Excellent guide thanks for doing this. Personally I'm an everyday mister. I have a large pump mister that gets the job done easily.
Hi Kentosi - if you're on it enough to keep them hydrated, then that's great - especially for ones prone to base rot like T. xerographica and streptophylla - it's a lot safer. Large pump mister? I like it! And you're giving me ideas about putting my pressure washer to work - just have to back up 6 feet to mist! 😅
Hello again! I need your advice. what can dark brown spots on leaves mean? I think it could be from too much water?
Hi! I've honestly never seen that on a tillandsia but I just cut off a bunch of dark brown spotted fern fronds last night and they were definitely from too much water. Usually I see brown at the base where water gets trapped - now I only water xerographicas upside down to prevent base rot.

I bought my giant air plant (Tillandsia fasciculata) when it had a stem and a pup at the top. I hung it on my window using the pup as a sort of "hook" for the past few months. I thought I only needed to water it once a month, since that's what most online research told me. I haven't been able to find any photos online of any air plant similar to mine. It's got about a foot and a half long firm, green stem shooting straight out of the base of the mother plant, and a pup growing at the top. Lately the mother plant on the bottom has been dying, and I've only started watering it enough now that I did some more research. Is there any advice anyone could give me ? I'm so lost and can't find anything online even REMOTELY similar-looking to the air plant I have. Thanks!!
Hi. If you have a pup, then the mother plant will die. It may take a year or more, but its on its way out. That's why I hesitate to force my air plants to flower. It s pretty but it means the plant will eventually die.
Do air plants move on their own? I just got one the other day not knowing anything about it and I put it in the pot next to my aloe which is in soil and sand. I didn't pot it I just sat it in there and I swear it dug itself into the sand and it looks like it moved closer to the aloe plant. I am so weirded out by this plant.
Hi Dawn Marie! Air plants don't move on their own except the roots can attach to surfaces over time. But who knows? Maybe your little air plant was feeling lonely and wanted to cozy up next to the aloe. 😊

Hi - absolutely! I often leave mine for 2 weeks without rinsing them in the sink. Make it easy on yourself. :)

@@anastasiabierylo9060 Just have fun with them - they're more forgiving than you think (except don't get water in the bases of xerographicas - they will rot). 😁
