don't compare on the basis of discount u got. its unfair.
I have been using galaxy s7+ for 2 years and ipad 8th gen for 3 years now. i brought S7+ because of it bigger and better screen in its price segment but it is not at par with ipad 8th gen in terms of full time note taking. maybe its the ecosystem, maybe its the no. of app support maybe the hardware-software integration but it just that galaxy tab is not full time book-notebook replacement for students just yet. even in this price considering a normal buyer who is not getting any major discount ipad is better option given that you mostly get student discount throughout the year. again i am just sharing a student's (my own) perspective.

S9, s9 plus and ultra are best flagship tablets. S9fe is cut down tablet. Here it is good enough but not as powerful as s9. There are other differences also, i will be covering that in next video this week
