The Ford sedan collided with James Dean's Porsche in a complete broadside. 22 year old Donald Turnupseed was completely to blame for the accident. More BS about James Dean.
Wasn’t a complete broadside at all. Dean’s Porsche hit the left front corner of the Ford. Dean’s small, light Porsche went airborne and was a crumpled wreck. The American cars of that time were full size, heavy & thick ‘Detroit Iron’, with lots of headroom. Consequently the only damage to the Ford stayed well in front of the driver’s seat and Turnupseed wasn’t really injured. He just got bounced around and shook up a little. He hitchhiked home to the Central Valley not needing any medical attention. The damage to the Ford showed it had to be barely out into an intended 30 degree leftward turn into NE bound Route 41 when the Porsche hit it. Very likely if Dean wasn’t going so fast, he would have been able to avoid the Ford by slowing down or going into the far right of the road and around it. The triangular intersection has been relocated, reconfigured, and widened since 1955, making conclusions based on observations or measurements of the current intersection opinion rather than fact.
Hi, there, the only ones who know if he was or wasn't are the ones who were peaking through his windows when he was with somebody else. He only registered as a homosexual in order to get out of going to the Korean Conflict.
He was not a rebel just to be a rebel for the sake of rebelling. He just did not want to participate in things he did not believe in. Hence the rebel. No one has ever come close to what he had because you cannot imitate someone and be authentic, especially with the depth Dean had. What we saw from Dean was I fear just scratching the surface of his talent. Even if he had lived, we may not have seen much more from him because he hated Hollywood. New York theater was another story.
His childhood details seem to be confused. The last story said nothing about him being left with his aunt and uncle. They also said his father had a bull frog farm that didn't work out.
Behave yourself...it's on record that crash was the other drivers fault...enough of the dark side, he was a charismatic, gifted and magical actor with a few challenges like most of us. R.I.P Genius
It is not "on record that crash was the other drivers fault." In fact, it is well known that at the time Dean was found to be at fault because he was allegedly going around 90 MPH. There were witnesses, and this was the verdict at the time. This has been disputed in subsequent years, but there is no contemporary record stating that Dean was not at fault. The excessive speeding was a regular thing with him, not just some speed trap he got caught in one time earlier that day.

I just googled James Dean a few minutes ago, and I read several exposes about Dean having flings, not only with Marlon Brando, but with Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Steve McQueen, Rock Hudson, Lee Strasberg, and Martin Landau! :O
Before James Dean, acting was different than it was before. James Dean was a method actor. The actor began to use elements from his own life and experiences in a way that actors had never done before. He tapped into real things in out of his personal life that would enhance and illuminate his acting. It was immediate and direct. Dean came to the Method by instinct, using his own quirks and understanding of the acting craft. Dean opened himself up to the audience. There was no such thing as an emotion too painful or too revealing to be portrayed on screen. Dean was able to play his parts as convincing as he did because, unlike the generation before his, he was willing to reveal himself and display true emotions for the camera, even if they were painful for him to portray and painful for the audience to watch. Specifically, James Dean formulated his own theories, and all of those theories dove-tailed into the idea that acting had to be spontaneous emotional and in the moment. For James Dean believed that the moment was the most important element in the process of acting, that an actor should work only moment to moment, and that an effective perfomance was a series of brilliant moments strung together like pearls in a necklace. "An actor must interpret life," James Dean once said, "and in order to do so he must be willing to accept all the experiences life has to offer. In fact, he must seek out more of life than life puts out at his feet. In the short span of his lifetime, an actor must learn all there is to know, experience all there is to experience, or approach that state as closely as possible. He must be superhuman in his efforts to store away in the core of his subconscious everything that he might be called upon to use in the expression of his art."
Hi, there, maybe that's true. sometimes, a person's employment tells you a little bit about him/her. He was a race car driver. He didn't need to go into that career for the money. He had to have loved speed.
Great talent that was gone too soon. I read that he had agreed to star as Rocky Graziano in the 1956 film Somebody Up There Likes Me right before his death. A role that Paul Newman ended up playing. I'm not sure how true this was or if he had even signed on for the movie before his death, but I heard this in another documentary video about James Dean. Kinda wonder if it was true.
One of Dean's girlfriends before his death, remember Jerry Seinfeld's Mother in the 2nd greatest Sitcom of All Time (Seinfeld 1990-1998), his mother on the show, in real life she dated James Dean briefly in early 1950's ..... Confirmed fact
He was also banned from auto racing by the producers while filming his last movie bc they were afraid he'd have a car wreck & either injure or kill himself
James Dean was such a gifted actor and has had an undiandiable impact on acting today. Also, I had originally cane here cuz of the Sleeping With Sirens song "If I'm James Dean Your Audrey Hepburn." Because I wanted to know who they were. For context it's a love song. THE TITLE IS SO MISLEADING. But I mean, atleast I learned a few things out of it.
Hell, yes! It was rumored that he hustled a bit early on, and was not above granting sexual favors to jumpstart his career. Not saying it is true, but I have read that more than once. He had a very close relationship with Wally Cox and he kept Cox' ashes so that their ashes could be mingled and scattered together in the end. This last bit is definitely true..

Fortuneteller - You`ll become an icon in Hollywood after you star 3 movies. James Dean - 3 movies is more than enough, after all, nobody lives forever.
I'm a fan of Dean's for his mystique more than anything else. It's only "Rebel" that I've ever enjoyed him in. I've seen him in all his movies and most of his early TV appearances and he took method acting to a ridiculous level. All the old senior actors thought he was crazy and they weren't far from the truth. He was definitely at the right place at the right time. His rebellious-teen manner coincided perfectly with the rock and roll culture. His death cemented his legendary status. It would've been the same for Brando, but being Brando lived on, people had time to see how bizarre he was and pretty much wrote him off in his later years. It would've been the same for Dean.
He would throw caution to the wind I don't care what the verdict was he had just received a speeding ticket in Bakersfield 2 hours before the crash then travelled to Cholame in 15mins Cholame is 30 miles from Blackwell's Corner 30 miles in 15 mins equals 120 MPH. His hobby was car racing speed was a natural instinct for Jimmy.
Nothing about this is really that dark or hidden. I didn't know his Mom died when he was 9, but most of the other info is rather common knowledge (the true stuff anyway). I also know Dean used to date Eartha Kitt when he lived in NY and took classes with Strasberg. That's how they met. And if I recall correctly from her autobiography, Kitt, Dean and Paul Newman all had a menage a trois back then as well. I don't care about anyone's orientation, but that's 3 beautiful people in that triangle. If anything, I think Dean was likely bi or bi-curious, but because people are so obsessed with homosexuality, they just assume any man attracted to another man can't possibly be attracted to women as well.
Very true, Candace. I am from Indiana and interviewed his best childhood friend James Pulley. He said that Dean was in love with his onetime fiancee Pier Angeli, and was devastated when Pier's mother made her break off the engagement. It was all Dean talked about when he visited home. Those two made a jaw dropping gorgeous couple. Whenever I bring that up today, people insist that their relationship was a studio setup, but I heard it straight (no pun intended) from his best friend. I'd guess he was bi.
@@bylinesandbygones With all due respect, I'm inclined to believe Eartha's own perspective on their relationship and what took place during their time together than yours. So unless you can point me to where Paul, Eartha or James refuted the story unequivocally, or you're channeling one of the 3 from the dead, I'm going to bid you good day.

Who cares if he was gay or not he was a icon
Many do, its hard for Straights to idolise one of those.
I could care less if he was gay. I stood at a Whole Foods once while I thought that a George Michael look a like stood in front of me. I loved George Michael and ran into him many times at the Whole Foods. He was so fine. Beautiful inside and out.
It's important for queer representation. I wish more men were able to embrace themselves like that.
I don’t care if he was guy or straight he was perfect l love him but there is no proof speculation no one knows for sure ❤
He was accused of being gay, just as they did the same with Tony Curtiss, Troy Donahue and Marlon Brando. Talent, good looks and envy, were the reasons!
There are NO equivalent film stars to James Dean. Totally unique.
Rest In Peace James dean
Fathers were given a major pass to simply “ship off” their children at any time the mother was not available. Sad really. I love my children even without their mother
? Now not allowed? He did not connect with his father, was happy with his uncle, So had it better than Many, even with their father.... who had cause to rebel.
I was 15 when he died and I was heart broken …
You guys still alive???
@@mr.clapemcheeks2016😂😂😂 she’s bitter asl too read her other comments.
Loved him in 'Giant'. His performance in 'East of Eden', was spot on! He was good at his job. Period!
I think Jimmy Dean just had a fascination with Brando because he was America’s greatest actor. Remember, Brando literally became a hero to people and was greatly admired. I can even see Jimmy Dean copying Brando’s mannerisms. I’m sure a lot of actors were copying Brando which wasn’t a wise thing to do but Dean was a natural talent and was able to get away with it along with his screen presence. He was a talented actor for sure and one of the best within his time, in my opinion.
3 movies is NOT a "handful", it's a "pinch"... & a mighty insignificant one at that.
James Dean was one of the best actors I have seen in my whole life . I have seen all his three films. Rebel without a cause , east of Eden and giant !!!! He is the only person I have seen who as done a crying emotional scene that really did look real. And it was hard to believe he was just acting. If James Dean wud have lived he wud have gone straight to the top with is acting and wud have been very rich. !!!! I don't care what this man did in his private life or how many women and men he slept with. As far as I'm concerned there will never be another actor that cud ever touch James Dean .!!!! A beautiful laid back handsome man.😭😭😭♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Hes the best actor ive ever seen. His improvisations sets him apart from the rest.Looks, style, acting prowess, screen presence and magnetism there will never be another like him ever again.
Great job, I didn't know how complex he was. Thanks!
I wonder about the police officer who gave the ticket; what a thrill to meet James Dean, then ...
"Take up dentistry?" lol Like its knitting or something.
I think back then Dr's and Dentists learned as they go. Today I think Dentists have to have more schooling than MD
my bf is a bit of a James Dean, he took his own tooth out with pliers.......its pretty basic, dentistry, don't be fooled by huge fancy power tools lol.
@@DLCMORRIS Is he also a closet homosexual?
@@charlottemcgill8289 They still had dental schools then with academic admission standards. Its not something one would "take up" on a whim like a hobby.

Neither one of those things surprised me about him. I was a teenager then.
I envy you! I wish I was a teenager then.
What was it like back then? Do you have any stories?
I really liked James Dean and all of his movies. Rip James Dean
Never saw his movies but I heard songs about him so he must've made an impact
He did 👍🏼
He only made 3 movies. I would definitely check them out! They are amazing! East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause, and Giant 🦋
@@inspiredfandoms3462 He made lots of TV movies as well, they're awesome too
According to David Dalton the author of "
James Dean: The Mutant King" James Dean was the
Abraham Lincoln of Teenagers for all time: he freed them all and gave them a voice!
I thought his career was boosted by Elias Kazan giving him best roles of his career i am amazed you didn't mention him intentionally!!!?
Is it crazy that a few years ago, for halloween, I dressed up as James Dean? I did my hair like his and i wore jeans and a white shirt.
Rebel Without a Cause is my favorite James Dean movie,I can watch it again and again
Why there is no mention about his relation with italian actress Pier Angeli ?
Nor the liaisons with Marlon Brando...
Well, he showed off with her motocycle at Pier's wedding church the legend says, they were lovefriends but relation broke up. You're right, that is not mention nor why he rejected to get drafted...

We love James Dean ♥️
He was perfect for that time. We could feel the searching feeling he emitted. I wasn't close to my parents.
I find it so fascinating that most of us probably weren't even a Twinkle, maybe even our parents were a Twinkle & HE seemed to in some way impact our lives. He was so ahead of his time. If only he listened to Alec GUINNESS. Guinness told Dean the week before that if Dean drove that car that he'd be dead in a week & he was. It's crazy how people have premonitions like that. Dean would probably be so astounded if he saw the race cars of today & also knew of all the women in love with him! RIP James Dean one of the world's True Icons. 🙏🙏💞💞💕💕
He had Charisma, but I think He did not love a life.🙋 It is very sad, that this man died too young. 🌸🌸🌸🌸 A Genie🌼🌼🌼🌼 I will look, if River Phoenix is His,, Twin ''. Rest in Peace both. ❤️❤️
" What are we waiting for? Let's bring em back home. "
The Ford sedan collided with James Dean's Porsche in a complete broadside. 22 year old Donald Turnupseed was completely to blame for the accident. More BS about James Dean.
Donald passed away with the truth
Why do we care if he was gay? He was a good actor
Everyone reading this comment should be inspired to start-up **THE WORLD'S BIGGEST BULLFROG FARM**, and then make it happen!...(ROFL)
Was the “dark side” he got a speeding ticket 2 hours before he died? I’m confused 🤔
I love james dean so much
He doesn't care.
I wonder what James would have become if he never died..
@CyberWeeb monument mythos
James Franco played him. Did a good job.
@@briteness exactly what I wanted to say
Crazy how he only had 3 movies and he had been dead for more than 60 years but people still talk about him
3 movies released on theaters, because he has lots of TV movies as well, he was getting known by the audience even before his debut in cinema
Thats why hes like no other in Hollywood. He left a sudden and lasting impact like no one else.

I guess Mick Jagger was too young.
Marilyn Monroe was his number one As far as the men they just wanted him to be him Jimmy was unique and way out of their reach
The speeding ticket, may be if he slowed down, he'd would have lived longer and made more great movie's. I love James Dean
I believe that, sadly, he would have killed himself in one way or another before too long had he not died in the car crash.
Hi, there, maybe that's true. sometimes, a person's employment tells you a little bit about him/her. He was a race car driver. He didn't need to go into that career for the money. He had to have loved speed.
He had bipolar for sure....undiagnosed.
It is true.
Yes, he was going to play Billy the kid as well in Left Handed Gun, a role that also ended up with Newman

One of Dean's girlfriends before his death, remember Jerry Seinfeld's Mother in the 2nd greatest Sitcom of All Time (Seinfeld 1990-1998), his mother on the show, in real life she dated James Dean briefly in early 1950's ..... Confirmed fact
That woman was a beard not a real girlfriend.

Peter Lawford had told him not to drive that car.
It was actually Alec Guinness who told him that @ the Villa Capri in Hollywood
He was also banned from auto racing by the producers while filming his last movie bc they were afraid he'd have a car wreck & either injure or kill himself
Why don't you get real and honest we all have a dark past and that is just the truth of it
Well yeah but I'm not celebrity

We all have a dark side, you know....Ying and Yang... but I would hope not a lot have dark "pasts"...
What was his dark past? I don't see anything dark about him. That he was gay? I don't see that as being dark.
Absolutely the best actor that ever lived!❤️
AREN'T WE ALL A LITTLE DARK Sometimes..Dean was Unique Not Many Are like him...And He Lived LIFE on the Wild side...
"rumors circulating about Brando`s sexuality" . really ? Dean yes .
@@abushenob , interesting . maybe that`s where the rumor started , someone mentioned "Brando likes Cox" . i get it now . . . . just joking , thank you Dan .
It's not right to speak ill of those who are no longer here to defend themselves.
He was so intense in East of Eden.
Unrattled by a speeding ticket just hours before his death tells me James Dean was a “rebel “.
he was a good actor, ive seen one of his movies
He was so handsome looking
It would've been the same for Dean.
he liked taking chances - = you can't match a tank with an aluminum can - the result you can plainly see - i 'll do a portrait of him now - rip J D
And the speculation is what starts rumors which might not necessarily be true but these people WANT to believe it. So DISRESPECTFUL
Jimmy and Eartha did not date and no, there was no threesome. They were good friends. That's all
@@bylinesandbygones With all due respect, I'm inclined to believe Eartha's own perspective on their relationship and what took place during their time together than yours. So unless you can point me to where Paul, Eartha or James refuted the story unequivocally, or you're channeling one of the 3 from the dead, I'm going to bid you good day.
@@candacen7779 I can point you directly to Jimmy's family and his best friend (who was there) Lew Bracker, oh! and also to the podcast episodes I've done with them where they talk about this. Is that better?
If Dean had not been stopped for a traffic ticket he would’ve never gotten in that accident he would’ve never been at that spot an accident is perfect timing
It's called "fate"
