I’m primarily a Tele and SG guy because of the ergonomics, but I love Strats and I agree that it really is the best guitar with the most versatile sound palette for most players. You can absolutely play metal on a standard SSS Strat because it is such a great pedal platform and the base tone is so neutral that it is easy to build on top of. Like Clapton said, you can make a Strat sound like a Les Paul but you can’t make a Les Paul sound like a Strat.
@ I exaggerated a bit when referencing Clapton. Yes, it is true true that you can get any sound and play any style on any guitar, but it is certainly easier to convincingly layer gain on top of a clean signal and then EQ to make it sound thick and raunchy, than it is to attenuate a higher output and more low and mid-focused signal. It’s also easier to hide a bolt-on guitar‘s metallic twang underneath overdrive and gain than it is to inject twang into a guitar with more woody character. On my experience neither kind of guitar can impersonate the other perfectly, though it they can get close, but it’s easier to do on a Strat or Tele than a Les Paul. That’s why so many people don’t know that early Jimmy Page Solos were done on Teles or that Billy Gibbons often uses an Esquire in recordings.
As soon as I heard you speak, your voice reminded me of Dr. Janosz Poha from Ghostbusters II. 😂 I love Strats, even though I play acoustics 99.9% of the time. I RARELY play other people’s music (and I never play with a group), so all I need to sound like is myself.
I have a Fender Strat that was custom made for me, an amazing guitar and I love it. That being said my Custom Shop Gibson Les Paul is my favorite. One thing for sure though, they each have their own sound and I believe it’s your mood at the time. Which one is better? There is no right or wrong answer. The one that’s best? Is the one that’s in your hands lol.
Awesome playing Emanuel 🎸 ❤ 🔥 I have to agree with you, my three favourite guitar's are 1 Stratocaster 2 telecaster 3 Gibson LP, they are all awesome in their own way 🎸 🎸 🎸 ❤❤❤ 🔥 🔥 🔥
Id like to say Jaguar is improved over the strat. My Jag at 24 inch scale i can reach and bend better. I also have more range running the rythmn and lead circut above like a jazz master going mellow or deep but also that strangle switch below for beyond tele brights.
Jaguars are awesome. In the video you can see my Fender Jaguar, from 1964, in the background. It's an awesome instrument. Maybe I will shoot a video about that guitar also in the future.
I love my 1972 Les Paul!! Glad I made that decision when I was in high school and mom and dad gave me 56 Gold Top limited edition reissue for Christmas. I had been debating between the Strat and the Les Paul. The neck on my Les Paul is amazing to play and I find it easier to play than the Strat!
It is my favourite electric guitar too, it is also my only electric guitar, does that make me biased, yes, but do I care, no. Amazing playing as usual ❤
Nothing against Les Paul’s but I have two U.S. Stratocasters and that costed me less than a single Les Paul there is the problem with Les Pauls way too expensive.
I have a 62 strat too and it best sounding playing I've ever heard or played and as you say the pick ups are fantastic , and their a bit louder the most single coils ive tried ,rosewood veneer neck I think it was the best era for the strat , very lucky to have one
I dig the strat but my hand hits the upper volume control when I strum and it hurts, I guess one will get use to it over time but I have always been a Les Paul guy so never played a strat much. That 62 strat is sick. I knew a guy who had a 54 strat back in the 80s it had a serial number of 720 and a signature in the neck pocket and the date 8/54. It was the holy grail for sure. It was worth about $3k back then which was like $10k now but of course now it would be worth who knows what.
Thanks for your comment! I totally get what you mean about the volume knob on the Strat-it can feel a bit awkward at first, especially if you’re used to a Les Paul. It’s definitely something that takes time to adjust to, but once you do, it becomes second nature. That said, Les Pauls are amazing guitars too, so it’s all about what feels right in your hands. And wow, a '54 Strat with a serial number of 720-that’s incredible! That truly is a holy grail piece. It’s amazing to think how much those guitars have appreciated in value and how much history they carry. Guitars like that are not just instruments; they’re pieces of art and history. Thanks for sharing your story, and I’m glad you dig the '62 Strat in the video. It’s a special one - for me - for sure! Best, Emanuel
@@EmanuelHedberg OK so this story is quite interesting and really sad actually. So back then I was living in Anchorage Alaska, a guy I worked with lived in an apartment and rented a room out to a girl. She was moving back home to the states and before she left she gave him a key and said this is to the place I work. It was a cafe or something like that in a strip mall. She said the guy who owns it has a guitar he keeps in the back. He thought this is weird, why is she doing this? Well about a week later he got a long distance phone bill of like $600 or so on long distance calls she made back home. He then realize that is why she gave him that key. I was teaching him how to play bass at the time. He took the empty bass case and went to the store super early one morning, unlocked the door, found the guitar, put it in the case and went home with it. He took the guitar apart and sanded the finish off of it down to bare wood and called me. Of course he didn't know squat about guitars at the time. I went over, he told me the story and I was looking at the guitar in pieces and saw the signature and date in the neck pocket then the serial number and I literally started shaking. I then said dude, this is the 720th strat ever made and you just sanded the finish off of it. I wanted to kill him. I was so disappointed in him but he had no clue and it was too late. I felt really bad for the old guy too but it wasn't my deal so I chose to stay out of it. He ended up moving back to PA and we never talked again for years but I caught up to him on FB about 7 years ago and asked about the guitar. He said he kept it for many years but ended up selling it off. Don't remember the details of it now but such a sad and tragic story for the old man and the guitar as well. Somewhere there is a refinished 54 strat with the serial number 0720 and I know its story. I guess you do too now.
My first electric guitar. I knew nothing about electrics. I was in fourth grade. I wanted a Gretsch, because Brian Jones of the stones played one. Thank God, I was talked out of that, it was bigger then any other guitar on the market, almost, or at least that I was aware of. The stratocaster is the best solid body made, being extremely vesatile, and light. I can't think of any form of music, that a strat, can't cover adequately. LAWRENCE WELK USED A SRATOCASTER!!! IN HIS ORCHESTRA.
Thanks 😄🙏 I actually don’t know 😅 sorry ❤️🙏 and I don’t have a Weighing scale 😂🤦♂️😂 I just compare this strat to my other strats I own and have owned, and it’s very light compared to them.
@@EmanuelHedberg interesting how that has changed. In the 70’s guitar players wanted heavier guitars, but I’m with you, lighter is generally a better thing.
I think that the strat is best for you but i prefer the tele or les paul or prs custum 24. There is no arguments that the strat is good but to each there own
@@EmanuelHedberg Wow, strong hands and nice playing. Since you have a fixed bridge, I must ask if it's easier for you to bend than with a floating one. I dont agree with Clapton to a point.
