I think if you wear a full skirt you should do a short veil whereas the long veil-like cathedral/chapel is more suitable for sheath/Mermaid/trumpet/fit and flare like dresses. I think full skirts and long veils are a little too cluttery.

Thank you so much! Would you be willing to show options on a simple/plain dress? My dress is really plain and I’m thinking of doing a super embroidered veil but I’m afraid the contrast will be jarring.
100% do a detailed veil with it. Go in-store try options on with your dress. Take photos and make your selection! It will look unreal and highly recommend a detailed veil with a simple/plain dress!

It’s been so hard to try on veils- I don’t love the ones at my bridal shop, they’re all very minimalist/traditional (or lacy, which isn’t my personal vibe) and all the veils I see online are final sale so you can’t try a bunch on and see what you think. But your vote of confidence really really really helps, I trust you!
@@juliadeiuliis4043 makes perfect sense! Are there other stores in your area? Perhaps another store with more veil selection can put you in a similar dress to yours that way you’re able to shop more veil selection in person. 😊

Our choices match so much! I prefer raw, very long veils and simple plain fit & flare dresses with a sweetheart neckline. Short veils look funny to me, I feel like something is missing or I am reminded of nuns and fathers (the cloth around their collars). 😁 Long veils look so elegant and grand, they also make you look especially beautiful and mysterious. I suggest all brides go for long veils.

We’re not getting engaged till about haft way though pre-marital counseling. We are going to see about getting married in the church he grew up in. His mom passed of cancer in 19 and I want to get married there cause she had so much to do with their church I feel it would be like having a part of her there for him. We’re considering a longer engagement. No masks at our wedding.

I’m a Bridal hairstylist, I had a Pakistan British Bride.
On the trial she said she’ll have fresh flowers and veil when I asked what kind of a veil she said just a normal veil little as I knew on the wedding morning the fresh comb had 8 huge roses and was so heavy it was impossible to put it in I was bullied in to do it and somehow I did and at the end when her dress was on she gave me her veil to fit in… the veil was so heavy I didn’t know such heavy veils excited. Somehow I managed but I did say to her that I’m so scared as the hairstyle she chose was soft and airy. Not the right fir such a veil.
I did say please phone as I knew this won’t be good. Of course it didn’t go well when she took out the veil the low bun was all pulled down … she blames of course me and I’m not getting paid.
How could I know that such heavy veils exist , what is the normal weight for the average veil?

Hi Beckie! Thank you for your comment! This is exactly why I recommend trying on veils in-store with your dress so you are able to see the veil and dress styled together. It will make this process SO much easier! Another thing I'd like you to keep in mind is that veils and dresses do not need to be a 100% match in design and color. They just need to compliment one another nicely! Hope that makes sense and let me know if anything else is needed.

My dress has a gorgeous train that I don't want the veil to cover in any way, but I'm worried about the interruption since I will have crystal edging on the veil. My bridal shop does not have appointments until end of Aug, but would love to research early!!
Hi Sherry! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I would honestly wait until you see your dress in person and are able to try on all veils options. Make sure someone takes a photo from the back of your dress so you're able to see how you like your options in person and in the photo at the same time. Be sure you stay in your dress/veil while looking at the photo of you because you want to compare how you feel in the veil and also how to photograph at the exact same time to avoid buyer's remorse. 😊
My head piece had pearls but the veil was plain. My mother added pearls scattered on the veil layers to match the head piece.

What's the length of the last veil? It looks Cathedral, I love it! I got a veil from a designer and it's Cathedral, but it's not that long, only 108".
Hi Yulissa, not sure of the exact measurement on that specific veil however a cathedral veil ranges from 100-130"
Hey Nayri! I’m having trouble finding the right veil for my dress. Is there anyway you can do a video on how to pick one with certain dress styles. Mine is a ruffled bottom mermaid/trumpet and I feel like it was just too much.

Do you think a birdcage veil would work with a trumpet dress? I know you said that you dislike a short veil but I don't want to deal with something fussy like a long veil and my dress is quite embellished and I think anything too big would just be overpowering.
Birdcage veil is in a category of it’s own in my eyes. When I mention short veil in this video I’m referring to a fingertip length. A birdcage veil is an iconic fashion moment. We just don’t have any in-store at the moment. I say go for it!!! 🤍

Do you have any tips for sitting down during the ceremony with the veil? Are you meant to drape it to the side ?
Putting it to the side and not sitting on it is ideal. Most brides take it off for dinner and dancing. There are no rules here, so do what feels the most comfortable and natural to you the day of. My advice is to not sit on it, so it doesn't wrinkle. Hope this helps and let me know if anything else is needed.

I am getting married on the beach in Mexico and would really like to wear a cathedral veil for the drama although I am worried about the wind blowing it everywhere. Do cathedral veils work for beach weddings too?
Hi Gab! I have had lots of brides wear a cathedral veil for beach weddings! The wind can always be an issue for any outdoor wedding. So long as you have bridesmaids on duty, it's actually easier for them to gently put their foot on a cathedral veil to stop it from blowing verses a short veil. They aren't able to help you control a short veil with the wind. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I would recommend exactly what I say in this video. I would always go long as it does not interrupt the design of the dress. Since your dress is simple in terms of the design of the veil.... the sky is the limit. Anything will work and it becomes your personal preference.

It is absolutely possible and I recommend your veil to be longer than your dress because it adds more drama in photos.

How wide is that veil?
I'm 5'0 and I feel like a long veil would swallow me and make me look like a little girl trying on her mom's dress 😅 do you think it would? I was thinking about a veil that would land just under my butt to avoid that harsh cutoff. No one (hopefully) will be looking that closely there.

Hello! I highly recommend trying all the different lengths on. See how you feel/look in the mirror and take photos to see how it photographs. Sometimes it feels like a lot in person at first because it's something new you are trying on. The photos may change your mind about how you feel about it in person. Trying everything on and taking into consideration all the components you'll be able to make a knowledgeable decision.
