I've shed tears today man, but like yoda said: _“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. I could not believe it until I checked on the internet.. 2016 really was a shit year, but her death was the most painful for me. I was supposed to go watch Rogue One again, I'm sure i'll cry next time i'll see it.
This clip has the greatest timing of editing in cinematography, the greatest sound sequences, the greatest one-liners, the greatest heroic thrill, the greatest score. Nothing has topped it despite all the new technology over the past 45 years. This is not just science fiction - it's art.
They could’ve even brought an adspted version of this sequence in the sequels and I wouldn’t even be mad. It has all the right qualities of being filled with action, hope, and suspense.
Gives me chills when Ben says, “Luke trust me.” Without hesitation he turns off his targeting computer. Luke trusted Ben with his life. He meant everything to him.
This May Be offensive to Prequel Fans, But I Actually Prefer The Orginal Trilogy over The Prequels The Reason For that is that it’s immersive. The Only Reason Why I dislike the prequels is because…They Don’t catch the same love for what I had for OT Star Wars.
The Star Wars saga has always been about the force. People seem to misconstrue and gripe on character and plot. If you follow the force through all parts of each trilogy you’ll have a much more fulfilling time.
Interesting fact, the reason the person who was reading the ignition was the same person who readied the Death Star to destroy Alderaan. He considered himself the "Largest Killer in the Galaxy" and was guilty over it. He was slow because he knew what the Rebel's plot was, and he was waiting for something, anything to happen. He was slow because he wanted to die and could not deal with the extreme guilt that he felt. So he waited, for something to happen, and before he died, he thought "I want to die. I will avenge millions of people. I can't deal with this anymore." And then... Boom. 1,179,239 people were killed in an instant. These included troops, support gunners, pilots, technicians, etc. War is horrible. War is hell.
Everytime I watch this even as a young man born in 1998 it still is one of the greatest films ever. Just rewatching all this bring me to tears wishing that Star Wars brought back this feeling and not woke agendas.
@@SG91218 In Legends, the name of the guy was Tenn Graneet. He felt so guilty over what he did to Alderaan, he bought time for Luke to destroy the DS so he wouldn't have to take any more lives. He was Force-sensitive.

Watching Star Wars in the late 70s for the first time would be MIND BLOWING. A space drama with a religion even more inspiring than the futuristic technology. The Force is an idea we immediately recognize innately as a hidden truth; sure it is a fantasy version of Taoism and Buddhism, yet names don't matter--it is the concept that resonates. It is for the same reason that the material reasons given in the prequels don't resonate. One touches a truth we feel, the other is made up.
Amazingly the final form (including the threat of the Death Star destroying the Rebel Base) of this sequence was largely created in the edit. If you notice all exposition is made in offscreen dialogue and voice overs.

They should have modified and used Alec Guinness's dialoge in Rise of Skywalker with Rey , in her final battle with Palatine. Or had Mark Hamill quote it. It would have bookended the final film off with such nostalgia.
Love this clip, the music, matched to the sentiment of the scene, along with visceral feelings portrayed by each scene. A serious struggle against oppression, in a futuristic fantastical setting of human wonderment. I will be forever dismayed at how the latest movies have completely lost that visceral feeling, have lost any sense of purpose at all, and morphed the movie into a second rate lazy "sci fi" movie, in which they can instill a left wing political agenda, and attempt to broaden the movie far and wide in interest; so far and wide in fact that it doesn't interest anyone really. "If you try to become all things to all people, you become nothing to everyone, including yourself." Modern day Star Wars is utter garbage.. Thank fully we have the first 3 originals :)
The trench sequence has kind of been forgotten how great it is. Most people rank Star Wars 77 in the top 2 or 3 Star Wars films because it is the original but not for not any reason other than it was the first (myself included). It's a great sequence in a good film, not just in a fanboy sense.
