My favorite tactics is (sry for my English =))): 1. Disallow my entire army to shoot 2. Build a rows or a shield wall on a mountain or a hill without moving them close to each other 3. Provoke enemy troops to attack by hitting someone while I'm on horse 4. Wait for them to get closer 5. Order my army to shoot. Boom! 1/4 - 1/2 of enemies army goes to Valhalla.
For recruiting in later game if your vassal i like to use "Et tu Brute" technique....if you see friendly lord running from enemy lord...For EX friendly lord has 85 troops and enemy has 115 troops...come close to your lord...he will turn around and attack stronger lord...but of course dont help him...after he gets clapped enemy lord will have 30-40 standing troops + 15-30 high-medium tear prisoners soo you finish him off...soo basically free renown loot relation(with rescued lord) and troops and plus enemy lord sometimes

easily on of the best historical DLC/mods around. I love the time period, so I might be partial. ahaha In my own playthrought of this mod I had a female Pagan Celt character from Ireland, threw in with the Vikings, and raided the shit out of Christian kingdoms of britannia. Not to mention that the story mode of this is also very good, but the thing that really sold this to me was the soundtrack, it is beautiful.
At the Ancient Stones location you can sacrifice one of your prisoners for a random extra attribute point in STR, AGI or CHR. This works only once. Also forgot to mention that when you win a battle against a Lord, you have a chance of earning Battle, War and Epic Trophies. These are items you can redeem in any town from the Marketplace menu. This will give you money, experience and relations with the respective town.
You also recruit Dwywei from the Ancient Stones, who is a tracker. The Stone Row also got nerfed; it's only one extra peninga now, so it's not really worth the trip just to sell prisoners (esp. since you have to run up to it the hard way every time you visit).
i still think that irish have the best range unit in the game. i remember my 100 infantry and spearman just got wiped in like 20 sec by irish skirmisher. if im not mistaken, each of them have 6 or more javelin. 2 for destroying shield, 2 for kill, and 2 more for another target. if they dont miss. i heard someone said "viking conquest is all about shield, and infantry, level them up and nobody can stop you". yeah right, have you ever invade irish castle? they know how to pack a REAL punch.its rhodok sharpshooter all over again. with extra steroid.and less upkeep.
Norse warrior archers beat easily irish skirmishers. Skirmishers tend to run out of javelins rather quick and then they are useless. i like to put vanguard to front, then inf behind them and then archers from side to fire volley`s. Also like to use couple horsemen and me to charge to enemy so they fire their javelin`s out. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
If you're not using a lot of unit types besides infantry, I find it very effective to keep the Spearmen and Infantry as separate groups and have two shield walls. Use the spearmen as the anvil and the sword infantry as the hammer. It's a bit more complicated but if done properly, it's very decisive in shield wall vs shield wall battles. A bit more work, but it isn't a problem when you don't utilize skirmisher and cavalry in a significant way.
There are some insanely huge maps in Warband mods like most of the world map for example. Many historical mods have really big maps, VC map is actually quite small compared to those maps.
Sometimes when being rich and high renown, high level troops, ex. Ulfhedins offer to join you randomly. The other interesting way to get troops is recruiting Vikings. You have to have lots of money, and must have a 3 times larger army, than the vikingr group, then you can give them chance not to kill them, but join you. Sometimes they choose to fight, but there are cases when they join you
I have owned this dlc for years now and never actually got it into. Not until I found this guide, ty so much sir! I'm having a blast with this dlc after getting burn out by Bannerlord!
If you use a proper strategy in battle, your pictish crossbow units will not enter in contact with enemies. Send the cheap skirmishers to attract the enemy fire, advance the spearmen in shieldwall formation, let cavalry attack from a side and infantry from the other while you keep the ranged troops in the back, possibly on higher ground. You'll be golden with that.

Really great work! I have a lot of questions, but will make only a observation for the moment regarding companions(though it might be too much detail): to get Caio at the Hadrian's Wall, you need 8 packs of grain(first mission), could be helpful to have it with you so you do not lose time to return.
The Strong trait is amazing. Forming shield walls and slowly advancing towards the enemy guarantee victory every time. Mauled armies up to 5 times the size of my army without issues.
You can add Cealwin to that companion party and it will still be stabel. He is by far the best strength based companion and I always give him the troll axe. Also if you use the balance mod for this dlc you can keep morrigan from the Irish quest as a companion and she's amazing stat wise. This way you gonna have a party of 12 companions. And if you don't mind a little bit instability, you can add Beda too. I do and I never had a problem.

I want to add something at 50:30 . Norse bodyguard-Huskarl is the best melee infantry (with sword) and Saxon noble-Thegn is best spear armed infantry. They dont replace each other
i own vc for years , tried a few times but somehow it never hooked me and after 1 or 2 hours i went back to other mods until i saw ur video , omg, never watched a 2:30 hour long video on youtube and now i cant stop playing vc (with blood eagle mod) . i must confess that the vc mechanics in the menus are alot more comfortable for me and i have huge problems to go back to other mods which do not have this. the only other mod i play along with vc is age of arthur 3.2 which is based on vc mechanics . it would be awsome if u could do a ultimate guide on age of arthur too, best of luck and thank u very much for this amazing guide :)

I have spend way too much time researching and restarting this game... I want 1 FULL perfect playthrough.. there is so so much details to know.. I have played 4 big playthroughs and I'm still discovering new stuff
I know this is a few years old but it’s super helpful! I stumbled on the mod after not playing any mount and blade games in years. Really enjoying it but just like the rest of the games… it’s complicated and I needed some help lol
last year -when i played the game i figured out that the easiest way to start out is just to begin with javelins you can easily clean out bandits (and as a sidenote i wanted to kill the troll but 4 javelins to his face did nothing lol)
i think some more explanation with the early game quests, right to rule and faction relations would be amazing in another video. also how to manage faction relations when you went the raider path. i got some quests from lords to raid christian monstaries that combined with picking one faction to bully and raid led to me having a massivley negative reputation and all the faction relations i spent so long building up by doing quests just decayed away. went from around 15 with most lords to negative 30 before i even noticed. tldr. explain right to rule, reputation, and faction relations and maybe going from getting kicked out of dorestead to owning the joint would make a great video.

Great guide, just got this game yesterday and started sandbox just to learn and play around. Now getting trough your guide i have much better idea overal so gonna enjoy the game :) thanks
The dog has got actual stats and they level up if you feed it. Basically, anything that is meat. Chicken, pork, boar meat, cow meat etc. And there is a cap to them, 10 from each kind levels up the dog's strength, agility, athletics etc. And it grows in size as well. In the end you will have a hunting beast for routing cowards on the field of battle!
The pictish elite skirmishers are actually very, very good. You just really have to keep them out of trouble or you lose them. I think they are worth it because I rarely lose archers, I also dont use them like most people. I always keep my archers behind the shield wall, the only units whose AI prefers them over the shield wall is cavalry, so I just put all my companions in the archer line and give them spears as well as crossbows. I love this review, but I feel like it gives bad impressions of certain units. Finn archers are also very good, but I prefer the crossbows. I recommend having the female peasant archers too, as having women in your party increases morale, plus they're almost good as viking archers. On par as far as actual archery goes, just weaker and no shield but again, just dont put your archers in harms way. The Camp Defender chicks are also relatively cheap to maintain and you can just scoop them out of prisoner trains. Put peasant women in your archer division, only put them in skirmisher division once they reach Soldiers Wife. It takes a while to train them passively but its well worth it imo, especially once you are in late game and have max surgery. The only reason Viking Warrior archers are the best on paper is because they last longer in situations that archers should not be in, which is kind of a silly advantage imo. Its hard to pick archers in this game because they are hella nerfed, but my top 3 units are as follows. 1.Pictish Elite Skirmishers(they can shred shields and unshielded infantry 2. Camp Defenders (cheap and improve morale) 3. Finn Archers (they are the best actual bow shooters) Honorable mention: Viking Warrior Archer (they dont die nearly as quickly as others)
Hi there is a little something that might have changed but, 4:13 when it comes to vocation hunter gives extra +2 draw strengh at start and other choices only change your gear and gives you no bonus. So hunter is the best choice ! :)
@@SoakieCat That's for sandbox mode only, for the storyline, which most people choose, all that matters about character backgrounds is the stats and the reading ability (And for some, a coherent backstory)
And please play this with thelatest balance mod. It' great and they also tweaked troop trees. You can choose Vikingr as tier 3, elite danish vikings as tier 4 and another type of vikings through the swordsmen tiers. I have a Skeid and 55 Vikingrs and I can solo caravans on both sea and land even if they have 60-70 troops. You can now properly roleplay as a infamous raider with that mod.
U can buy wool from farmsteads, if he says he has raw materials and produce u get it for like 210 peningas, and he sells u like 3 at once. If he says he has food and meat spam buy telling him u want else, ask him again until he tells u that he has some. U can also buy mead from cirren ceaster and cippanham and sell at Tomtun. Another trade between Britain is flax u can buy like 200 and sell in most towns for 440.
Once I am back again. Looking that great guide, for my next playthrough after 2 years. I really hope you gonna go for the Burning Empires mod in Bannerlord II
I love this game .. its got soo much in it.. only thing it missed is letting a woman queen throw a feast. also Castles, not towns can throw a tournament. They happen when a vassel has a feast. they are hard and fast..
Hah, I was using the same defeat the enemy lords before taking a castle tactics. How I got my first castle and became a queen: I was a vassal to Laigin (a Hibernia kingdom) and they had a war against Mierce (a Britannia kingdom). I was the only Laigin vassal to fight Mierce in Britannia, and did it until they run into their castles to avoid me. Then I sieged a castle (Sws). However Mierce lords still gathered a LOT of men to attack me while I was sieging. Their king attacked me with over 600 troops, while my initial rmy was a bit shy 300. And two other lords came with about 300 men too. And the castle had 400 men in the beginning, but fortunately they sallied out twice which cut their numbers a lot. I'm playing with the easiest damage option, so it was doable. Got good victories in the battles, and had almost 180 men left when the castle was finally mine. Lost more men with the random siege events than in the actual battles. I think the troops Mierce lords had though were low quality, as they had already lost so many men in field battles before the castle siege. Initially I was a mercenary to Laigin, but after conquering the castle first time, the king gave it to one of his vassals. I loaded an earlier game save, to became first a vassal to this king before I take the castle. However, he told he couldn't give me a fief, as my charater was a woman, and other lords would laugh at him. There was a chat option where he said he might consider giving me a fief, if I conquer a castle. I went around and asked to become a vassal to almost all the kings I could find, but everyone said the same thing. Alright, I became a vassal to the Laigin king then. Took the same castle. After a couple of days the king sends a message saying that he gave the castle to another vassal of his. I responded that I have been wronged, and I'll keep the castle. So the king declared a war against me. The war against Laigin was easy though. They rarely sent any armies to Britannia. I grew bored and went instead into Hibernia to fight them to have some action. And finally they suggested peace, and I was given more points to the "right to rule."
@@HitPointInnGaming It's a bit different path for players that take a female character, apparently. So I was a bit confused how to do it, does she need to marry. If someone is thinking or already started to play a female character, the comment may be useful. And thank you. Now that I have started the kingdom and have played long enough, time to add some harder mode from the game options.
First of all, thank you again for all the time you put into this guides, amazing stuff. I just want to point out something, the early game part is not only kinda vague but also not quite early game related, i understand the right to rule thing (i dont do it but thats my thing) and the companions part, but viking conquest is absurdly hard early game for anyeone that doesnt know exactly what to do, its almost frustrating, i think ppl could benefit from a more specific list of actions to perform while on the first, lets say, 50 days or so, gathering your first 30 men is annoying and hard if you dont know what to do, plus trading isnt that reliable and you need to already have money to make it happen, upgrading troops is almost imposible due to budget early game. The only way i find to make the early game smooth is to play tournaments because those are even easier than in warband, so you can save enough to buy your first enterprise, but its kinda immersion breaking at least for me, but cant find another way to properly build up enough peningas to actually start the game.
You are correct. I try to explain that in the Recruiting Troops. Where and How? topic. The exact first thing to do after entering the game, sadly, I don't remember. It has been awhile. It also depends on your start (campaign/sandbox). Hopefully the Recruiting Troops topic helps, though.
Another thing you could do is to start with the campaign. I started a couple days ago and it can get you started at first. Giving you a ship and companion's very early in the game and a fair amount of Money. From there you can build up and start your trading.
Hit Point Inn Gaming you mentioned that is good to be raider\viking on seas, when you are Pagan, but if you are Christian ang you have merchant build It's good to raid smaller groups of outlaws (especially with slaves=free very good troops) and this is can be a good reason for raiding bandits on seas (financial reason in this case are minor). The probability of meeting bandits with free good slaves on sea is very much presumable than meeting them on land. I think you mention about raiding, but I think It's can be a good side of raiding, not only bad.

Dont sleep on the young warrior->slaver tree either. Theyre not as well armored as norse or saxon troops but they have javelins which are indisposable, if you tell your infantry to hold fire until they are maybe 15 meters away and then tell them to throw at once, you will literally wipe out the first wave of enemies no fucks given. Then your pictish elite skirmishers will be in their element and can totally shred whoever is left. Best advice I can give is keep in mind who the best units are just to understand what you are up against in each battle, but you yourself should experiment with different units. Some of them have somewhat hidden strengths that dont show themselves until you see for yourself what affect they have on your army. Bandit troops for example, they suck on paper but they are ridiculously easy to recruit. You can recruit 300 ruffians and train them up to reavers in no time at all compared to actual faction troops. I also always have women in the party because they improve morale, so having a bunch of peasant women passively leveling up to camp defender is not really a drawback, especially when at the end of it all you will have top tier archer units that also improve morale
Great guide. Been playing M&B way before it was released back in the day. Started at version 0.4something or so, maybe 2008 or I don't remember.. Came back to VC after a very long time and it got lot's 'o polish since then. Two questions: Do sailors improve traveling speed (for norse factions as well) ? Does the tactical order system work in sea battles ?

While camping at see you can check under fleet button how much speed increase your sailors give you - seems like some viking troops give that bonus too !!

2:24 you lost me already but I will still watch this video cus I am intrested yeas strenght is good but I am winning msot of batles jsut by strategys yeas sometimes I luse but most of times I win only reason is that I am using 2 shieldwalls infanitry and spearmen when enemy shieldwall goes to my spearman shieldwall I attack whit my infanitry shieldwall in side or bosibly bihaind and send cavarly to enemy archers depends hevily on your troops choices and how meny you have in those spots but in early strenght is king leter on not 100% correct and in sieges strenght is king cus you cant use shieldwall or jsut whait until enemy dont have food lot of options but if you wanna win by strategys you should have close to 250 troops if less than 100 strnght is king edit 1 : sorry for my bad english
this dlc lacks a proper wiki honestly, I cant find stats for armours, unit tree, weapons, DANE AXE, parts of Sweden, Byzantine, Varangian Guards, Holy Roman Empire, convert the population to paganism/christianity. I have been playing this dlc again and I just noticed this details in my 2nd time playing.
You forgot to mention that peasant women can be used to "improve moral" for your men.. Just talk to them and pay them some gold to do so.. Just as happy widow does..

If you give your party members excellent weapons and armour, and keep upgrading their stats, you don't actually need too large an army in late game.

I have a lot of questions, but will make only a observation for the moment regarding companions(though it might be too much detail): to get Caio at the Hadrian's Wall, you need 8 packs of grain(first mission), could be helpful to have it with you so you do not lose time to return.

The Strong trait is amazing. Forming shield walls and slowly advancing towards the enemy guarantee victory every time. Mauled armies up to 5 times the size of my army without issues.
You can add Cealwin to that companion party and it will still be stabel.
He is by far the best strength based companion and I always give him the troll axe.
Also if you use the balance mod for this dlc you can keep morrigan from the Irish quest as a companion and she's amazing stat wise.
This way you gonna have a party of 12 companions. And if you don't mind a little bit instability, you can add Beda too. I do and I never had a problem.

I want to add something at 50:30 . Norse bodyguard-Huskarl is the best melee infantry (with sword) and Saxon noble-Thegn is best spear armed infantry. They dont replace each other

i own vc for years , tried a few times but somehow it never hooked me and after 1 or 2 hours i went back to other mods until i saw ur video , omg,
never watched a 2:30 hour long video on youtube and now i cant stop playing vc (with blood eagle mod) .
i must confess that the vc mechanics in the menus are alot more comfortable for me and i have huge problems to go back to other mods which do not have this.
the only other mod i play along with vc is age of arthur 3.2 which is based on vc mechanics .
it would be awsome if u could do a ultimate guide on age of arthur too, best of luck and thank u very much for this amazing guide :)

last year -when i played the game i figured out that the easiest way to start out is just to begin with javelins you can easily clean out bandits (and as a sidenote i wanted to kill the troll but 4 javelins to his face did nothing lol)
i think some more explanation with the early game quests, right to rule and faction relations would be amazing in another video. also how to manage faction relations when you went the raider path. i got some quests from lords to raid christian monstaries that combined with picking one faction to bully and raid led to me having a massivley negative reputation and all the faction relations i spent so long building up by doing quests just decayed away. went from around 15 with most lords to negative 30 before i even noticed. tldr. explain right to rule, reputation, and faction relations and maybe going from getting kicked out of dorestead to owning the joint would make a great video.

Great guide, just got this game yesterday and started sandbox just to learn and play around. Now getting trough your guide i have much better idea overal so gonna enjoy the game :) thanks
The dog has got actual stats and they level up if you feed it. Basically, anything that is meat. Chicken, pork, boar meat, cow meat etc. And there is a cap to them, 10 from each kind levels up the dog's strength, agility, athletics etc. And it grows in size as well. In the end you will have a hunting beast for routing cowards on the field of battle!
Never knew that. Will check it out again someday.

The pictish elite skirmishers are actually very, very good. You just really have to keep them out of trouble or you lose them.
I think they are worth it because I rarely lose archers, I also dont use them like most people. I always keep my archers behind the shield wall, the only units whose AI prefers them over the shield wall is cavalry, so I just put all my companions in the archer line and give them spears as well as crossbows.
I love this review, but I feel like it gives bad impressions of certain units. Finn archers are also very good, but I prefer the crossbows. I recommend having the female peasant archers too, as having women in your party increases morale, plus they're almost good as viking archers. On par as far as actual archery goes, just weaker and no shield but again, just dont put your archers in harms way. The Camp Defender chicks are also relatively cheap to maintain and you can just scoop them out of prisoner trains. Put peasant women in your archer division, only put them in skirmisher division once they reach Soldiers Wife. It takes a while to train them passively but its well worth it imo, especially once you are in late game and have max surgery.
The only reason Viking Warrior archers are the best on paper is because they last longer in situations that archers should not be in, which is kind of a silly advantage imo. Its hard to pick archers in this game because they are hella nerfed, but my top 3 units are as follows.
1.Pictish Elite Skirmishers(they can shred shields and unshielded infantry
2. Camp Defenders (cheap and improve morale)
3. Finn Archers (they are the best actual bow shooters)
Honorable mention: Viking Warrior Archer (they dont die nearly as quickly as others)

Hi there is a little something that might have changed but, 4:13 when it comes to vocation hunter gives extra +2 draw strengh at start and other choices only change your gear and gives you no bonus. So hunter is the best choice ! :)
Only if you want to use a bow, starting with more money or a spear and shield would be 10x better than +2 draw strength
@@SoakieCat That's for sandbox mode only, for the storyline, which most people choose, all that matters about character backgrounds is the stats and the reading ability (And for some, a coherent backstory)

And please play this with thelatest balance mod. It' great and they also tweaked troop trees. You can choose Vikingr as tier 3, elite danish vikings as tier 4 and another type of vikings through the swordsmen tiers.
I have a Skeid and 55 Vikingrs and I can solo caravans on both sea and land even if they have 60-70 troops. You can now properly roleplay as a infamous raider with that mod.
U can buy wool from farmsteads, if he says he has raw materials and produce u get it for like 210 peningas, and he sells u like 3 at once. If he says he has food and meat spam buy telling him u want else, ask him again until he tells u that he has some.
U can also buy mead from cirren ceaster and cippanham and sell at Tomtun. Another trade between Britain is flax u can buy like 200 and sell in most towns for 440.

I love this game .. its got soo much in it.. only thing it missed is letting a woman queen throw a feast.
also Castles, not towns can throw a tournament. They happen when a vassel has a feast. they are hard and fast..
Don't forget many of the Norse infantry also Carry sling wich will make short work of light infantry.

Hah, I was using the same defeat the enemy lords before taking a castle tactics. How I got my first castle and became a queen: I was a vassal to Laigin (a Hibernia kingdom) and they had a war against Mierce (a Britannia kingdom). I was the only Laigin vassal to fight Mierce in Britannia, and did it until they run into their castles to avoid me. Then I sieged a castle (Sws). However Mierce lords still gathered a LOT of men to attack me while I was sieging. Their king attacked me with over 600 troops, while my initial rmy was a bit shy 300. And two other lords came with about 300 men too. And the castle had 400 men in the beginning, but fortunately they sallied out twice which cut their numbers a lot. I'm playing with the easiest damage option, so it was doable. Got good victories in the battles, and had almost 180 men left when the castle was finally mine. Lost more men with the random siege events than in the actual battles. I think the troops Mierce lords had though were low quality, as they had already lost so many men in field battles before the castle siege.
Initially I was a mercenary to Laigin, but after conquering the castle first time, the king gave it to one of his vassals. I loaded an earlier game save, to became first a vassal to this king before I take the castle. However, he told he couldn't give me a fief, as my charater was a woman, and other lords would laugh at him. There was a chat option where he said he might consider giving me a fief, if I conquer a castle. I went around and asked to become a vassal to almost all the kings I could find, but everyone said the same thing.
Alright, I became a vassal to the Laigin king then. Took the same castle. After a couple of days the king sends a message saying that he gave the castle to another vassal of his. I responded that I have been wronged, and I'll keep the castle. So the king declared a war against me. The war against Laigin was easy though. They rarely sent any armies to Britannia. I grew bored and went instead into Hibernia to fight them to have some action. And finally they suggested peace, and I was given more points to the "right to rule."

@@HitPointInnGaming It's a bit different path for players that take a female character, apparently. So I was a bit confused how to do it, does she need to marry. If someone is thinking or already started to play a female character, the comment may be useful.

First of all, thank you again for all the time you put into this guides, amazing stuff. I just want to point out something, the early game part is not only kinda vague but also not quite early game related, i understand the right to rule thing (i dont do it but thats my thing) and the companions part, but viking conquest is absurdly hard early game for anyeone that doesnt know exactly what to do, its almost frustrating, i think ppl could benefit from a more specific list of actions to perform while on the first, lets say, 50 days or so, gathering your first 30 men is annoying and hard if you dont know what to do, plus trading isnt that reliable and you need to already have money to make it happen, upgrading troops is almost imposible due to budget early game. The only way i find to make the early game smooth is to play tournaments because those are even easier than in warband, so you can save enough to buy your first enterprise, but its kinda immersion breaking at least for me, but cant find another way to properly build up enough peningas to actually start the game.
You are correct. I try to explain that in the Recruiting Troops. Where and How? topic. The exact first thing to do after entering the game, sadly, I don't remember. It has been awhile. It also depends on your start (campaign/sandbox). Hopefully the Recruiting Troops topic helps, though.
Another thing you could do is to start with the campaign. I started a couple days ago and it can get you started at first. Giving you a ship and companion's very early in the game and a fair amount of Money. From there you can build up and start your trading.

Hit Point Inn Gaming you mentioned that is good to be raider\viking on seas, when you are Pagan, but if you are Christian ang you have merchant build It's good to raid smaller groups of outlaws (especially with slaves=free very good troops) and this is can be a good reason for raiding bandits on seas (financial reason in this case are minor). The probability of meeting bandits with free good slaves on sea is very much presumable than meeting them on land. I think you mention about raiding, but I think It's can be a good side of raiding, not only bad.
Indeed. Also, as a Christian, you can freely raid any pagan settlement.

Dont sleep on the young warrior->slaver tree either. Theyre not as well armored as norse or saxon troops but they have javelins which are indisposable, if you tell your infantry to hold fire until they are maybe 15 meters away and then tell them to throw at once, you will literally wipe out the first wave of enemies no fucks given. Then your pictish elite skirmishers will be in their element and can totally shred whoever is left.
Best advice I can give is keep in mind who the best units are just to understand what you are up against in each battle, but you yourself should experiment with different units. Some of them have somewhat hidden strengths that dont show themselves until you see for yourself what affect they have on your army.
Bandit troops for example, they suck on paper but they are ridiculously easy to recruit. You can recruit 300 ruffians and train them up to reavers in no time at all compared to actual faction troops.
I also always have women in the party because they improve morale, so having a bunch of peasant women passively leveling up to camp defender is not really a drawback, especially when at the end of it all you will have top tier archer units that also improve morale
Truth be told, they need to remake this in Bannerlord, or a greek illiad/odyssey themed historical campaing mod.
guys... LEADERSHIP STACKS WITH COMPANIONS IN THIS GAME... charisma companions are very good and important mid to late game to increase army size...

Great guide. Been playing M&B way before it was released back in the day. Started at version 0.4something or so, maybe 2008 or I don't remember.. Came back to VC after a very long time and it got lot's 'o polish since then.
Two questions: Do sailors improve traveling speed (for norse factions as well) ? Does the tactical order system work in sea battles ?
Sailors do increase traveling speed on sea. I don't know if the tactical orders work at sea. The basic commands do.
@@HitPointInnGaming Thanks! So do 100% sailors get the most speed (+navigation skill), 50 % half as much inrease and so on ? Oh well might just try it myself :)
While camping at see you can check under fleet button how much speed increase your sailors give you - seems like some viking troops give that bonus too !!
@@connycontainer9459you probably don't need it anymore but 10 sailors = +1 speed, so 20 sailors = +2 speed, 30 = +3 and so on

yeas strenght is good but I am winning msot of batles jsut by strategys yeas sometimes I luse but most of times I win only reason is that I am using 2 shieldwalls infanitry and spearmen when enemy shieldwall goes to my spearman shieldwall I attack whit my infanitry shieldwall in side or bosibly bihaind and send cavarly to enemy archers depends hevily on your troops choices and how meny you have in those spots
but in early strenght is king leter on not 100% correct
and in sieges strenght is king cus you cant use shieldwall or jsut whait until enemy dont have food lot of options but if you wanna win by strategys you should have close to 250 troops if less than 100 strnght is king

this dlc lacks a proper wiki honestly, I cant find stats for armours, unit tree, weapons, DANE AXE, parts of Sweden, Byzantine, Varangian Guards, Holy Roman Empire, convert the population to paganism/christianity.

the horesback swords are very short i am going to try using the 8k spear from the weaponsmith on horseback to see if it's easier
