Buck Mountain, Adirondacks

October of 2023 I hiked a trail that was only a month old. Buck Mountain near Long Lake NY has one of the only privately owned fire towers in the Adirondacks and has always been closed to the public.....until now. So I took advantage of the great fall weather to explore this new trail and historic fire tower. Follow along.

Beautiful scenery. Why did the lumber company decide to open this trail? Did they say?

I believe, the responsibility of the trail and fire tower now fall on Hamilton County. So an agreement was formed between the county, the town of Long Lake, the property owner and the hunting club that lease that lands. If I read it right it took about 4 years to work things out and build the trail.
