      To be fair, as someone who spent ten years serving adult living with all kinds of mental illness, some of what he describes sounds mildly manic, but not to a degree that seems problematic. This looks like self-supportive art therapy.
      What I feel concern about, as a degreed artist and art teacher with training in material safety, is that he might not know enough about safely enjoying his art. Jim describing using paintings as tables to eat off of is NOT a good idea. I cant tell if he has adequate air flow in these spaces, and in several scenes he has splatters of paint on his face, hands or arms. Even with acrylic paint, that's not a great idea, especially if you're doing this every day.
      I hope he knows not to eat, drink or smoke until he has thoroughly scrubbed up.

      When people label living your dreams and doing what you enjoy and feeling comfortable in your skin as crazy; well, you just gotta wonder how unfulfilling their lives must really be. That ain't crazy, that's embracing your existence. People could take some lessons from that.

      To 'win' in a conservative society, creative people have to suffer. Problem is, societies built on unbridled creativity don't last long. You have to minimise the suffering while contributing your creativity to society.
      People think creatives are insane because they're doing things that appear to be insane to a non-creative. We non-creative people just don't get you guys, you're seeing things we don't, making connections between things that simply don't connect for us.

I live on the border of a very affluent city with a lot of elder residents. I was telling a male friend how you can find really interesting tools, often antiques at garage sales in this community. My companion started talking about how to tell fake from real gold jewelry. I replied at least 3 times that I wasn't interested in jewelry; that I like tools because I'm a maker and he said, "If you're not looking for something with monetary value that you can pawn, you're wasting your time." He walked up, looked down at me.. and said “taking my seat?” And followed the sentence with a very joyful smile to reassure his joke as simply that. I remember how pure his smile felt. Omg. I saw the title and knew this was for me. This is the journey I’ve been taking the last few years, finding my way back to painting and feeling it is finally mine- after going to art school and working in design for almost 2 decades I would never say “I am an artist until about 2 yrs ago. And at some point it got to where I need color! I think it all the time. I have always dressed neutral for easy dressing, but now, I find myself dressing in bright colors and bold patterns. It’s like a food craving. I have even started wearing red and fuchsia or purplish lipsticks (I’ve always been a lip gloss or balm girl). But it feels so good!

      @d d Well, I would propose that a lot of what Hollywood stands for is exactly against the teology of humanity (what makes us human, and what we are "meant" to do as people.) So yes, I find it hard to ignore that it is based of pleasure in consumption off of a corrupted network of extremely influencial business men. And yes, I find that makes it more difficult to see the "humanity" in these, for what they are most of the time, puppets.

    • @Thulgore

      I'm 43...........I didn't get to enjoy lockdown. (for some fucking reason being a janitor in a school was considered "essential") I was so happy when I thought I would be. Interestingly, those first few weeks made me love humanity more. (not for myself) I actually saw almost no vehicle traffic. I actually witnessed fathers walk along the creek with their kids. (that is 2 minutes walk from my shitty white trash apartment) I heard fathers tell stories to their kids on that walk.
      Dogs have never been walked more. I actually also witnessed long term married couples also walking together. (one couple has continued that tradition)
      (I live in montana........low population per capita)
      The ONLY thing that changed for me was that I was asked to wear a mask. Interestingly I never get sick and to my knowledge, have never had the flu. For the first time I found a year where the people around me never caught something either. (I've always wondered if I might be some form of a "typhoid Mary".....I don't know)
      While others were locked down, I was still cleaning the disgusting shit (literally) that I was before. (though less due to no students) I was exposed to even more chemicals as well. Part of the job I suppose.
      I mourn that initial feeling though. I will never take part in it. It was nice to see people and families actually being humane locally. I don't think I've ever witnessed it with mine own eyes.
      It spiked right back into hatred in less than a month............fucking humans. How much time you spend looking at yourselves and not seeing anything.
      I'm human too, much to my chagrin. (not really....but sort of)

    I've always had a tremendous amount of respect for Jim Carrey out of his originality and authenticity. I feel and understand his desire for painting to express his unconscious; something that's full of pain, and other intense emotions.
    This video inspired me to take up painting on my own, and I think I'm developing an addiction. I've been painting almost every day, and I'll often sacrifice several hours of sleep just to finish a single painting.
    Thanks for the video, it has certainly been influential to me.

      @tincho Nah they don't mean the same and it's not "frases", also he clearly did quote Jim. Even if he didn't, he must've quoted someone judging from the way he structured his sentence and that quote does not quite exist as it was written in the comment.

    • @GodOfMacro
      @GodOfMacro 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @tincho by using quotes "like this".
      Miss quoting is common, I read this comment and did not agree with it, and was surprise that jim said that, after watching the video, turns out he didn't.
      I think J K took the liberty to rephrase the quote, but it changed the meaning in the process.

    • @GodOfMacro
      @GodOfMacro 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @tincho Jim saying he love being alive, and the art is an evidence of that:
      in this case, the art is an evidence of his love for life.
      What JK said was art is an evidence for life it self.
      Not even close, art is no evidence for life why would not art exist in death ?
      anyway not the same meaning.

    Bless Jim Carrey. Sometimes I'll see things about him in the news that he went crazy, but I just see someone who's handling their inner demons in a healthy and constructive manner. I can't imagine what he's been through in life and how other comedians, like Robin Williams, weren't able to escape what was inside them. Jim has spent his life giving so much joy and laughter, he deserves to find peace in whatever healthy way he chooses. Other people don't have to get it, they just have to respect it.

Man, Jim is truly someone who tapped into his potential, and he tried to signal to everyone what matters more in life, the connection between us all down to the very matter, and how the outside world is a reflection of our inner worlds.
      You gotta love that guy, he wasn't afraid to speak his mind for what he believes in. And just a little note, the things he mentioned - I've had them in my mind before that, so it's not that he bamboozled me C:

Colors, or painting is something that he finds joy in and he believes that it may help others too.

    He's becoming like Van Gough. I think it's amazing.

    I feel you, Jim...I began painting after heartbreak. I checked myself into a hospital and spent ten days there sick in 2019...surrounded by legitimate crazy people. I don't connect with people...I can't cultivate relationships very well...so I find myself in the colors. Still get lonely every now and then...and it shows in the paintings. Vie for acceptance...crawling in and out of beds...and painting just to continue living.
