someone told me they accidentally edited 2 different takes into the one scene and i can never get that out of my head. sounds like totally different reads hahahah
I went to high school with them in Evanston Illinois. Their families are very close, as the parents went to Northwestern in Evanston, where Meghan Markle went to school. Yeah, they were very close.
This scene cracks me up every time I see it I think about garden city long island . But the last Christmas I went to country press to visit someone I was tripping on acid. They probably think I lost my mind.
Jeremy Piven seems like essential part of a quintessential John Cusack comedy. Okay, I exaggerate. Better Off Dead is a quintessential Cusack comedy, and Piven is not in that movie at all. Nor is he in A Sure Thing. But seeing him here with Cusack does make it feel more of a high school reunion comedy. However, characters like the one Piven is playing here do seem to turn up a lot in Cusack comedies, even if play by different actors.
i never really understand the pot reference in this movie. he casually lights up a j here then he goes to his locker to tear up what looked like an old one there
Its funny, its never covered, but alot of mental heath is about being honest with yourself and others. Cause lies cause problems. So he lies to no one about what hes been up too, and not a single person believes him.
The point is: it amuses him, in a dark way. It's a given that no one will ever believe you. I used the line "uhm, professional killer" quite a few times, at parties and clubs. :)
10 years after grad you still care with things to prove. 20 years after you still go to it, but you force yourself to really care. 30 year reunion...as if! No thanks. Who are you people.
A 20 year old masterpiece that stands as a benchmark for any modern dark comedy.
they just don't make these kinds of movies any longer 😞
@@deeperinsider2544yes they do and there’s also only a couple movies like this from back then
@@Butterratbee Very Bad Things. :)
Yet still doesn't come even near that masterpiece...
You know the funny thing? This video has been published 10 years ago. 10 YEARS, MAN!
This film should win an award for the best soundtrack!
Yes
The guy who did the soundtrack was from the clash
The best time for music , 80s .
Joe strummer selected
I love how Martin is upfront with everyone, telling them he's a professional hitman and everyone just assumes he's joking.
and each time he tells it he goes more and more into it
But also, everyone who finds out he's telling the truth feels betrayed,
'Kinda crept up on you didn't it?'
'No, you drove us here'
My favorite part is John Cusak and Jeremy Piven laughing together. Lightens the mood a bit.
"... she's like a biscuit older than me ..." LOFL. The writing in this was *BRILLIANT* !!!
Marty! Where are you?!
Budapest!
Ah. City of Cathredals...
This video was posted 10 years ago , 10! .....10 Years!!!

"Wow! Thank you for profiting on my childhood." LMFAO

This film still resonates and engages 20-something years later. Congrats to all involved.
Just watched this for like the tenth time yesterday. Timeless.
Haven't seen it for a while, but when it came out on DVD, I must have watched it liked 20 times. :) Still know most of the dialogue by heart...

Holy shit. And then deciding to go ahead and use them both anyway is somehow a hilarious stroke of genius.
I noticed that when I first watched. I'm kinda glad they did, it's unique, I like it
2 of my all time favorite actors.
God, what an underrated film.
You can tell they've been friends since they were kids.
I went to high school with them in Evanston Illinois. Their families are very close, as the parents went to Northwestern in Evanston, where Meghan Markle went to school.

“No, it’s an open market.”

Jeeemy Priven is an excellent comic support actor!
this scene was hiLARRRRious. such a beautiful "non-sequitor" point to have a joint goin' all random and shit ~ Jeremy Piven kills me!
Jeremy Piven looks like a skinny Kevin James. lmao 😂
love this movie. up there with In Bruges for best dark comedy ever
John Cusack I thought I was a screen shot!? Info,....... Or ? A real ah state agent.
I like the part where he says 10 years.
Paul is a wonderful realator.
"yeah Marv, where ya been?"
This is us breathing.
LLLOOOOOOOYYYDDD!!!!
ahahhahaha
John Cusack is a OG nigga bruh lmaooo
🤘💯
And you can tell that's a real joint, check out Piven's eyes.
After I saw this movie, I got a lawyer and sued my guidance counselor. I was told you needed a Ph d to be a professional killer.
For starters: slaughterhouses are always hiring...
Jeremy Piven would be a good backup for Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man.
Ari Gold
i can't believe you didn't rate it X^D

i never really understand the pot reference in this movie. he casually lights up a j here then he goes to his locker to tear up what looked like an old one there
The one in the car wasn't his and he wasn't smoking it.
Kinda crept up on you didnt it
Man I used to like John .
"I think you're overreacting..."

Jeremy Pivens is a Very little man but a Big Creep!!! John doesn't even talk to him anymore.
