This episode still feels like a punch in the stomach. The greatest story never told was Roger having ALS. It is tragic that the powers that be at guiding light didn't have the courage to tell it. Absolutely shameful 😞
It was an impossible recast and maybe Mr zarlow asked them to respect his privacy and not turn it into a storyline. It was very heart breaking to see him deteriorated to where he couldn't speak anymore.
@@RachelG1979 He was offered a chance to reprise a role he had played more briefly on One Life To Live, his return did include his illness written into his existing character.
@@countrysideacres7017 no it wasn't he wanted to stay he went back to one life to live and you could have shot scenes before it processed if they had wanted that but that sort of conclusion to the Holly and Roger story would have been epic
For a recast, Dennis Parlato is not a bad Roger... however, knowing his arrival came because of little compassion for Michael Zaslow, it puts me off on his portrayal.
Wow, the power of the plain truth. Now, I totall respect Dennis Parlato and have plenty of experience with him from the soaps. But to watch Blake answer the door to THAT Roger, I can only shake my head.
My sentiments exactly. I respect Parlato for taking this on, even under the circumstances... sometimes I try to see him as Roger (which is VERY hard), other times I still see him as Clay Alden.
Toby Poser (Amanda) was woefully underused after like 96.... so fun to watch and beautiful. I feel like they were setting her up as a new Alex and then sidelined with Roger and gone. Shame.
i thought there was something very endearing about amanda and there was also a vulnerability to her that was so relatable and attractive. i believe that had she stayed, she would've won hearts
Alan knew at this point that Eleni was being abused and subsequently coerced into sex with Roger Thorpe AND Alan Michael Spaulding but couldn't face either or bring it up to save his image. Elvis was a patsy for Ross and Alan. it was revenge. Beth wasn't in this season but her clone was being manufactured, her clone appears in the following season. She actually died in the hospital.

The actor playing Roger sounds like a whole new character. No matter what tv show it is, every time there’s a recast the character always changes.

I really liked this Amanda too. I can't believe the show didn't keep her. They didn't need the Vicky character..... They could have just used Amanda
