Hi Josh. I love your channels and recipes - they've been a huge help for me personally in the last few months. There is something special about your cadence and delivery, scripting, and editing that I can't quite place my finger on. You've made cooking for myself very approachable and fun and I sing your praises to coworkers that order food every day. I'm looking forward to making this recipe next week - thank you.
This is my third time prepping this. Second time I used fajita mix and a fajita sauce marinade. The taste was lack luster. It’s soooooooo much better when you mix the marinade yourself. Also, about 2 lbs of Chicken thighs ended up being 20oz of chicken after trimming fat and cooking. So if you’re trying to have 6oz of chicken a meal I’d recommend 2 packs of 2lbs of chicken thighs.
Stuff like this has been a staple for me this year. Another thing I have been doing to help cut away rice calories is going half and half with finely shredded cabbage. Tends to work pretty well for flavor and texture.
It's my 2nd day having this meal and I absolutely love it!! A small tip, if it doesn't seem like a lot of food to you at first, drink a good amount of water before eating, and then by the time you've finished the meal, you'll be so full!!
This is a very good rule to follow. I drink a half gallon of filtered water every day within a 16 hour period. This doesn’t include my coffee and tea. Helps me eat less and I actually feel better because water helps with everything.
Just in time for meal prep day! I just ate my last serving of your Chicken Dijon Pasta Salad prep yesterday. This one looks amazing. I'll probably sub in 88/12 ground beef since I have some in the freezer that needs used instead of the fresh ingredients I'm getting ready to freeze for long term storage. I only have the confidence to experiment in the kitchen because I started watching your channel and cooking these meal preps. Was never much of a cook, but your channel made it approachable and now I cook most of the meals for the house, both as prep and single meals. So much time saved and it has made it way easier to see progress in my body recomposition journey. Every meal feels like a cheat meal, but are macro friendly. Thanks Josh!
Made this today, eating it right now. Substituted brown rice for the white, worked fine. Really, really good! Thank you so much, and I'll be back for more.
I never cook because I'm not an amazing chef. I made this and it turned out amazing. The only thing I adjusted was cooking vegetables and such longer since it seemed I had a much smaller pan than you. Everything else worked out well.
I just made this and it was delicious. I added 3 jalepenos to give it a little bit more kick. Next time I'll try with boneless thighs instead of tenders. Either way I'll be adding this into my meal prep rotation.
Made this today, I’m in love with your channel, low calorie high protein meals, Asian turkey bowl is one of my favs, but I’ve done honey pork and really enjoying. I’m gonna do your chicken hack by putting it in the fridge. And make some of those easy chicken meals for lunch, I need some better lunch meals. Thanks for the great reviews. I’d like to see a video on all the cooking supplies you use, like the brands and details, Knives, etc
I do something similar to this with your baked chicken thigh recipe but I like what you’ve done here. Sometimes I add some black beans to this for a bit more
Josh I really appreciate all you do. I started following your meal prep recipes at the start of Septbember and I've lost over 20 pounds in 6 weeks largely thanks to your recipes. Thank you!
I made this today. It is delicious! I used chicken breasts instead of thighs. I was careful not to overcook it and was very juicy. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly and it's perfect! I'll be making this often!
This is my favorite meal prep! I just did it with no rice so I can sub with tortilla or veggies. Very easy and tasty, please keep doing this kind of videos ❤❤❤
Question: shouldnt you also season the vegetables properly in the pan? Or is the marinade from the chicken really enough for a good and strong seasoning? Also: really good and short Video. Recipe seems really simple and easy, and im definetly going to try it out on the weekend.
I prepped this last week for my self and a friend and I have to say, this is probably gonna be my new favorite chicken and rice dish next to the honey sriracha chicken rice bowl. my friend loved it!
This looks top quality. You've saved me a lot of money by giving me the confidence to cook some lunches for work and this one is definitely getting added to the rotation. Probably a silly question, but can garlic powder be used to sub for the garlic cloves?
Fresh garlic will always have the strongest (and best, in my opinion) presence and flavor, but it can definitely be substituted in dishes. Things like pre-jarred, paste, or powder won't have the same bite or intensity but can also save a lot of time if that's what you're looking for.
@@joeycook2373 It's more I don't have the thing you rub the clove on (could easily get) and don't know where you buy garlic cloves (almost certainly available in my supermarket), so laziness basically lol.
@@NerreraFightStories Just chop it, really the biggest factor with garlic is peeling it. If you can get yourself to do that the rest is nothing. And if you really need one of those graters to grate the garlic for whatever reason, the Mrs or your mom might have one at the bathroom closet you could borrow that.
One of the best meal prep vids ive seen. Such great informative advice. The tip about the microwave and weird chicken taste was very helpful. Thanks bro 👍💪
I have a question, if i meal prep Sunday night, would my food still be good Friday afternoon, or would i have to break it up and meal prep again Tuesday night ?
Quick question, is it safe to reheat the rice twice after its cooked (while meal prepping and eating), I was always told you could only reheat rice once. Thanks x
is this able to be frozen? I have had gastric sleeve and can only eat small portions at a time so would end up with twice as many servings. I am new to your channel but making a list of things that I can make and store in freezer
Me losing my mind in satisfaction when I pause after every direction to follow as stupidly accurately as possible and then hear the sweet sound of "so get out five of your meal prep containers"
Great recipe. But is it ok to store food in the black plastic containers ? I’m searching for plastic containers and i love this one, but i wanna know if it save for food and microwave
It depends on where you look I guess. You can find an answer to either way. I personally don’t microwave in the plastic but they are listed as microwave safe
Chicken thighs have more fat on them and this leads to juicer meat. Where as the chicken breast are a leaner cut of meat and would probably dry out when stir fried. Use chicken breast when you cook in the crockpot or when you cook in a casserole dish in the oven.
Thanks for another great clip! Sorry for just poppin' in your face, but, question: For me, keto works best (max 30g ch, 1200kcal) for weightloss, but I'm tired, even hardly can move on bad days, always cold, etc, basically, I'm physically dead. But if I don't go for keto, kcal watch only (same 1200kcal), I lose half the weight or less. How's that? (muscle loss is unlikely, that's something I don't really have anymore). Any ideas? Googled, failed :)
A good amount of weight loss especially at the beginning of low carb diets comes from losing water weight. Your body stores ~3g of water with every gram of carbs so when you deplete your carb stores, you lose the water weight with it. Losing actual tissue takes time, and doing it slowly is best for adherence purposes and future success.
@@TheMealPrepManual oh woops, I didn't know about the carb-water storage but now it makes sense (early in the diet, in the first 1-2 months I'm in and out that small room for "releasing" a crazy amount of "water"). Thank you so much!
Chickens breasts typically dry out more easily, especially when reheated in the microwave. I usually add a little bit of water and cover with a plastic splatter cover so it kind of “steams” it and keeps it from drying out as bad
@@TheMealPrepManual very nice. I feel like I saw a Detroit element in one of your videos. Where do you play? Regionally? I’m in the Detroit area. I used to play a lot but I’m having some health issues. I hope to be back at it this summer 🤷🏻♂️
@josh cortis Isn't this on the low-end calorie wise if I'm eating once day (intermittent fasting, sorta) and working out 3x a week? Wouldn't it be better if I basically combined two meals into one each time (meaning I would need to make more servings)?
Already prepped this yesterday and have to say it's a real winner. The fajita seasoning is perfect and the meal is cheap and easy.

How about adding an egg or two when cooking in the rice?
You could if you wanted
Would you recommend having the chicken cook in an air fryer while cooking the veggies and mixing the rice in to save time?
You could but letting the veggies pick up all the leftover bits in the pan after the chicken helps with flavor
