This was a great song- I was only 7 when this was a big hit on the radio. But I’ve never forgotten it. Brilliant musicians. Judith Durham possibly our best female vocalist ever. 🥰
After just watching the 1964 original and watching this I am stunned how fantastic this is! The 45 year gap is like it never happened. This is so awesome and great feel good music. I love this !!
A great group. Judith always stylish and beautiful with such humour and great voice. Rest well Angel your star shines bright in the sky over Australia, heavens choir now sweeter
God bless gorgeous Judith you could see she was really enjoying herself :) it is fabulous to see a singer so caught up in their 'work' that they actually forget where they are and enjoy themselves :) so what if Judith forgot her cue? So what if Judith forgot the lines? Its her song. The person who called her an 'idiot' needs to remember that performers are human too. It just makes you love dear Judith even more! :) if that's even possible xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Love this version, find it funny that judith misses her cue but it makes the song more enjoyable it's such a catchy tune, love judith and the guys xxxxxx
I'm glad to see this one back on... I've missed it... This is the greastest group in history.... great sound... They all complement each other.... Friends ... with all the recent wild fires the Australian Red Cross has been asking for donations... lets give a hand... 25 Australian dollars is only $16.25 US dollars... Ron TN USA
Barry H. , I wish the Seekers were able to perform here in the USA as they have in Australia, England, and other places. Had they so performed live here in the USA, their popularity would have been at least as great as anywhere they have ever performed. Yet I am grateful that their music will live hopefully forever for future generations to discover and enjoy. TH-cam has been a great help in doing so.
By the way...she also misses the final lyric after Athol asks the musical "Why". Watch Athol, his mouth opens wide as she forgets the answer to that question!!! Great stuff and good fun.
U may say professionals don’t make mistakes (which is a fallacy anyway) but cool as a cucumber, just laughed it off. BUT the real professional is how easily she recovered
Judith was the greatest singer of all times and when she came in after missing the point she again showed off the upper range of her stunningly beautiful voice. Anything she did on stage reached the limits of perfection.
I'm not sure why you would leave London to make it big in Australia, since it seems as if London would be a bigger market in the 1960s, during this group's heydey. Anyway, I believe this group was always from Australia, but that is something you could check on by doing an Internet search on "The Seekers".
They left Melbourne, Australia in 1964 to try their luck in England ...... they never expected any success, just to let people there hear their music ..... Judith Durham only had her summer dress with her , they only expected to be there 10 weeks ..... but she had to send home for more clothes because the UK fell in love with them bigtime, and it wasn't long before other countries followed suit ...... before long they were toppling the Beatles, Tom Jones, and the Rolling Stones from the top of the UK Charts.
Not necessarily prostitution. Seeing as how this was set during the luau scene in "Seekers Down Under", it almost certainly draws upon the Hawaiian tradition of "Boat Day", when the Matson liners ("Big White Ship!") would pull in carrying their cargoes of tourists from the States. Native Hawaiians, especially youngsters, would go down to the dock in Honolulu harbor to earn "throw money" by performing for the tourists...hulas, diving for tossed coins, etc. Of course you can be properly P.C. and shocked by this display of colonial mores and exploitation, but by the standards of the day it was regarded as innocent fun by both sides. And the youngsters came away with some spending money!
@@ericbowen650 Wow, thanks so much for this in-depth reply to my throwaway line! I love learning historical details like this. I had no idea of this tradition, and in my ignorance drew a rather too obvious conclusion. Thank you for sharing your knowledge :-)
proinsiaspad No, they sailed on a cruise ship from Australia in early 1964 to merely play as the Folk/Rock band for 10 weeks, reached London & hooked up with Tom Springfield. He wrote & produced I'll Never Find Another You, recorded at Abbey Rd Studios in November 1964 & became the first number 1 hit in February 1965.
Let's get a million views for this special lady and her friends
This is a fantastic concert

good morning my friend muffs i remember the 1964 this sound better too
She's such a sweetheart!
That's how a professional singer handles an "oops". She had a laugh and went right on. Nicely done, Ms. Durham!
A great group. Judith always stylish and beautiful with such humour and great voice. Rest well Angel your star shines bright in the sky over Australia, heavens choir now sweeter
Lol, what a sweetheart! ♥️
It's called FUN, remember when we were actually having fun! Now its 1984
We need more
Individually, they're each amazing. Judith is likely the greatest female pop singer in the world. Together, they're something rare indeed...
Great song I’ve still got a 25th anniversary tea towel that I got
Love it glorious music
I never saw that before where she stopped singing. Loved it,,
That's awesome that you got to see them in person. I'm so jealous!
Lovely song and great to see the Seekers again Thanks for sharing it with us.
Great song..Judith funny in it.

Such a fun video! Showcases Judith' showmanship and her charming personality in a beautiful manner! I just adore her and the Boys. None better!
fantastic !
Wonderful Judith. None Bettr.
Thanks.
Sweet moment!
Love it!
This was recorded at QPAC in Brisbane during 25th anniversary concerts. I know this because I was there & it was GREAT!!!
No it was actually at the melbourne concert hall
The "Myra you're supposed to be singing now" blooper was actually PLANNED and they did it at every concert!
A song that they don't appear to be taking too seriously ... but nevertheless a very catchy song brilliantly delivered.
Love this version, find it funny that judith misses her cue but it makes the song more enjoyable it's such a catchy tune, love judith and the guys xxxxxx

great!!!! wish we had a group like the seekers in holland............
The ONLY country on Earth that has a group like the Seekers is Australia!

I like this performance. It's funny and unrehearsed. And Judith did say in her book that she was not a particularly good dancer. ;-)
Adorei!
I love Judith Durham, but I wish Athol Guy would sing lead more often.
King!
By the way...she also misses the final lyric after Athol asks the musical "Why". Watch Athol, his mouth opens wide as she forgets the answer to that question!!! Great stuff and good fun.
Hey, I can't even remember what I said - and who the hell deleted my comment?
The Seekers are great band and one of my favorites.
You can definitely tell that they were having fun singing this, despite the "oops!" moment by Judith.

Danny Boy, Myra, Children Go Where I Send Thee. Is there anything Judith cannot sing?
Stairway! She could actually, but Jimmy won't play it anymore!

The cutest song ever about prostitution.

Pete Parry Their music transends generations!
Hey!!! That's my name :P

Maybe you're thinking of the Easybeats....
So this song is about a girl going down to the harbour to "make a dollar" from the sailors? Hmm...
U
I'm too young to know this band but are'nt they a bunch of Pommies who came over from London to make it big in Australia?
