Farming With Junk
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 31 ธ.ค. 2017
We are a farm in Northwest Pennsylvania that grows corn, soybeans, and small grains. We farm with Case, David Brown, and International Harvester tractors that are mostly junk. We enjoy farming aswell as working on older farm equipment.

Just had this happen on mine. Was told to check your video out. Good info! Thank you
Just a hint, if you spend 1/2 an hour taking the tin work off before you start, you can slide the hydro pump into the front end loader bucket, takes no time at all then when you have to lift it back up and slide it into position, them 45min to put the tin work back on, probably save a few hours and no jamed fingers!
Great job!
Do you have part number of collar you used? Genius fix.
It's a weasler coupler. Part number 20032221. 1and3/8 X 21 spline.
Farming with junk. In oldschool days New Holland TRs that would happen on transmission coupling they would weld new coupling to the shaft .Oh they used jd transmission back then.
Good job. Only problem I see is if the auxiliary drive belt needs changing the pump has to be removed. It is designed to unbolt the pulley and slide along that splined shaft. Then a new belt can be put on. In my experience not a pleasant job. My wife has been called on for that repair as my hands dont fit in the gap provided.
Yes won’t be changing the belt without pulling the hydro now.
That's why it got a new belt when we repaired it. It was an original belt on it.
How do I idle down my 1194 tractor plz
Pull the hand throttle on the right side of the dash towards you.
Fantastic repair! cheap fix for a otherwise expensive break down. Just a FYI. This coupling a hydrostatic pump to transmission is common on John Deere's older cotton pickers. The coupler about 6" long has a grease alemite on it. Often overlooked by farmers and never greased. I've seen ones that were being greased regularly and one that were not. The ones that are greased will last almost indefinitely. A picker with many thousands of hours on it. The splines and coupler will be in almost perfect condition. In contrast. If never greased. Will last only about 1,500 hours. I believe the manual says every 100 hours. I greased mine every 30 hours or so. If you could put a alemite on that coupler you welded together. Grease it regularly. I wouldn't be at all afraid of it lasting the rest of the combines life.
DO NOT put grease on the shaft or collar it will cause dust to collect and eat it up you will not get very much hour running time
Wrong. The grease inside will not get dirty. The grease pushed up in installation will provide a seal for the important area.
What is the part number and supplier please? This will save everyone who runs these machines thousands of dollars, I think even the 21 and 23 series combines have this issue. Great job!

Loose coupling cause the stripped spines?
Years of vibration over 4000 hours running wide open.
We run a late 1660 as well, but it's getting tired! Often thought of putting a Deere grain header on it, the harvester one sucks in my hilly ground.
Well you’ll have that on them big jobs
Ouch, and the clip at the end, priceless.
Ouch
Well buy a johndeere Larson farm Deere blew up 300 hrs
Your 1070 seems to just purr right along
You have to adjust your header
Nice looking 1660 what wrong with it
Go buy a John Deere and be happy
That would be worse
Might be the worst advice I ever heard. Ih was leap years ahead of Deere in this era of machines. I love my Deere tractor but I would never buy any cylinder style Deere.
That is not Junk. We use the same machine, just updated to it a couple years ago. That one has the Cummings in it right?
Yes, it has the 5.9 liter 12 valve Cummins.
Faster reel speed would be OK.
He's probably running with auto reel speed so it coincides with his ground speed. So if he pushes hydro handle to travel faster the reel will speed up as well or vice versa when slowing down. Also in beans you only want to run the reel fast enough to keep the combine fed and not shatter the beans
Thats better junk than mine.
990s were/are a very good tractor,great pullers,.
Super video, love them dbs, great info.
Thats some tractor, stars and stripes would like very cool.
Very interesting video, didn't realise 1290 is 990 underneath, is hydraulic filter still under gearbox.if there anything like 990 they should be very good tractor.
I'm pretty sure the hydraulic filter is still under the transmission.
Like the video, but your really after putting me off buying one of them,I was going to upgrade from 990,now I'm not sure.
This 1290 is very worn out. We have a 990 with a good engine and it starts very good in the cold weather.
@@farmingwithjunk1848 I'll be sticking with rhe 990
That wasn't too good.
Yeah the pto clutch is out of adjustment on that one.
Push rod
I’ve never seen a pull were they pull tandem. Are they supposed to keep it even for distance. Definitely cool and would take some skill.
We didn't have any rules for that. We were testing out the new double hitch and new dead weight sled. Normally you just have to keep both tractors moving forward. Yeah its definitely difficult.
Was the saw mill doing work for you all? Looks like you had the whole family involved! Also, the part of the video with Nate on the David Brown connected to some blue piece of equipment, was that a dyno run? And I'm sure that last clip was a proud dad moment for Richard.
We volunteered to run it. The logs were ours and we were cutting some stuff for us and some to rebuild the mill frame work. Yeah that was the dyno. Yeah he really enjoyed that!
Where can I find whole clutch kit, My father has the same 770 agriking
Nate's David Brown was WORKING! Ah, the sound of a Detroit. The Case that Richard was running, is that new?
No we've had that we just don't pull it much.
Leave that old girl alone keep it original😊❤ love her the way she is
Our 1570 was beast!! Would have liked to of found out actual horsepower!! Don't forget your 4th paint option, the Black Knight!
Those are still a great work horse on the farm. I had one in white, stars and stripes was for an anniversary model of 1570 if I remember correctly. If the ac is extremely cold it may be a bit low on charge. Sight glass liquid line near the radiator somewhere. Bubbles indicate low charge after about 5 minutes of operation on a day about 80 f.
Thanks for the info! I'll have to take a look at that.
@@farmingwithjunk1848 I believe the stars and stripes was for the Spirit of 76 , those 1570s made in 1976 had that paint scheme. Chevrolet also made a Spirit of 76 Caprice Classic, white outside with red interior and blue pinstripes.
Original delete muffler
Clear coat
Ill take that stack.
Keep original not a true spirit of 76 don't do it
Keep it original. And put original muffler and side curtains 1570 panels.
There's always the Black Knight option as well.
That is awesome tractor! Spirit of ‘76! I’ll trade you a beat up 1370 and 2590 for it.
What a brute of a machine. I hope you get a lot of service from it. Should have well over 200 HP. Just don't paint it red and black.
what is holding the disk up?
pretty car. I put EPS on a '70 Datsun 510
Was the tractor plugged in ( ie block heater)either ????common guys .
Nope. They didn't have them when new and it wasn't that cold the day we started it.
Do you know if that engine is a 2.7 liter or a 3 liter? My grandpa has a 900 model and i have no idea what engine it has
2.7 liter I think.
If you replace the pitman arm and idle arm with those from a power steering car, they are longer and will give you quicker steering ratio. This is what Carrol Shelby did.
