All drone shows I have watched had some fall out of the sky. None of the shows seated people below them either... Don't go to a show that flies over you!

That’s so very sad. That poor boy. Can you imagine just going to a Christmas event and then your 6-year old child ends up in the hospital and might die and needs life saving care? The company needs to be held accountable, and the city of Orlando for not making sure that company followed appropriate safety measures.
This is the first time I’ve heard of drones failing. Just like anything flying accidents can happen. It should be regulated to keep any audience at a distance watching drone performances. Signal interruption, battery failure, even a program glitch, could cause devastation.
Someone or something made them malfunction intentionally or there is some anomaly in the sky right there that caused this to happen. This doesn't happen like this on its own. I bet the owner of the company feels horrible about this.

Has anybody seen the Skinwalker Ranch episode where they send up a group of drones in formation and little by little they start to lose drones. Some drift, some collapse to the ground and the rest auto pre emptively land.
While drone formations using just GPS may drift, for Air Show Drones they will typically use RTK (Real-time kinematic positioning) which is much more accurate than regular GPS which allows drones to fly very close to each other in formation. Looking forward to finding out what happened to make so many drones go out of control at the same time and not just falling, but some were flying sideways at a high rate of speed (@ 1:31)

I actually saw a Fourth of July light show all done with drones and it was absolutely beautiful. They did things that no fireworks ever could have done. FAA Part 107 certificated remote pilot and Lead Pilot for a Fire Company Diving-Rescue Unit here. Drone shows can be great and are generally safe. While drones do sometimes fall from the sky, they generally just fall right to the ground. That's not a problem, typically, as the drone shows are not usually over people. They are generally held over water or larger fields/woods where the crowds are a fair distance away. It looked like these drones may have been over people, but really hard to verify. We will find that info in the FAA report. That said, the other videos I saw (posted on X) of the drones coming out at all kinds of angles, at high speed, is not typical at all. I am very curious to see what caused this to happen. Sending positive thoughts and well wishes to the injured boy. Hope he recovers fully.

They don't do these shows over people. If you look at the video closely, many of those drones don't just fall, they take off like a bad out of hell. Without really knowing anything other than what I can see in the video, I suspect that the system may have been hacked or somebody may have used a jammer to cause the incident.
FAA re authorization act is supposed to be renewed on December 31st, and they have added aggressive drone regulations for hobbyists and commercial drone pilots in the USA. As someone who is in the industry, the regulations they are trying to pass will hinder my work by a LOT. Also, drone operators in this country have a nearly perfect safety record, and there are already regulations in place for us. Needless to say, if aggressive actions are being taken with drones, they are refusing to abide by drone regulation, and doing it illegally. Just like with guns. No they are not. Every year people lose hands, fingers or even die from fireworks. There have been no deaths from drone shows or camera drones in the US and there are over 1 million registered drones with the FAA by hobbyists and photographers.

I've never seen this happen with a drone show other than at Skinwalker Ranch. I think two things are going on here. 1. Some group is causing problems with drones and will also provide the solution: Legislation outlawing or severely limiting drones for public use. 2. Desensitizing people to a mass drone presence. The only drones that will lawfully be able to operate will be ones that are surveying everyone 24/7 right outside their windows. Privacy will be a thing of the past, even on your own property. They are going to have full control of us if it's the last thing they do, whoever they are.

Big shows like this have been around for several years and are becoming much more popular.
Why are people so close to be hit by the drone's! Seams like common sense to keep people a safe distance away but I guess common sense isn't so common these days.

No they are not. Every year people lose hands, fingers or even die from fireworks. There have been no deaths from drone shows or camera drones in the US and there are over 1 million registered drones with the FAA by hobbyists and photographers.

There are beautiful Christmas drone shows all over the world. It's meant to be safer than fireworks, except we shouldn't let A1s control them.
@@Freyja123 there's plenty of beauty just in nature, in tranquility, in taking a walk, in looking at the ocean, etc without having to put on a show. things that have been available for years without the need for constant entertainment and new stimulus, that might even potentially be harmful. (since people seem to be so concerned about their well-being.) it's a form of incessant consumerism, new car, new phone, new type of oreo. could go on, but it wears me out.

People love holiday shows. These shows can be spectacular.

We go to drones from fireworks because people say they are safer but it don’t seem like it, I’ve seen more problems lately with drones, lots of things can interfere with the electronics

I've never seen this happen with a drone show other than at Skinwalker Ranch.
I think two things are going on here.
1. Some group is causing problems with drones and will also provide the solution: Legislation outlawing or severely limiting drones for public use.
2. Desensitizing people to a mass drone presence. The only drones that will lawfully be able to operate will be ones that are surveying everyone 24/7 right outside their windows. Privacy will be a thing of the past, even on your own property.
They are going to have full control of us if it's the last thing they do, whoever they are.

Hope the little one recovers from his injuries. He looks so malnourished, for some reason. Why didn't the "mother" shield the baby from harm, she said "she let him go his way, and she went the other way." What did one expect with these "unmanned" devices!!? Technology is too new. People have enough to worry about airplanes and helicopters crashing, we should not now have to worry about drones dropping from who knows where. There is a reason these things are not allowed near airports!! Of all those attendees only the one child was injured? So now who is at fault, the people who went on their own, without force to see this show, the organizers of show? the engineers of the device? the parents for not holding on to their child or shielding them, as during an earthquake? someone who did not appreciate the noise of those devices and jammed them up?.
I keep seeing this same thing happening all over the world. China, Orlando, Toronto…If I’ve learned anything from Movies that means the world is about to end. 😂
Why would you watch from underneath? I mean we all KNOW how to watch fireworks. Now they are going to blame the drone company. There is a huge body of water right there, why didnt they do it over that? Its a similar reason for why I dont play on train tracks.
The drones should not have been above the people in the first place,we all know anything mechanical can break and this was a possibility 😢
