Before the final game England fans were disrespecting Italy, burning their country’s flag and singing “it’s coming home, it’s coming home” that’s why when Italy took their revenge and won Bonucci was screaming “it’s coming to Rome, it’s coming to Rome” ❤️
As a spanish there is no country that I respect and also kind of fear more than Italy during tournaments. Our matches are always close as fuck, and this time it was specially heartbreaking because nobody expected Spain to be in the top 4, we got there, we could've won that match, but ultimately fell short. Funny thing tho is nobody in Spain wanted England to win the final, we were all supporting Italy lol.
That's because you can say now, that you lost at the end, only to the winners..that should make the Spanish fans proud, like the Italians were when they lost against Spain on the penalties shout out on 2008 when your team won the Euro. Usually if Spain beat Italy, they will go on and win the trophy 😉🇪🇸🇮🇹
As an Italian I can say that the missed qualification to the World Cup is something that really hurts, we put much passion in our national teams, either the players and the supporters
The Italian player was screaming "It's coming to Rome" because leading up to the final the English media were saying the cup "Was coming home" to England. He was trolling them.
The penalty shootout occurs when ‘overtime’ finishes and the teams are still level, the shootout is best of 5 but if both teams are still equal after 5 it’s called sudden death where if the opponent scores and you don’t then it’s over and the opponent wins . It’s immense feelings and emotions in penalty shootouts
Most of the time it comes down to mental strength, these are professional footballers who have no problem scoring from 12 yards, but the nerves can be overwhelming for the penalty taker
Italian born and raised here. For anybody who thinks "eat more Pasta" is an insult or something about "pasta": brothers, it isn't. In Italy we say "you have to eat more pasta" when we want to tell young people they still have a long road ahead of them, Bonucci is older then the stadium, that's why. It's an "old sailor" thing to say. It's not meant to be against England as a team or a country, I'm reading insane stuff here LMAO, we don't hate you we promise. Good luck with the WC, you actually deserve another star on your jersey imo.
Love it. Italy are not usual underdogs btw, it was a shock when they didn't qualify for the 2018 World Cup. That's why no one expected them to bounce back so quickly. Other than that, they are one of the 2 or 3 historically most successful nations.
Italy is no underdog! all the tears at the beginning was because it was a shock to the entire world an elite team like Italy couldn't qualify for the World Cup
Yeah but Chiesa the son isn't really a star as his father was considered at the time. He has some potential but he takes bad decisions many times, he's a bit too individualistic in my opinion and most of all, not as good as his father as a striker.
on a penalty shootout, the pressure is on the penalty takers, never on the goalies. A goalkeeper can be the hero just by saving 1 penalty while a penalty taker can be blame and ashamed for years by being the one who miss it.
@@human0_0skull LOL! no one ever blame a GK for failing to save a penalty, in history of football, the blame always on those who miss the penalty. Look what happen to Rashford
This is the Euro Finals tournament. It takes place every 4 years and hosts the national teams from Europe that qualified. In the first stage of this tournament, teams are divided into groups and play against each other once and are awarded 3 points for wins and 1 point draws. The team on top of each group after the completion of this stage advance into the knock-out stages, which leads to the Euro Final match. So, in this instance, certain countries were chosen to host the initial group stages and then the semi-finals and final of the tournament.
@@hokagerobin9646 Nope. Every 4 years. You may get wrong because two years after each Euro Cup there is a World Cup, so every two years there is a Euro or a World Cup. This year, for example, there is a World Cup and in the 2024 there will be an other Euro Cup, 2026 an other World Cup, and so on...
Loosing in football in a World Cup or in the European Cup is like loosing a war to us. That's how important it is. Especially in England, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brasil and Argentina.
Idk if someone in the comments already said this but there's a difference between a national team and a club team. A national team is when you play for your country which happens in tournaments such as the world Cup, the euros, concafa, etc. A club team is when you play for a club in a league. For example Barcelona and Real Madrid are both teams from the Spanish league. Club team are who play in the campaign league etc. I hope that helps clear things up a little. Ps. The premier league are club teams in England.
The way you guys react to football is by far the best I've seen out there. You actually watch and ask questions that you are unsure of. I love seeing the fact that you two want to learn more and more about the game. Great reaction!
Keep in mind that this isn’t local teams these are the fucking national teams and countries like England, Italy, spain etc live for football and the pressure of a whole country is on just you when you take that penalty the pressure is insane
I’d say this was the greatest joy as an Italian football fan, but thank god I had the honor of seeing my team win a World Cup! This is just the beginning of a new era, we are all so proud of these boys, it’s been an incredible journey 💙💙💙
italy like germany are never underdogs though XD two most successful european countries in soccer. even if their teams are without superstars both those countries can be very dangerous. mentality, very good coaching staff, managers and big amount of quality players. they have so much to work with. too much depth. but yeah for a lot of people it was a surprise since Italy failed to qualify in 2017.
When you mentioned real juggernaut and say Italy were the underdogs, that is hilarious. Italy has won 4 Worle cups and 2 European cups. They've also appeared on 10 finals, 6 world cups and 4 European finals. Whilst England has only won 1 World Cup in their history, Zero European cup and a grand total of 2 finals, 1 World Cup and 1 European. You got to understand, Italy is joint second most successful nation in the world. England are the real underdogs, smaller nations like Netherlands and Uruguay have more success. The reason why this run and win was extra joyous to Italian fans is that Italy were ruined by a terrible coach and a clown of FA president who appointed him. He made Italy miss a World Cup for the first time in 2018, something that goes against the prestigious history of Italy. Mancini came in, the qualifier of the Euro Italy had most win, and Italy played the best football the entire tournament. You won't find anyone who would argue Italy was by far the best team in the tournament and playing the best football overall. England had a lacklustre group stage playing boring football and reached the final on the eaiser side of the draw, only playing Germany who were in decline and their coach leaving. Italy reached the final knocking out number 1 ranked team Belgium and historical team like Spain.
@@samuraijose817 they didn't invent it. The first form of football (it was originally mixed with rugby rules) it's dated mid xvth century in Florence. They still hold a tournament every year. In England they just decided to split this sport in rugby or football and wrote the rules
Damn, I remember being in my city's square with the TV's on looking at the match with my best friends and many other people. What an amazing moment. We all cried after the final ahhahaha . Love from Italy🇮🇹♥️
When a match in these types of tournaments ends in a draw after 90 minutes they play an extra 30 minutes to decide the winner. If after that extra 90-minute period there is still a draw, the teams play a penalty shootout to decide the winner. In the penalty shootout, the teams start with 5 penalties each with teams taking turns shooting the penalties. Whoever scores most wins. If after this stage they are still level, each team takes one penalty each until one misses. This final, one penalty each is called sudden death. The penalty shootout stage does not apply to National leagues (e.g Premier League, Italian League, Grek League), where teams from the same country play against each other, as these leagues last the whole season and clubs are awarded points for wins (3) and draw (1). The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned champion. Penalty shootouts are also used in domestic Cup matches.
This comes second in my opinion to Italy 🇮🇹 World Cup win 🏆 in 2006 .. the whole Italian league was under the shadow of betting scandals that rocked the league.. Italy went into world Cup under a cloud and not rated well in comparison to teams of old.. Italy proved the doubters wrong .. 👌
The "It's coming to Rome" Was an reply to English Media which with their arrogance they were sure that they would win, and their phrase was, "It's coming Home" . Home = England, to them.
The pressure is on the kicker not the keepers. The keepers are not really expected to make the save but it's great if they do...the kicker is expected to score
It really annoys me how they watch the video without researching what theyre watching. This is WAY bigger than playoffs. The story is they failed to Qualify for the World Cup (where the top national teams over the world play eachother, Italy are cosidered GODS in football and were expected to atleast reach the knockouts in the world cup). As they failed to even qualify; this is a redemption video. You have the World cup, Then the Euros (best nations in europe). The world cup is played every 4 years, and so is the Euros but theyre 2 years apart. So each year would go: World cup, no competition, Euros, no comp, World cup, no competition, Euros, no comp etc. So they didnt qualify for world cup (year 1), Then didnt play in the world cup (year 2), Year 3 was no competition, then year 4 is euros.
Basically in a tournament knockout stage if a game ends 0-0 during regulation 90mins, boath teams go to extra-time a further 30 mins to find a winner. But if it still ends up 0-0 thats when you go to penalties(the back and forth you were taking about)...which your aim is to outscore the opponent
In football there are also national teams tournaments where countries play each other and the footballers play for the pride of their nation. This was the European Championship where only European countries participate, but there are similar tournaments in other continents as well. Then every 4 years there is the World Cup where all countries in the world participate, fun fact: the 1994 World Cup was held in USA :)
Bonucci's coming to Rome is due to the fact that before the match in England mocked italians saying: Football is coming Home (England) so as we won we told them back Bonucci's sentence.
Also, as some comments said already about the "coming to rome". The thing is that the English men were the favourites, and since the brithis are the ones who invented football, they were all saying "Its coming home!" So that's why the italian's answer to that chant after they won was: Its coming Rome!
fun fact some of the coaches of these national teams used to play for their countries including the French, Spanish, Italian and english coach used to play for the country
We went from not qualifying for the World Cup to become the Champions of Europe!!! 💚🤍❤️ I am becoming goosebumps everytime i see this or just thinking about ❤️ We Italians have Italy and Calcio (football) in our hearts ❤️ If the national team loses in such a case the whole nation is shattered. The players arent sorry for themselves, they are sorry, because they let their country and their people down. 🇮🇹🔥 We win and lose as a nation - as a group of brothers and sisters 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹 „Football isnt about life and death - Its way more serious“ 😉🔥 Our Assistant Coach Gianluca Vialli fought cancer several times but he will probably die because of it. This title was dedicated to him by the whole team! You can see him at 22:41 Bonucci screamed „Its coming to Rome!“ because all the english people were singing „Its coming home“ the whole tournament.. But it didnt 😉
You two just made my day…Italy’s Azzurri is playing next week in the US for the first time in almost 20yrs…and I am getting ready to see them next week. Being a die hard fan of both my Azzurri and the club Juventus…I cannot tell you how intense the feelings get over these matches and how the competition between clubs is…the whole “it’s coming Rome” slogan started because the English were saying “it’s coming home” referring to the trophy and that they started modern football! As a die hard fan that bleeds blue for my Azzurri…they may have started it, but the Italians perfected it! Forza Azzurri!
Fun fact: "the church in the middle of the village" is a French idiom which means something like "the debt has been payed back" in fact the commentator says it when Chiesa scores the advantage goals
Italy by no means is an underdog with 4 World Cup and 2 UEFA Euro won. Spain won only 1 World Cup and 3 UEFA Euro. France won 2 World Cup and 2 UEFA Euro. England won only 1 World Cup (1966) and placed second on one occasion at the UEFA Euro (2020). So, as you can see Italy as a National team is a very strong one. It was a shock that they didn't qualify. People were actually crying about it.
This is not the Playoffs. This is the EURO CUP! Every player plays for their COUNTRY! It’s a different kind of passion … The club team you can choose. The National team is a greater calling❤️🔥
Guys I think a contributing element to the passion is that in Europe you can have away fans every game. That must be harder in the US how many fans are travelling coast to coast to support their team? In the UK coast to coast is like 100 miles if that. Away fans create a common enemy, great atmosphere at games and ultimate tribalism.
Yeah so basically they showed snippets of Italy's journey to the final, all from EuroCup 2020. It started in Rome and ended at Wembley for the semifinal with Spain and the final with England. Loved this vid, I got a bit weepy all over again haha
Looks like you guys are really falling in love with football/soccer now 🥳😍 I now you are planning on going to europe to watch some. You will not regret it. Experience of a lifetime.
The match we at the beginning of the video wasn't a normal match, it was the last round of the qualifiers for the 2018 world cup held in Russia. By drawing that match Italy didn't qualify for the first time since 1958. That's why a lot of them were crying
I vividly recall their victory and travel. Almost the entire continent was rooting for England to lose in the finals against Italy. This was owing to the English fans' lack of respect for their opponents. Germany against England and Denmark vs England are two notable matches in which the English fans can be heard booing Germany's and Denmark's national anthems. We understand that things might get heated, but booing during the national anthem is inappropriate, especially when it is done in front of numerous countries. In terms of Denmark vs. England, I believe this was the turning point for many non-English football fans. During the match, there were several controversies, one of which served as England's golden ticket: Raheem Sterling's infamous dive in the penalty box during the dying minutes of extra time, which gave them a free goal. The game was then dragged on to penalty shootouts, where both sides performed admirably; unfortunately, among the English supporters, there was a clown who thought it would be a fantastic idea to direct a laser at Denmark's goalkeeper's eye. These were most likely some of the key reasons why Europe was significantly more supportive of Italy than of England, because English football supporters (not all) were a disgrace and England had scammed their way to the finals.
I’m English and I was agreeing until the last sentence, we scammed our way? Blame the referee for giving the penalty not England as a team. England got there fair and square and you know it. Sterling didn’t dive he went down lightly yes, but to suggest there wasn’t contact is a lie he got clipped and went down, if a Denmark player did the same you’d be celebrating it to this day, the whole of Europe just has a narrative even though you know you’d say the same if Sterling was danish or wherever your from
@MotionBrB Alright, first of all I'm not Danish nor am I even European (feel like my username makes that blatantly obvious) so generally I wouldn't really care who would've won given that I have no links to the country nor the continent. We need to clarify what a "dive" is because I think we have different understandings of this term. For me a "dive" is when a player purposely falls with minimal or no contact, in order to gain an advantage. Sterling knew very well what he was doing, and he was LOOKING for this opportunity. He's not new to this sport, and this definitely isn't the first time he's been accused of an overt dive. Yes there was contact, but I'd be generous to even consider that contact to be minimal. I will admit that the referee was strongly at fault as well, but this does not excuse Raheem's pitiful actions. He had all the motivation and reason to do what he did (down 1-0, had a few minutes left in the game to stay alive). I share this opinion with many across the world (former & active professional football players, managers and the general public). You cannot just say "blame the referee for giving the penalty" - quoted by you, as this would never have taken place if Raheem didn't dive. You cannot excuse Raheem's actions, nor disassociate his dive as a whole and find an excuse as to why he had nothing to do with it ("blame the referee for giving the penalty" - quoted by you). You mention that I had suggested that there wasn’t any contact. This couldn’t be further from the truth so I’d suggest that you thoroughly read a comment before commenting on it. I had never suggested that there wasn’t any contact, I had proposed that it was a “dive”. Furthermore, I'd like to touch on your assumptions about me. "England got there fair and square and you know it" No I don't know, as I strongly disagree with your point of view. “even though you know you’d say the same if Sterling was danish or wherever your from” No, given that I have a very strong opinion on diving. I find this act disgraceful and outright embarrassing especially when we’re talking about the ticket to the finals of the EU cup. It shows the lack of respect a player has. When a Chelsea player dives (fan of Chelsea), I can’t help but cringe and question “don’t you feel embarrassed when it’ll be replayed on the big screen?”. You say that Europe has a narrative on England, in that case I would like to know what that narrative was/is, and where you got that information from. So to sum it up, I find that your comment reveals your understanding of a dive in football and just how biased you are given that you are willing to call Sterling’s actions “a light fall” and not a dive. It is astoundingly obvious that Sterling committed a full-fledged dive (this accusation is strongly supported by many former & active professional football players, managers, the general public and media). The match rightfully belonged to Denmark.
That is called a "penalty shootout". In a play-off game, and in this case it was the semi-final of the European Cup, a tie is not an option. So if the game is tied after 2x45 minutes, the game goes into overtime which is 2x15 minutes. If the game is then still tied, then you have a penalty shootout. For such a shootout each team nominates 5 players who alternate taking shots. It's a one shot with no rebound, player against goalie. After each team has shot all five penalties, whoever scored more is the winner. If after five penalties it is still tied, then the shootout goes into "sudden death" mode, meaning each team gets one additional shot, and if one misses and the other scores, the one who scored is the winner. You keep going until every single player from each team has already taken a shot, even the goalkeepers are required to take the penalty shot if necessary. The longest penalty shootout I have ever seen ended 11-10 ... everybody scored and it got to the point where the goalkeepers were the only players on each team that had not taken shots yet, so they shot against each other .... one of them made the penalty, the other one did not ... Penalty shootouts are seen as great in dramatics and there hast to be a winner in the end, but you only get there when both teams were really evenly matched and it can go both ways. There are no favourites in a penalty shootout. It gets down to who can still concentrate better after having already been playing for two hours, who will be mentally strong enough to pull the shot off, and of course there is a little bit of luck involved.
dude your brother makes the reactions way better cuz u talk to each other and shit, really like the videos with your brother, u guys REALLY should react to the video "Italians Do It Better ● Most Amazing Defending Ever" its a really good trust me
as an italian missing for the secon time qualification to the world cup actually made me pretty sad and all, but knowing that most of the country we're sad even for us.. it wqas a great fair play.
When a game end in draw (and is an elimination stage, which means a team has to win yes or yes), they go to extra time (2 halves of 15 min), if they are still in a draw, they go to penalty shoot outs. Each team 5 penalties, whoever scores the most, wins. If after the first 5 they are still in draw, i think the first one to miss one loses. Ps. this is the MOST heart clenching moment in a match ever. IMAGINE, playing for an hour and a half + half an hour extra time, to let it ALL be decided by ONE kick, ONE goal, ONE block from the keeper. Ufff
They're called penalty shootouts: in knock-out games a draw isn't an acceptable result, one has to go out, so after the game they go to penalty shootouts, they go from 11 meters and they shoot, there are 5 shoots, if after those shots it's still tie then it's sudden death, the first team to go on advantage wins
The why do I have to come in was because there was a better option on the bench who could go out and score goals and the guy said put him in not me we need to win that’s a great teammate right there
In the week before the final they burned our flag, the blowed our hymn, they beat us... But we are Italy, we civilized the Europe with the Roman Empire, Italy is everywhere with our cars, with our food, with our passion. We defeated England in their own capital, and this flag 🇮🇹 will never die, even with Covid. Our strong was born to the sound of funeral oration. Football has not returned home, football came to Rome 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🤍💙🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
You guys should react to the usa mens team coming up for the world cup..they have the potential to be .one of the best team assembled in american history...
The way it works is like this there are 8 groups of 4 teams each team plays 3 games a win is 3 points a draw 1point loss 0 points. The first 2 teams get to advance into the next round wich is 8th quarter final where 8 teams remain from here knockout rounds begins when at the end of the game if they draw from this point they go to penalty shootout the team who wins get to advance until they get to the final. I also have to mention groups are categorized by letters like from A to H example group A group B the 2 teams that advance from the group stage the winner of that group plays the second placed of another group example winner group A plays against the second placed of group B and the second placed of group A plays against the winner of group B and so forth. So to summarize -Group stage 8 groups of 4 teams -8th quarter finals ( knockout rounds) -Quarter finals (8 teams remain ) -semi finals (4 teams remain) - the finals 2 teams whoever wins, wins the euro cup or the world cup works the same way depending on the continent like Europe there less groups world cup there are more groups. I hope I explained it correctly
If you want to see one of the best football managers on the planet wo is also known to be very emotional on the sideline, watch a "Klopp best moments" video, there are a bunch of those. He is a funny, grounded guy who, when introduced in Liverpool he (since there was a manager in the league at the time who was called "the special one") called himself "the normal one", his press conferences are often a blast as well, when he once had his glasses destroyed during a goal celebration, he later stated that "it is quite hard to find glasses, without glasses." very likeable.
We really deserved it after not going to 2018 world cup.... It's not a coincidence that I'm watching this video the afternoon before the playoff against North Macedon
This is the euros where national teams in Europe Are partisipating to becoming the european champions it would be kinda like having america having to go up against 20 other teams that was at the same level like when they suggest creating a "world" team in basketball. Some May Even argue that the euros Are more comoetitive than the world cup as the Best players exept Messi and neymar Are pretty much in Europe and for the world cup there Are always some bad team that qualifies.
This is not a club team's tournament, it's a national team's tournament, but only between european countries (the Euro Cup), the second greatest football tournament for country teams, after the World Cup
About the tournament: it's called "euro cup", national teams first have to go through the qualifiers, then there's the group stage: 4 teams in different groups play against each other, the two with the most points and the best nation teams who placed third to complete the round of 16, the knockout stage, direct elimination, no chances, then the final ofc
damn Bro, there is no such thing as someone who does not experience the world championship at least once as it should be, at the next world championship I want you both here, with my grandmother eating spaghetti and cheering on Italy.
@@domyconte781506 Fratello italiano, lo so bene, è tanto altro, bello ma anche brutto. Era ironico, e poi ho scritto un commento non un manifesto che danneggia la visione popolare dell'Italia all'estero
He screamed it's coming Rome becuase of all the Engeland fans where singing it's coming home and Rome and home is almost the same you know ( don't know how to say it in english) so as soon as italy won everyone was screaming it's not coming home it's coming Rome as sort of like taking the piss out of the Engeland fans
It was a double big deal for the Italy this competition (Euro 2020). 1st reason, they missed to qualify for the 2018 world cup for the 1st time since a long long time (last time it was in 1958). 2nd reason was also cause the last time they won the Euro (it's easy to understand, it's the competition that names the best european team for 4 years before next Euro competition). Each country starts in the group phase, there are 6 groups (they allowed more teams to participate since Euro 2016 if I'm not mistaking, there weren't as many teams as now since that), each group has 4 teams, only the 2 best teams in the group will go on with the 4 best 3rd teams. The organisation will see which of these 4 best 3rd teams had more points, best goal difference. Goal difference (goals scored and goals suffered) can be important in that way if a team has as many points as another one to define which one will be the 1st or the 2nd one that will qualify for next round. They'll also choose Once each country played every 3 group matches, they go to the next round called like "eighteen of finals" (as 16 teams will go that round). Each qualified team will go against another team with pre-determined rules, the team that finishes 1st in any group will always go against the second of another group. They determine which 1st team of each group will go against which 2nd one from a pre-determined group (it's something like 1st of group A, goes against 2nd of group C, 1st of group B against 2nd of group D, etc...) Then it's like a playoff tree after that. You can see the "playoff phase" going after the group phase here in this link euro2020-foot.net/euro-2020/calendrier/phase-finale . Then now, the one who'll lose will be eliminated, it can be in the regular time (90 minutes (2 half times of 45 minutes, cut by a 15 minutes pause). If the two teams in any of these playoff games are still tied after the 90 minutes, they'll have to play 30 minutes more called Overtime (2 half times of 15 minutes, at this moment there isn't really a pause like at the half time of the regular 90mn). They just have to swith the side where they were attacking in the previous half (same for the regular time, a team will attack to the right side while the other one has the left one, and then they switch after the half time, same for the overtime. If the 2 teams are always tied at the end of the overtime, they'll go to the penalty shootout as you have seen here (by example Italy against Spain or England). Each team has 5 tries at first, the team that will score more penalties of these 5 will win, if they're always tied up, the 2 teams will choose who will shoot 1 penalty more until a team fail between the two. If they fail or both score they continue until one fails. It'll be like that from first round knock out (huitièmes de finales in french, oitavos de final in portuguese, something like round of 16 in english i'm not sure), then quarter finals, semi-finals and then the final. I hope it's clearer for you guys. In football if a player gets a red card (for a really hard foul) he gets kicked out of the game (he'll get suspended for a certain amount of games, in Euro and World cup, it's one game). If he gets a yellow one, he has to be careful to not get a second yellow one (yellows are given when the ref defines the player made a big foul but still not as hard as for the red) cause he'll get kicked out if he gets 2 yellows in the same match. Goalkeepers have 6 seconds to kick the ball or pass it with the hand inside the penalty box (the big rectangle zone where the keeper is), they can't take the ball with their hands if a team-mate passes it to him with the foot, they have to make the pass with the chest or the head. The goalkeeper can always catch the ball with his hands from an opponent in any way (shoot or if he was passing to a team-mate to try to make an assist). Sometimes a ref can allow a gk (let's call the goalie like that it's faster) to catch the ball with the hands even if the team-mate shot with the foot if the referee assumes the pass was not intended (it's rare but it can happen), by example the ball is deflected while his mate was trying to kick it from the penalty box, etc... Oh and I was forgetting a thing, Euros and world cups were initially organized by a country chosen by the FIFA (many would propose their project to organize the next one, in general it's something like 3-4 countries that propose), Euro 2016 by example was organized by France, Euro 2012 was organized by two countries ((Poland and Ukraine), I think it was the 1st time it happened. In Euro 2020 they chose 11 different cities (semi and finals were played in England). I think it's ridiculous to do that cause, usually it would give the advantage to a country to play all games at home. At least a country shouldn't have had various matches in their country (I think Italy and England had 2 or 3 matches in their country each). Anyway, have a nice day. See you soon.
I understand you're trying to reference this to the NBA to get it, but it's nothing like for the simple reason you're playing for the national team. Most of your teammates are your rivals every other day of the year, and same goes for the fans. We get together when we've been against each other every single day since we are kids, there is nothing like it. I am a huge basketball fan but this really cannot be compared to the NBA and it cannot easily be comprehended by an American I think. See, the Euros are a fierce competition between "rival" countries that have been cohabiting the same tiny continent for centuries. USA v Mexico would not come close to Italy v France/Germany/Spain, for every historical implications that putting countries like this against each other has. I love that you're stepping out of your comfort zone to understand more of our sports culture, it's very cool and I hope my comment arrives with positive energy because that's how I intended it, don't mean to sound aggressive or diminishing towards your culture AT ALL. Love.
you cant een compare it to nba for one simple reason.....all of your teams are American this is 1000 times more intense why? because you play AGAINST ENTIRE COUNTRIES ITS A LEGIT WAR AGAINST COUNTRIES
I just want to say that in my opinion this is even more unpredictable that winning the NBA, becouse there you win going to six or seven matches sometime, so most off the time the best team will end up winning the series, in stead, here, after the knockout stages, every match is an in or out one untill the final, so the Weackest team have more chanse to win even just becouse of a lucky day, in my opinion that’s why italy cuold win the euros even if it weren’t the strongest team. One other thing to say is that playing a tournament like the euros or the world cup is totally different than playing (and winning) a national League or even a tournament like Champions League (even if this one is a lot more similar) becouse different squad value are involved. (Not shure if Is clear, i tried 😂)
When England lined up its players for the penalties, italian commentators immediately criticized their choice to put those 3 young men in there, because of the extreme psychological pressure they had to endure and weren't prepared for. That thing needs experience, not skills nor boldness. Fans can turn against you if you miss an essential score, and to have that at the very beginning of your career it sucks. Even italian fans called it unfair and were concerned for the young england players.
the penalty kick session comes when, after two times of 45 minutes each, and another two smaller times of 15 minutes each, the score is even, like 0-0 or 1-1. there's a coin flip to decide in which "door" these penalties will take place and another coin flip to decide which teams starts first. usually there are 5 penalties for each team. but in case it isn't enough, the series go on until a team fails a penalty, with the same amount of chances for both teams.
Euros are a group stage/play-off continental tournament of Europe. This championship happen each 4 years. 24 european national teams are divided by 6 groups of 4 teams. Every group team face each other. The match winner wins 3 points and the loser nothing. If a draw happen, one point to each team. The 1st and 2nd of the group qualifies to the play-offs as he four best 3rd place teams of all groups also qualify. Then round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and final.
It wasn't the playoff, the one in Munich (Germany). there are 6 groups, in which each national team plays a match against every other in the same group. after that, the two best national teams of each group and the 4 best teams among all those who got third place are qualified to the final phase, consisting in: round of 16, quarter finals, semi finals and final. this was the first time an itinerant european championship was experimented.
In tournaments if it’s like we say it’s equal like it stays 1-1 or 2-2 what ever. It goes to over time were they play 30 min more. Original it’s 90 min. Now it get’s to 30 more minutes so it’s 90 - 120 minutes and if it still is a equal score it goes to penalty’s
17:13 of the video. When you with your team arrive to a draw after regular 90 mins, and after the 30 mins divide in 15 Min for first and second overtime. Then they're allowed according by football rules to have 5 freekicks, if these five arent enough they continue ti shoot just when One player of this two teams missed the penalty. Then the game Is finish and they assigned the winner to the winner team

Appreciate the comment

Crazy how they invented the sport and still have those problems.

The pressure is on the kicker not the keepers. The keepers are not really expected to make the save but it's great if they do...the kicker is expected to score

My bad my next time I will make sure we look it up
I love you forever my beautiful Italy ,these types of videos make me feel proud of what the italian people are when somebody talk about football

Chiesa is a severely underrated player
fun fact some of the coaches of these national teams used to play for their countries including the French, Spanish, Italian and english coach used to play for the country
The coaches feel so much because in most cases, they have been players before, so they know what is like being on the field.

When a game end in draw (and is an elimination stage, which means a team has to win yes or yes), they go to extra time (2 halves of 15 min), if they are still in a draw, they go to penalty shoot outs. The last Euro Finals were played in a lot of stadiums in Europe because of the covid pandemy

Euro,s takes place every 4 years and is just for Europe national teams. World Cup is next year, can’t wait
So to summarize
-Group stage 8 groups of 4 teams
-8th quarter finals ( knockout rounds)
-Quarter finals (8 teams remain )
-semi finals (4 teams remain)
- the finals 2 teams whoever wins, wins the euro cup or the world cup works the same way depending on the continent like Europe there less groups world cup there are more groups.
They cry because that's the European Championships... every 4th year.... So if you miss that.. oof.
GRANDE LORENZO INSIGNE IL MIGLIORE
damn Bro, there is no such thing as someone who does not experience the world championship at least once as it should be, at the next world championship I want you both here, with my grandmother eating spaghetti and cheering on Italy.
ľ Italy is not just pizza and spaghetti
@@domyconte781506 Fratello italiano, lo so bene, è tanto altro, bello ma anche brutto. Era ironico, e poi ho scritto un commento non un manifesto che danneggia la visione popolare dell'Italia all'estero
He screamed it's coming Rome becuase of all the Engeland fans where singing it's coming home and Rome and home is almost the same you know ( don't know how to say it in english) so as soon as italy won everyone was screaming it's not coming home it's coming Rome as sort of like taking the piss out of the Engeland fans
Glad to see That! Vadym Skylark is underrated!!!
Appreciate you sharing my guy
It's coming rome🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Forza ITALIA🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
The "it's coming to rome" was a reply to when the English was saying "it's coming home" since football is from England
"Some people say football is life. I disagree...It's much more serious than that."
FORZA ITALIA 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
17:13 of the video. When you with your team arrive to a draw after regular 90 mins, and after the 30 mins divide in 15 Min for first and second overtime. Then they're allowed according by football rules to have 5 freekicks, if these five arent enough they continue ti shoot just when One player of this two teams missed the penalty. Then the game Is finish and they assigned the winner to the winner team
In Italy football is like a religion. 7 days a week
e come cazzo godo a mesi di distanza 💙
My guys haven't won a Euro title since 1968. They won world cups since but not a euro...till now baby!!☝️😝🇮🇹 they do get paid just not millions. They get bonuses if they win it all. England invented the game and never won a euro.
