Way to go Ross. This was payback for the embarrassment she caused him during this case. She made a fool out of him. What irked me the most was the fact that he was so quick to believe Reva was guilty and Annie was innocent. But finally Ross came to his senses and destroyed her on the stand. On another note, if Cynthia didn't win the Emmy for this storyline, it would've been a travesty. No one has deserved an award more than her for the year of 97.
Watros did win the Emmy. I'm a huge AMC fan (Watched that show from 1991-2011) and obviously I rooted for Susan Lucci that year but, having now watched this story for the first time, I concur that Watros deserved the award (plus, Lucci won just a mere year later. I didn't mind waiting! *smile*) I also work in law (paralegal) and understand why Ross recalled her: he knew he could destroy her and also make it easy to convict her of perjury.
"She came back from THE DEAD! How am I supposed to fight that, how am I supposed to compete with that?" 😆😆Cynthia acted the hell out of this scene, I love her.
Hey! Crazy Annie, Reva didn’t PUT Josh through those five years. She was mentally ill. She didn’t TRY to rekindle their love. Their love never died. He was honest with you about his love for her before he knew she was still alive; then he was in denial because he was angry at her. The love was ALWAYS there. Annie didn’t love Josh, she was obsessed with him. Love puts the other person first, the way Reva did with her kids when she married Buzz. Or like Reva was going to do for Josh when she thought her leaving without disturbing her family’s life was the best thing for them because she saw that they were happy and had moved on. Also, Reva wasn’t doing anything to you. Josh was the pursuer. She tried to keep him away. She handed him to you on a silver platter. He came after her. He was always gawking at her. She didn’t have to DO anything but exist and be herself for him to love her. WAIT! Where did Marah go? Josh and Reva are at the trial and they supposedly left her with Michelle, but Michelle is giving a speech at Cedars??? 🤔
@@lorififield593 I totally agree and Matt really tried to get through to him about that. Josh was totally to blame for hurting Annie so bad. I believe that, had Josh’s attitude towards Reva been more controlled and compassionate, had he at least tried to understand where her head was, Marah would have had a better reaction and Reva would not have found it necessary to marry Buzz to make her daughter feel secure.(But then we wouldn’t have gotten to have Buzz and Reva, which was actually a lot of fun to watch for awhile. They were cute together and it was always nice to see Reva with someone who could accept her, flaws and all) I loved how fast Marah came around about Reva so fast. What Josh sometimes failed to remember, was that Reva and Marah had a VERY strong bond and Marah remembered that but I think she was just confused... especially by how Josh reacted. I think she loved Annie, AND Reva but I think she was confused by how Josh reacted. He’d always told her that he loved her mama and missed her, but then when Reva came back, he acted as though he was mad at her for being alive, so maybe she thought she shouldn’t be happy either.
@@lorififield593 Honestly, I think Alan was the reason he was angry with her. I think it wasn’t as much that she was getting ready to leave, I think he would have listened to her about that and tried to understand; but she was running away WITH Alan and he thought she looked happy about that. He failed to see that it was just an act on her part. He was coming around about it on the plane until Alan stuck his nose into it. Same thing on New Year’s Eve, at the ball. After Reva kissed him and then he grabbed her and kissed her back, Josh looked like he was ready to admit he still loved her... then Alan walked in.
@@lorififield593 ok. Since I’m a third generation watcher who’s earliest memories of the show start in the late 70’s, I can help you out here. First, Alan is the one who brought Reva to Springfield. He wanted Vanessa for himself so he hired Reva to break them up. After Josh left Reva when his supposedly dead first wife came back, Reva did what she always did: she put on a red dress and made a spectacle of herself at a ball in front of the whole town. Alan was there to pick up the pieces and, after a few months of friendship, they fell in love. It was during the time of their friendship, that Reva almost died saving Josh from the icy water after Will Jeffries tried to kill him by staging an accident that caused him to fall in the river in the middle of February. Reva was in a coma and, under the guise of protecting Marah from being taken from Reva by Kyle while she was unconscious, he married Reva 🙄. (Josh was also seeking custody, even though he believed he wasn’t her father...Alan did know) Reva, in her state of unconsciousness, thought she was marrying Josh. The marriage was annulled promptly upon Reva’s recovery; but Reva did realize very (soon after that, that she had fallen in love with Alan. They got engaged but never married because she reunited with Josh a few months later. Complicated story) If you’re interested in watching this story arc, it starts late 1987 and goes through early 1989. A lot of it’s missing, but you can get the general idea. If you want to know the Kyle story, that’s from like mid 1985 until November ‘86. Reva hasn’t really had as many lovers (on screen) or husbands as some people make it seem. She’s actually pretty average as far as most soap characters go. She had only five, legal husbands: Billy, H.B., Josh (x3), Buzz, and Jeffrey. She had two others that were not legal: Alan (annulled) and Richard (not legal because she was still married to Josh). She was engaged three other times (to the best of my recollection): Kyle, Alan, and Noah. I also can’t recall her sleeping with anyone that she was not either engaged or married to. She may have had other lovers prior to her coming to Springfield, and it was insinuated that she had, but they never explicitly stated that she had. I always thought she was more of a big flirt or tease that made out with a lot of guys but really only slept with those she loved. Any other questions, I’d be happy to do my best to help. 😃
Annie was crazed and pathetic. She blamed everyone for the situations she elevated to extremes. She epitomized the KARENS of today. Would you really root for someone like her in real life? I hope you wouldn't because let me tell you, she wouldn't reciprocate the sentiment!

Cynthia acted the hell out of this scene. Hell all of her scenes as Annie were great!!!!!
Annie was such a great character and one of the best Villains on Daytime! Ever!
Equal to Roger!
Ross grilled Annie perfectly!

Loved Cynthia Watros. One hell of an actress. And stunningly beautiful
