Viewers might wanna let Smug know. The reason the game is running so choppy is that Flycast doesn't automatically limit refresh rate to 60hz like FBNeo does. You need to manually set an FPS limit of 60 FPS in the Nvidia Control Panel (under programs) for Flycast. Otherwise, the rollback netcode freaks out, and the matches skip frames really badly like this on any monitor higher than 60hz. They're supposed to fix this in the next big update, but until then, you gotta use this workaround.
I was at EVO2022, mostly in the BYOS section and had the privilege of watching a ton of BAS' matches in CVS2, Alpha 2, Alpha 3, ST, etc. Jon Choi as well, it was amazing to see these legends in person 🤘🏿
Choi unfortunately got DQed from CvS2 due to some miscommunication with the TOs (he was playing his match for another VG game being run and missed the call for his CvS2 match).

BAS is probably the overall best CvS2 but John Choi honestly is on the same level. John Choi still the only player to win 2 Evo titles in the same year and one was CvS2 over BAS.
Bas taken many games off of choi as the years have gone by, bas wins at least 2/3 of the time and choi would probably freely say bas is better than him. That's just the way it is.
The fact thag you beat him and you force BAS to use him Main Team (Yamazaki, Blanka, M.Bison) means he respects your game and wants to show what's up. Fundamentals are already there but you really need to know the nuances of each of the 6 System in the game so it won't be abused by your opponent. Maybe in a year or 2 you'll get used to it especially perfecting your A-GROOVE Custom Combos...👌👌😀

When BAS broke your guard doing Iori's dp custom combo, you could have used A-ism's "Counter Attack" (i.e. guard cancel) ability to escape. You should try it out.
Late response but yeah you can alpha counter in that situation, however they can roll out mid blockstring to catch and punish alpha counters. Everyone has their own alpha counter move and Boxer has his head butt for it. -12 on block if they are close so better do it right at the start of the string or hold the chip damage.

N-Groove was and will always be my favorite because it has so many fun/interesting tools for every scenario. A lot of movement & evasive tools to make the character hella slippery and unpredictable!

I never seen bas play but I knew once I saw certain characters on his team , he was going to win. Iori, geese, rolento, and Yamazaki . Always had issues fighting the last guy. Knowing the fundamentals with Rolento will destroy a person's defense

Yeah he could try it someday. It's very interesting to see him trying an old fg. From what I've seen, young SF players being so open to try different old fgs is rare.
This CvS2 version is so good with the jumping rolling kick special, the standing spin kicks special and the rolling special, and the f+hk looks more like SF3 than SFA3 (faster). So it takes a bit of ST, SFA and SF3. I always wanted SF4 or 5 to have built Ken over that version instead.
shoulda heard that "OWATTA" against Geese in that first match had a level 3 and he was whiffing on ya, hated missing my supers in that game, but it was the most fun i had in a fighting game besides getting introduced to GGXX. Vega was an interesting choice against those guys , I woulda guessed Haomaru in the middle , he does so much dmg to level 1 heroes and can cheese level 2's for the 3rd round advantage.
