I remember this ! I had my tonsils out just after my fifth birthday and I had to eat cornflakes, then ice cream as a treat after. If you know - you know. When I got home I watched this !
Had my tonsills out too. Really wanted a cup of tea so the nurse said I'll sort it, Next thing I know is she's back with with tea but my throat was too soar so she found a funnel turned me over and stuck the funnel in my a-se and started to pour the tea, I shouted stop stop, Nurse said is it too hot. I said no it has no sugar in it, Toast sir? I gave it a miss
Good on you for the happy memories. I had glandular fever. I Remember the joy of staying home watching these classics more than the weakness and suffering. Thanks for sharing!
8th January 2025,Australia,I'd totally forgotten this having not seen it since childhood!!I'm of British and Aboriginal Australian heritage, there's some good Aussie comedy, but nothing can ever beat the old British comedies.😂😂❤❤
😊Jon Pertwee was my second favourite Dr Who after Tom Baker, kinda went downhill after those two were replaced.Ian Davis was okay but I'd got so used to him playing Tristan Farnham(EXACTLY!!) on 'All Creatures Great and Small' for years it kinda ruined it for me him playing any other character.😢❤Brilliant actor who portrayed naughty boy Tristan perfectly😅I named my youngest son Tristan(which is Welsh for 'noisy one') cause I loved that character soo much😂❤Greetings from Australia,10 January 2025.🎉HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL❤
I loved old worzel gummage, thank you for the memories from when i was a young un, im 56 now and still smile when i watch his antics and his worzeleez language 😊 and catweasle as the crow man.
80s kid here so this takes me right back, all sat together after tea in the living room me on the rug on the floor with my sister and brother all watching worzel, those were the days❤❤
Jon Pertwee seems to have been made for this part because he is perfect in the role. You have to have your singing head on to watch this Christmas special. ✨🎄
OH WOW!!I only vaguely remember this from my Aussie childhood,so many stars who went onto bigger and better things.!!😊RIP those have passed and bless those with are still with us.❤❤
The good old days it was better than today no mobile phones no internet and the children had imagination to entertain themselves if this was out in 1980 i was 7 years old
Blimey.not only the best timelord ever star's in this but lots of other irreplaceable royalty 👍👍👍👍 cheers Stephen ✌️✌️✌️✌️ sadly most have left us 🙏🕯️🌹
BIG THANK YOU. for uploading this . This has brought back some fantastic memories. Every year me my grandad used to watch on christmas. Now I was able to sit with my grandson and watch this with him.
Worzel Gummidge was one of the best kids T.V. programmes and always a talking point between me and my friends. Innocent kids fun from a by-gone age when there wasn't identity politics to be rammed down people's throats! The modern re-boot is a very pale imitation!
I loved the original WG too, but you're wrong to say the newer version is a pale imitation. It is actually brilliant and I think you are ignorant assuming it is not as good.
For the life of me I have zero recollection of this Christmas Special. Watched every normal episode religiously and even had that Bendy Toys Wurzel with the changeable heads. But somehow missed this apparently lol.
It's one of my most favourite TV shows as a kid. The one where Worzel went fishing and called the other fishermen " Wanglers" Still sticks in my mind to this day Still makes me chuckle 😃 😀 😅
i really miss television back than .it was magical, movies where magica l santa was every everychilds wish to see. perants keeping the secret alive. Affordability in food entertainment was for everybody as a family.
Made in 1980 i think, Una Stubbs once said in a interview. It was filmed in the July of that year, so was hot as hell to film 😂 I was six when this was made, so my childhood happy time's
Wonderful memories Denis. Just subbed your channel and of course I know your name from 'Galloping Home' ! Still have the 7" single and have recently revisted the series and Dick Turpin! Lovely memories from childhood. So lovely you have a You Tube channel. 😊
Found him a bit scary as a kid at times and equally quite sad when he turned to a scarecrow and was suddenly lifeless and he sort of "died" .. Same sort of early thought provoking emotions i got from the snowman cartoon
I bought this on dvd . Sadly i didnt think it was as good as the normal episodes. Didnt think there should have been singing in it, especially when he wasnt even wearing his singing head..It does bring back loads of happy memories though
Too much political correctness. Killed comedy. Too soft. Wrapped us up in cotton wool. Heaven help us If there was awar. We would be afraid of upsetting te enemy. Definitely loose the war, especially where comedy is concerned. Oh dear, 😢
I remember this ! I had my tonsils out just after my fifth birthday and I had to eat cornflakes, then ice cream as a treat after. If you know - you know. When I got home I watched this !

His son Sean does a good job also definitely gets it from his dad.

The good old days it was better than today no mobile phones no internet and the children had imagination to entertain themselves if this was out in 1980 i was 7 years old
Nostalgia's not what it used to be.
Still remember this on at Christmas for the first time. I came in from riding my new BMX just to watch it...heavily circled in the Radio Times 😂
This is my childhood, ❤
Sat in front of the TV on a Sunday with a bowl of bread pudding and worzel gummage being a kid was awesome back then.
Blimey.not only the best timelord ever star's in this but lots of other irreplaceable royalty 👍👍👍👍 cheers Stephen ✌️✌️✌️✌️ sadly most have left us 🙏🕯️🌹

The Series and Film were actually filmed down the road from me, near Romsey, Braishfield, Hawks Farm, I do believe. Good ol Worzel!
We really did have the best tv programs 👍👍
I’ll be bomswizzeled 😂❤
"Bumswizzled" as it reads in the script!
Love it, Stephen.
One of those few programmes I was genuinely sad when it finished and so excited when it started. The new one is brilliant too.
Worzel Gummidge was one of the best kids T.V. programmes and always a talking point between me and my friends.

For the life of me I have zero recollection of this Christmas Special. Watched every normal episode religiously and even had that Bendy Toys Wurzel with the changeable heads. But somehow missed this apparently lol.

Enjoyed watching again as an adult, just great!
Worzel was awesome in billions of ways
love the Crowmans song at the ball, very haunting.... lovely episode.
You have Dr. Who, East Enders and Are You Being Served? all rolled into one.
Saw the stage show in Birmingham in 1981 which included the song at the end. Brilliant.
It then transferred to the Cambridge in London for two seasons. Fun.
Oh yes enjoyed that took me back to younger years cool 😎
Aahh used to love this, met him once John Pertwee when he came to my Town ❤
I’m sad now :( I miss the old days
We had this in Australia 😂❤ wonderful stuff.
This is abit before my time although i still love watching it.
i really miss television back than .it was magical, movies where magica l santa was every everychilds wish to see. perants keeping the secret alive. Affordability in food entertainment was for everybody as a family.

Good days when the UK was a great place to live look at it now .
Magical memories .
Back in the day when I had the patients to sit and watch something longer than 10 minutes long. "Damn you social media, damn you" 😡
Wonderful memories Denis. Just subbed your channel and of course I know your name from 'Galloping Home' ! Still have the 7" single and have recently revisted the series and Dick Turpin! Lovely memories from childhood. So lovely you have a You Tube channel. 😊
Thanks very much! Best, DK
oh my days ❤
Acting doesn't seem to be too good these days either. Back then. Real acting. No shouting, ni arguments. No over dramatisation.
Una Stubbs and John Pertwee were amazing as worzel and aunt Sally
Agree. And Geoffrey Bayldon. It was a fun shoot.
Great years then it's all gone now 😢
Found him a bit scary as a kid at times and equally quite sad when he turned to a scarecrow and was suddenly lifeless and he sort of "died" .. Same sort of early thought provoking emotions i got from the snowman cartoon
Watched it Live!!!
Watched it Live? How so?
@deniskingmusic Meh,was a Child so Whenever Wherever and However i first watched was live.. ya dik
What memories 😂
Billy Connolly as a scarecrow!
He was a delight to work with.
I bought this on dvd . Sadly i didnt think it was as good as the normal episodes. Didnt think there should have been singing in it, especially when he wasnt even wearing his singing head..It does bring back loads of happy memories though
Pity we can't add scanlines to these old series and films on new tv sets.
Billy Connolly...can't remember him in worzel....brilliant 😂
Mr Crowman aka Catweazle. 😂👍
There used to be a lot of the episodes here on youtube… not sure what happened to them
Nothing to do with me, I only wrote the music for this TV special and the stage musical
It’s was magnificent then & January 1st 2025 it’s as magnificent
What an absolute treat TH-cam suggestion it is
Thank you for sharing 💜

Stuttering away- he wanted aunt sally but had to settle for the cups tee slice e cake
I tried getting my daughter to watch but she was too scared😐
This upload is unremastered, and is missing the opening Southern Television logo and the commercial break bumpers
True. This is the DVD I was given. It was sadly never re broadcast because of a royalties dispute with Southern.
They don't produce such excellence any more for kids and families. 😂
Agree!
100 percent better then that BBC remake they made
Both were good, but the re-make was genius and you're just ignorant of anything new.
Jon was a master.
Billy Connolly 😂
All went a bit Oliver Twist toward the end!
😅probably the only childhood TV character that didn't become a paedo 😅
Too much political correctness. Killed comedy. Too soft. Wrapped us up in cotton wool. Heaven help us If there was awar. We would be afraid of upsetting te enemy. Definitely loose the war, especially where comedy is concerned. Oh dear, 😢
Gentler times, only we did not know it.
Ah the days when you could actually say the word Christmas without offending a Muslim how I miss those days
