Farming with junk is pretty common anymore, you kinda get stuck in the middle. Can't afford to farm, and can't afford not to. We live till we die so we may as well make the best of what we got. Thumbs up to you. 👍
Case engines wear the sides of the bearings if they have been over reved to long and they wear the rod side faster then the cap side if they have been pulled hard
rings , bearings , seat the valves and go pull dip stick when she is runningto see how much blow by comes out .my father put new rings bearings in a masey 1105 25 ears ago he used the old pistons and liners still going
I am completely rebuilding a 1270 even down to new cam, lifters, bearings all around. I broke my tach drive cause I’m an idiot so I had to find one at a tractor junkyard because new at Case is like 400$
These projects always snowball. Started with a dropped valve seat and ended up replacing the cam, lifters, cam bearings, rod and main bearings, pistons, sleeves, rod bushings, injectors, rebuilt pump, turbo, exhaust manifold. Yeah it’s been a real treat!

The bottoms of the rods are ground to weight balance them to each other and to the crank

It happens. The plastic is old and brittle.

Love to see an update on this machine. Have you had a chance to service the transmission?
I haven't done much with it. Hoping to use it some in the spring but I need to work on the hydraulic couplers and valve control levers.
Glow plugs. Glow plugs
I would use them if it had them. Never had them from the factory.
You show me the PN and I'll order two sets. One for him, and one to put on my shelf of shit that doesn't exist.
Maybe you have an injector sticking
Not worth an in frame renewal ? 😭 Switch to a Cummins 350. thanks
The engine is probably worth the overhaul but not the rest of the tractor.
Sounds nnot that bad.
