Please make a Panda Top 10 Fighting Games List! Base it only on what you guys think actually has the best gameplay and functionality, regardless of popularity or legacy. I want to see your honest opinions.
Exactly, we need a list that, unlike Watchmojo and IGN, knows what they're talking about. Just don't limit it to 10 games, include as many as you need.
I would absolutely bump something out of here for Soul Calibur II. The series may not be the best fighting game franchise, but SCII CRUSHED it back in the day.
I agree max looks at more than just, "what's my favorite style of fighting game. Now pick 10 games just like it" if jiyuna made a list it'd just be 10 anime air dashers
I feel for all these games you can make a pretty easy reason as for why they're here: MK9 - was the return of Mortal Kombat, rise of NRS and filled in the desire for single player content in fighting games Skullgirls - made a huge impact on the indie scene for fighting games during a time it was mostly big developers making them VF5 Ultimate Shodown - honestly they could put any VF and it'd be ok, it's Virtua Fighter. Killer Instinct - laid out the mold of how fighting games would be handled today; seasons, downloadable characters, possible F2P but that's another story UMVC3 - the most fun modern MVC game that allows for crazy freedom and player expression. MVC2 fits that also but 3 works. KOF 13 - amazing visuals and tough to master gameplay that rewards the dedicated players DBFZ - it's Dragon Ball and it's a 3v3 2D fighter. Nuff said. Tekken 7 - took all the best parts of Tekkens legacy history and greatly rewarded legacy skill while making it fun for even new players. Also the most hype fighting game to watch IMO. GG Strive - everything Jiyuna said Third Strike - it's Third Strike. Moment 37 and so many more.
Why is everybody incapable of reading their criteria before critiquing it. They say plainly top 10 best fighter for playing in the modern day. "Playing in the modern day" That's a big deal. That's why Tekken 3 isn't in the list, yeah it's got a lot of modes and is timeless, but as a game, you couldn't realistically play it for very long today. Same story with SC2. Third Strike plays just as well today alongside other fighters in terms of mechanics as any other fighter, looks just as good too.
Umm, shouldn't that be the sole criteria of what makes a game great? (THE GAMEPLAY!) God, I hate this generation. "Hey, this game is great because of the popularity." STUPID! "Hey, this music album is great beacuse it sold a bunch of copies." STUPID! "Hey, this movie is great because it broke box office records." STUPID! Moral of the story: Quality over quantity.

many people didn't understand 3rd strike 1) it didnt almost killed the franchise, the fall of coin-op game centre killed off arcade games in general, 3rd strike was born at the wrong time. 2) it was massive in japan, it had been the centre stage game for co-operation cup for many years, which then became SBO(super battle opera) , and took over by EVO 3) the west didnt know how to play it because they dont understand the risk/reward of parrying, thats until Daigo showed the west how it should have been played. 4) it is hated by many of the modern FGC, because there is no safe poke strings, and that is what the modern FGC main mentality. in 3rd strike, as soon as you spam the same moves over and over, you get red parried and lose 50% health, and thats is not fun for little cry baby kids.
I think IGN was just catering to the Fans here. So many other games in each franchise that excels over each one. Though I must say I definitely didn't expect Strive to be on the list and that high up honestly. Reason being is the Guilty Gear series in a whole has always been notoriously known to attract certain players
Why 3rd Strike I think deserves number one: it's basically an incredibly clean and amazing *feeling* iteration of what is essentially the Shoto of fighting games, with just enough added flair and feel added through the parries to elevate it without losing any of the purity of what makes the series great. As someone who hops between fighting games a lot it's pretty incredible how a 3S match against even an inexperienced or rusty player can get extremely spicy and dynamic if you're bold with the parries. Some of the slickest shit i've ever pulled off in fighting games has been in totally off the cuff moments after catching the opponent and sometimes myself off guard with a good parry sequence. It's just like a classic album. Yeah you could try and break down and objectively quantify some sort of analysis of why it's one of/the best. But realistically it's gonna boil down to a foundation of solid artisanship (which 3S totally had) and then an end product that just sounds (or in this case feels) fucking *good* to many people again and again throughout the years.
Honestly surprised how much I didn't hate this list, fair play IGN. I'd prob include CVS2 in there before Skullgirls, but still not mad at it. Also, the lack of Soulcalibur is kinda criminal

Alpha 3 imo
@@mitzi3262 One killed fighting Games. The other revived the Genre. This isn’t even a real debate. SF4 created more FGC than any other modern fighting game.
Nah, sorry, but having MK at almost the bottom of the lists when they have constantly approved gameplay, mechanics, DLC's & etc. Nope, this list is BS! Also, VF opened the 3D era for fighting games, and they rated below Tekken...???
Improved NRS is still stiff as hell and don't even start on the netcode
Net code isn’t bad for MK. If you want bad net code see smash ultimate. ( no disrespect smash players). There’s others that had it worse
Mk gameplay has always being ass lol it only sells due the gore. And VF is dead and not accessible for modern gaming.
Did he just say DBFZ over MVC?! You wouldn’t even have that game if not for MVC, nah I don’t know how to feel bout you bro lol. To each their own tho 🤷🏽♂️
Tekken 7 is definitely not the best game in the series. Tekken 5 and Tekken 6 were far better products.
Tekken 5 maybe. 6? Hell no. Lol
@@TonyJenn Tekken 6 was super solid. Best customization in the series to date. A great beat-em-up mode with loot drops and co-op matchmaking. Beautiful stages. Great soundtracks. An incredible roster (I miss Raven). CG endings and so many game modes that T7 lacks. It was undoubtedly a better product than Tekken 7.
