accomplishments.
Best regards,
Lisa
I like being able to watch a husband and wife working together like you guys did. From what I saw Tanya definitely did her share of the work. The pool looks fantastic !!!! Make sure you take some time now to relax and enjoy the results of all that hard work. But not so much that you stop making videos for us . HaHa. Looking forward to part 2 . Have a great weekend.
Thanks for sharing this! I had a “deck pool” before at my old house but want one again at the my new house. I want it just like yours for the most part 🤔. Can’t wait to see your other projects… you’re inspiring me ❤️
Thank you. We are building an entire homestead. 🤪
Very nice! I just finished my on ground pool half in half out deck all around and a pool house! Did all the work myself used my Kioti CK2510 for all the work! 7000 screws, 80 carriage bolts, 125 bags of concrete mix and I lost track of individual boards but I will say in on my 6th trip to the massage therapist! So I know how much work you did GREAT JOB!
Good old fashion work does the soul good. Not so much on the back.
This is an awesome build! Thank you, I’m building mine this year (God willing). Thank you guys, enjoy the pool.
We have used it for 3 years. I will set it back up in 4 more months. Snow and Ice today!
@@TonysTractorAdventure ha, I’ll have the same issue once I put mine up, bc it’s freezing in northern NJ.
This was a good IDEA in an IDEAL place!
This idea looks FANTASTIC!! We have a sloped backyard with a long deck and it is asking for a pool this long but so am I!! Any updates on the loo now it has been 3yrs? Yard around it? What do you use as a pool cover for summer and winter. Husband and I are from Ohio so similar weather. Did you get little bugs bitting you while around the pool or in the pool? We had a pool a few yrs ago and did!! It was miserable to say the least. How do you get rid of them? What plants to not make them come around? Thank you 😊🤗
Tony, this is an awesome video. You have a ton of work! Glad to see it turn out so good. I'm glad we had a small part in it. Loved the video👍
Great work ya’ll. I put a 12x24 intex ultra $1000 in a year ago in Michigan . With a above ground deck going around 2 sides . $1,500 . With top railings . And removable large umbrellas And light posts . In our 2nd year . . We’ve had no issues . Wife has loved it dogs to . Couldn’t figure out how to add pictures.
That is awesome! Pictures are not possible on TH-cam post. We are loving our pool too. God Bless. Tony
Tony's Tractor Adventure thanks tony. Yeah my deck is huge I used 8foot long deck boards . I also mounted out door speakers . I’ve had 8-10 people in pool and on deck . Yours is amazing.
Awesome build Tony and Tonja. I'm just now getting caught up on some past notifications. My wife and I have been really busy building our own cabin.
My problem is our camp is about a two hour drive from our home. We are making headway though.
Love your new pool. You all did a great job. It's really nice. A lot of hard work but you both will get a lot of enjoyment. I've been following this build of yours and your right, Hank from Hamiltonville Farm is a pretty nice guy. I enjoy his channel too. Thanks for taking us along on the journey.
I’m going to do something like this... when I bought my tractor, I got the version with the backhoe. I do need to get a set of forks for it, though... Having a pool would not only be nice for swimming, but good for fire protection - if a wildfire comes through here (I’m in California, out where it’s just wet enough for trees and brush to grow, but dry enough that it then promptly turns into fuel) I can use it as a source of water for keeping the house wet. I’d need to rig up a non-electrical pump (perhaps propane-powered - that way I don’t have to worry about fuel stability); and I think I’d probably want to rig up some sort of smart control system so that it would come on automatically when a fire was approaching (that way it would work even if I had to evacuate). Perhaps a combination of thermal switches down the hill, and infrared detectors.
Tony, you and Tanja did a great job for your first pool! It looks great! I like the dock post Tanja did. Have a great weekend and hope to see y'all soon!!
We are planning on doing what you folks did.
I was excited to find your videos. Enjoy watching. Gave me a lot of great ideas.
I am glad you enjoyed it.
You two make an awesome team. Pool turned out great. My husband and I would like to try this. The price of lumbar now is ridiculous so we’re like😳🤷🏽♀️🥲
I appreciate your comment. We opened the pool up for the third year of fun just a few days ago.
Thanks so much for all you share. My wife and I are fixing to do a pool very similar to this. And this is the best video I’ve seen. 2 years later, any regrets? Would you do anything different? Any water issues around the pool inside the wood walls? Thank you so much!
We are opening it up for the fourth year in a few months. Everything still works fine. We are happy with it
@Tony's Tractor Adventure Homestead would you consider taking your talents on the road and travel to assist with installing an above ground pool
Real nice! Also cool it was a husband & wife project.
Tony and Tanja, really super job. That kind of work would look great in anybody's yard. Just another of example of hard work paying off. I'm almost speechless, can't find the right words to say how happy I am for you two. Also, really nice to hear from Tanja. Have a wonderful day TnT.🙂👍
I can tell, those little "dock" posts she made really add a nice touch.
I have wanted to do this for a couple yrs now. We live In Indiana and already have had this pool for 8 yrs but have wanted to put it in the ground. Gonna buy a new pool just like we have ( same one u did). Gonna watch your other videos and hopefully they explain in more detail about post placement and the technical things that I need to know before starting this next spring. Thank you both again for the info. Also Tennessee isn’t far from Indiana if u want to come help me.😂
We opened the pool up for the 3rd year a couple months ago. Still love it. We did three videos on this. Some have more info.
Hi, my brother and I are going to do this. Your videos are so much more inspiring and truly helpful. Anyway we can reach you if we run into an issue during the project. We are SO EXCITED about doing this. Thanks
Thank you. We are enjoying the pool.
Liked the video, been looking at a lot of diy pool ideas. Think I am going to try this out next year.
Thank you. We are enjoying ourselves
We are going to do a similar project! Much smaller scale like 8 x 14 . did you look into a resin pool? This is so helpful and encouraging!
I did not look into a resin pool. This was a return on investment project. We are prepping the pool for the fourth year.
Great video. Very inspirational
Run with it. We are looking forward to using it.
I will be doing something similar. I am putting in a sunken garden and patio
Nice. We have used our pool for three years. The fourth season is just around the corner.
A lot of hot and heavy work, Tony and Tanja but it surely paid off. I can feel my back now (ha). I'm sure you guys slept quite well in the evenings after a good day's work. Man, working that project in the hottest time of the day just drains you of energy but you guys did it. Now, are you guys ready to do this as a business? Don't answer that, I'm sure it's the furthest thing from your minds (LoL). Yes, I would be willing to do a job like this but that's not possible here b/c of our water level. Enjoyed a full watch and I'm still trying to recover from all YOUR hard work (smile). Excellent job, great video, and very good advice. Have a fine weekend, guys. Oh, I definitely loved the dog's howl to tell us good bye 🐕.
Nice story Sir about your wife in Germany !!! Nice project !!! Cheers !!!
nice pool looks great. enjoyed the video.
Nice pool Tony! Looking to see more of how this was done. Have me thinking about doing something like this. I actually built the ground up at the front of my house to do a slab pour for a porch. Maybe something with a pool like this in the back yard might work for me. Maybe I can justify to the wife a backhoe.................Keep up the great videos really enjoy them.
No entiendo nada 😂pero me encanta lo que hicisteis ❤
Thank you
Great video!
Nice work! Another great video!
I like the pool Chief. My wife has been wanting one and she walked in right after i started this video. Good timing.😀 Are you going to put one on the new property?
Really nice job
Sorry - did I miss the price somewhere? We're in France. SO inspiring! thanks for sharing!
You didn't miss the price. The price would have changed drastically by now. That was four years ago.
@@TonysTractorAdventure So how much would it possibly be? We do have intex over here, thank goodness!
I don't know the prices of wood in France. My wife's family is from Germany, and their wood prices are much higher. I think we could do it here for $6k in the USA.
@@TonysTractorAdventure That's really helpful, thanks!
Tony is great yo see what you do.. we love it and we are motivated to do it ourselves as well. I have a few questions though: My pool will be 18x32 and we want to do the same thing you did in your place but my question is how did you get the measurements? How many more inches or feet from the actual pool size to accommodate the retaining wall? How deep did you go down when you were putting the main wooden columns? I noticed you put them with concrete into the hole,,, what dis you do to make sure the wood will stay firm and leveled with the concrete inside the hole? Thanks for the info and the encouragement.
Rubita, Thank you for the kind words. I dug the hole much bigger than it needed to be. I built the outside wall and leveled the ground inside. We built the pool in the hole and then built the deck around the pool. There are at least three videos about my pool build on my channel. I hope you enjoy building the pool as much as we did.
I heard you say that you are about 30 miles from Murray Kentucky, which is getting closer to my neck of the woods. I just assumed you were further south. We are in Southern Illinois, about 30 minutes outside of St. Louis, MO.
My wife and I talked about it and no, we would not try it. Just because we both work and it would take up to many of our weekends. Tying up that many weekends, we would fall to far behind on other items. Just keeping up at the farm is a challenge trying to get that all straightened out. Maybe someday when we are retired, we might consider it.
Did you happen to have any plans you would be willing to share? Just a jumping off point. Great job btw. The digging and leveling of the hole is the intimidating portion to me. I've never used a tractor and can't decide if I want to sub that portion out. Thanks so much
I don't have any plans. I built it in my head first. The video makes look fast, but we used a laser level to get the bottom right. We took our time. I did about 3 or 4 videos on how we did it.
Now that you’ve had it awhile, how did it hold up? I worry about how many critters will make a habitat out of that space. Any trouble with snakes?
It has been zero issues. My cats love it, so therefore I have no issue with pest.
good idea - same idea i have - but not a wise design... water will get into the side of the hole that you dug, the legs will rot very fast. you should have used wood through the top of the liners instead on the steel. if you had built a tighter retaining wall, you wouldn't need the legs just the wood through the top and screw it to the deck frame. that way the pool would last much longer
I appreciate your expertise in this matter. It sounds as if you have built many of these. We are going into our third year with the pool without any problems at all. Thank you again for your honesty.
We didn't start or set the pool up yet.. we're starting in 2 weeks.. Hoping for completion by August 23.. is that possible?
Depends on your end
Could this be done using the smaller tractor only?
Absolutely, but it would only take longer.
Hat's off to you guy's. Great job not to mention during the summer in West Tenn WOW. My wife would've had to wait till next spring lol. Would I do this project no probably not but I am planning on a couple acre fishing pond with peer soon.
@@TonysTractorAdventure I'm looking forward to that can use some advice
Ha ya'll did a great job
Thank you. Looking forward to opening it up this year.
I'd try it. YOLO.
Tony! Awesome work! I think you own HANK a free swim as he had a part in it lol! but awesome work! Maybe I missed you say it but are you gonna stain the decking? Overall looks great! Enjoy!
I want to do this
We are enjoying our pool.
Although I am happy for you, you did not really show how to do this so this is not a diy video.
I appreciate your opinion.
