there's this little circle of things, Berserk, Susumu and Dark Souls, that just lead into one another. Something about all of it is precious to me, in a way that no other story, singer or game is its kinda impossible to listen to any paprika ost without just enjoying it, no matter what mood you're in, it just pulls you along
If Satoshi would have been alive, he would have broken all the barriers of possibilities in film making by now. According to me, he was the most creative director to have ever live in the world. his loss was definitely the biggest hit in the overall film industry.
I just saw Paprika for the first time a couple hours ago, first of his works, and I found myself immediately googling the man I'd heard about and looking up the soundtrack "wait, this one was his last work? in 2006?" and then I saw his death date in 2010, such a shame honestly because I agree he would've went on to create more things like this and it's definitely art that's unique and special in a way I can't quite describe, but I'd have loved to have seen more of his later work. I'll definitely be checking out the stuff he did before this

I speak both a quasi-Haiphongese and a quasi-Saigonese accent, and I'd say this is more of a traditional Saigonese one, what with the slight Northern bent to it.
my dad is a big fan of satoshi kon and psychological horror anime or at least used to be, and used to play this track often in the car when i was a kid. earliest i can remember hearing it i was maybe 6 or 7. i watched paprika at 13 despite my dad telling me not to until i was at least 16, now at almost 20 it is still one of my favorite movies and this song remains embedded in my heart
I can respect telling someone to wait a bit to watch something, he was probably not saying this from the psych horror perspective. There are a lot of movies which take a whole other tone after some life experience. For example, the parade scene of this movie really hits different after being in the workforce a few years.

It left an impression so strong I (strongly) feel I may have completely different perception of Inception if only I watch this beforehand. Just that great. i cant explain why, but this song fills me up with so much emotion from the second i start to listen to it. i feel such an overwhelming urge to cry, and i cant tell if its happy or sad. i havent seen this movie in a long time, and im still persuaded by this song so much somehow
I completely understand...it's like nostalgia, but you have no idea where it is coming from. Feeling happy and sad all at the same time. As soon as this particular version of the song plays at the last frame of the movie I just stand there for a minute.....dumbstruck....
This is a classic example of why I've said no to streaming services: i want to own things. I don't want to have access to things at the whims of large companies. I've canceled all my services, started buying things on DVD / BluRay, and donwloading songs / videos off TH-cam.

If we're being quite honest, susumu is one of the greatest composers ever I mean the effect his music has is so powerful even if it's describing an emotion that doesn't quite have a name and this song especially is beautiful as heck

I recently read a comment on a previous soundtrack compilation where someone said that the better the movie is, the less someone would notice the soundtrack. This person felt that a soundtrack that was too good was too noticeable and actually took away from the overall enjoyment of the film. I felt this was a very silly comment. Does anyone think that this killer music took away from their enjoyment of this film, or added to it?
Instead of a straightforward answer I'll just give examples ;) Interstellar: As a whole there's a lot of things wrong with the movie. The soundtrack and visuals are so stunning that I still call it one of my favorites. The Rain Machine Gun Scene in "Road to Perdition": I won't tell you what happens in that scene in case you haven't seen it, but it the silencing of sound effects and hearing only the soundtrack punches you in the gut. The Radio music in Kiki's Delivery Service: Symbolizes her whimsical personality. Space Odyssey 2001: Duh. Finally, studies show that an audience will put up with "bad" or low-tech visuals (think found-footage films) over low-tech sound. Low-tech sound is the biggest turn-off for most movie goers. This includes music. I can honestly think of well over a hundred examples, but you get the idea. That dudes just straight up wrong though.
The song is so emotional that i always start crying whenever i hear it. It sounds very dreamy, nostalgic, happy and sad at the same time. That emotinal note in the chorus touches my heart and my soul every time. It's so amazing that the combination of istrumentals, voices and melody really can speak to you even if you don't understand the lyrics. The beautiful power of music❤

Susumu Hirasawa is hands down one of my favorite composers. If Berserk ever gets the adaptation it deserves, I hope he comes back to work on the soundtrack.
The whole movie was very philosophical Taoist to me... the impossibility of resolving 陰 (yin) and 陽 (yang), and how they are constantly contradicting, creating, defining, and complementing one another in a never-ending shifting cycle.
Probably my most favorite animated movie of all time. Satoshi Kon was a man I still look up to though he is sadly gone from this world but his legacy still lives on and makes a greater impact on the newer generations. An absolute creative and inspiring man. Thank you Satoshi for helping me go through hell throughout my depressing and painful years and thank you for being the one to help me carve my way towards an animation career.
The Girl in Byakoyya, we all know who she is. Those who's eyes are open seek her and this song describes this meeting. This meeting is an other worldly goal that transcends this current illusion. The strange feeling you feel is an invitation from her that rises deep within you soul. Will you heed her call? To this grand meeting?

Just watched Paprika for the first time. Out of a whim, and I always sorta knew that this movie was a massive benchmark in the anime community but never thought anything of it. Now that this might have inspired inception is amazing. I love inception to death. And to experience this incredible piece of Art, maybe i should've watched Early.

I got this on blu Ray months and months ago. I took some mushrooms and watched it finally last night. Oh my god, what an amazing experience. I'll keep this in a safe place, and share it with someone special the next time I see it.
My story with this song is strange and magical. At first I was only listening to Parade that i kept in a loop, again, again and again. And sometimes, the loop breaks without me noticing and youtube play the next recommended song. it was this one. But I didn't really listen to it, I was focused on my work at that time. One day while going to work, I was singing this song without knowing what this song is. I didn't remember having listening it in my life, I didn't know the name of this song (I never watched Paprika but I plan to do it). So I was singing and was wondering while I sing it, there was all the instrument in my mind, the guitar, the lyrics, the tune, everything was in my mind. One day, I knew it was some Susumu Hirasawa's work. So I searched in all his songs and finally found it. It was the second time in my life I listened to this song. But it felt like I was looking for since my childhood. That's strange, and each time I listen to this, I feel in peace. There's a lot of things that piss me or just preoccupy me. But while listening to this, I still think of this things but this time like I just watch this, without judgement or hate about it.

man susumu hirasawa is such a good artist. i remember listening to his album kyuusai no gihou and it was kind of a niche thing (i thought at the time since it wasnt on spotify), i then listening to guts's theme and realized that he was the one who made that song and how popular it was and how he made the paprika soundtrack.

For me, two of my favorite music videos that I watched regularly were yanked from TH-cam, so now I download everything I like on here using youtube-dl so I have it always available. I've had it happen multiple times now when I was watching a series on a streaming service and it just vanished off the service only to appear on yet another one, and there are so many now that you could probably pay for 15 of them and still not get access to everything you want.

This song makes me feel like there's a nice and comforting place that's waiting for me when I die.
I recently read a comment on a previous soundtrack compilation where someone said that the better the movie is, the less someone would notice the soundtrack. This person felt that a soundtrack that was too good was too noticeable and actually took away from the overall enjoyment of the film. I felt this was a very silly comment. Does anyone think that this killer music took away from their enjoyment of this film, or added to it?

Interstellar: As a whole there's a lot of things wrong with the movie. The soundtrack and visuals are so stunning that I still call it one of my favorites.
The Rain Machine Gun Scene in "Road to Perdition": I won't tell you what happens in that scene in case you haven't seen it, but it the silencing of sound effects and hearing only the soundtrack punches you in the gut.
The Radio music in Kiki's Delivery Service: Symbolizes her whimsical personality.
Space Odyssey 2001: Duh.
Finally, studies show that an audience will put up with "bad" or low-tech visuals (think found-footage films) over low-tech sound. Low-tech sound is the biggest turn-off for most movie goers. This includes music.
I can honestly think of well over a hundred examples, but you get the idea. That dudes just straight up wrong though.

That emotinal note in the chorus touches my heart and my soul every time. Susumu Hirasawa is hands down one of my favorite composers. If Berserk ever gets the adaptation it deserves, I hope he comes back to work on the soundtrack.
To me, this song sounds like the pure euphoria and simultaneous dread that life can be.
The whole movie was very philosophical Taoist to me... the impossibility of resolving 陰 (yin) and 陽 (yang), and how they are constantly contradicting, creating, defining, and complementing one another in a never-ending shifting cycle.

Probably my most favorite animated movie of all time. Satoshi Kon was a man I still look up to though he is sadly gone from this world but his legacy still lives on and makes a greater impact on the newer generations. An absolute creative and inspiring man. Thank you Satoshi for helping me go through hell throughout my depressing and painful years and thank you for being the one to help me carve my way towards an animation career.

My story with this song is strange and magical. At first I was only listening to Parade that i kept in a loop, again, again and again. And sometimes, the loop breaks without me noticing and youtube play the next recommended song. it was this one. But I didn't really listen to it, I was focused on my work at that time.
One day while going to work, I was singing this song without knowing what this song is. I didn't remember having listening it in my life, I didn't know the name of this song (I never watched Paprika but I plan to do it). So I was singing and was wondering while I sing it, there was all the instrument in my mind, the guitar, the lyrics, the tune, everything was in my mind. One day, I knew it was some Susumu Hirasawa's work. So I searched in all his songs and finally found it. It was the second time in my life I listened to this song. But it felt like I was looking for since my childhood. That's strange, and each time I listen to this, I feel in peace. There's a lot of things that piss me or just preoccupy me. But while listening to this, I still think of this things but this time like I just watch this, without judgement or hate about it.

man susumu hirasawa is such a good artist. i remember listening to his album kyuusai no gihou and it was kind of a niche thing (i thought at the time since it wasnt on spotify), i then listening to guts's theme and realized that he was the one who made that song and how popular it was and how he made the paprika soundtrack.
