At Close Range 1986 is a raw look at growing up in a small town . Not your typical 80s coming of age story, but still full of small details that make it a pure 80s gem
One of the best films I've ever seen and it's Sean Penn's best film for me. Every scene is a masterpiece, it's like a piece of art. The music is unreal and so sublime. The cast is amazing and Mary Stuart Masterson was a childhood crush of mine and I would have been 11 in 1986 which was the year I first started getting interested in girls. Funnily enough, my girlfriend would end up looking very similar to Miss Materson with that tomboy look and short wavey hair. This is some of the best acting one will ever see, Sean Penn is mesmorizing as he captivates his audience with every scene. He's truly one of the great actors of this century and Mary Stuart is equally hypnotizing a stunning looking woman with one of the cutes smiles I think I've ever seen. I was headover heals in love with her at just 11 years of age, one of my childhood crushes. I remember first seeing her in the brilliant teen flick "Catholic Boy's" and she was awesome in it. I must follow more of her later films but she and Sean were both teen sensations back in the 80s and I spend many a night dreaming of marrying her and living happily ever after like one of those childhood childrens story books.
God I miss the 80's. What I wouldn't do to get to relive those years all over again. Miss my family,friends,being young and all the good times we had. I had the time of my life but to go back I'd appreciate it all a lot more for sure. Losing people is hard but when I wake up today and look at the world around me with all these liberals and anti Americans I feel like I'm in the twilight zone
